The selection here is HUGE and well organized. I was shocked at how terrific and well stocked the kids section is. From picture books to Chapter books, they have it all. I can't wait to show my 9 year old all the treasures here. The prices are outstanding. There is both a regular price on the inside cover and a "return credit" amount. You can read the book to your hearts content and bring it back for a credit toward a different book. How awesome is that? Also, there is a puzzle exchange at the back. I got two books to help me learn Spanish (a pandemic project of mine that is ongoing) for $7. Did I mention how much I love this bookstore?

I wish I had stopped by later in the day for cocktails - but for now, we were here with a desperate need for coffee. There were so many cool options in the menu like the Red Bean Matcha Latte, the Fig Apple Chaider or the Ca Phe Sua Da. But of course, I had to order the Pandan Iced Latte. I absolutely loved the nuttiness of the Pandan in a latte - I'm just surprised more coffee shops don't offer it. And the perfect offset to it was the Ca Phe Sua Da, or Vietnamese Iced Coffee. It wasn't as mind blowing, but still tasty. Next time I'm in Madison, I'm definitely stopping through for some cocktails!

It was my first time going to the east towne Barnes & Noble and I was just stunned by the staff there that was so rude. I tried to get help from 3 different people. The first one was just a bit helpful, by pointing me in the right direction. Still could not find it. I asked help from two other staff and they were both so rude. It was like they hated their jobs. The store was very unorganized and chaotic. I never have that experience at the west towne Barnes & Noble. I will never go back to the east towne Barnes & Noble.

I walked into the store with my three nephews (1, 3, and 6 years old) and began looking at puppy…read morecalendars. I turned around to find multiple rows of calendars that featured women in skimpy bikinis. There was a picture that was eye-level with my 3 year old nephew of one tan, skinny, model with her legs spread apart in the sand. Her unnaturally large breasts were practically bursting out of her tiny bikini top. She had her fingers touching her mouth and everything about it was suggestive and sensual. That was just one picture on a row of equally offensive pictures. There was another picture that was eye level with my 6 year old nephew where the woman was turned around backwards with her sandy butt in a thong taking up most of the shot. I am a counselor in Wisconsin who has studied the effect pornographic and sexually suggestive images have on human cognitive functioning extensively. Exposure so young is extremely unhealthy and it sets in motion patterns of thinking that are destructive. We are setting our children up for failure and pain if we allow such frivolous sexual expression in public environments where children cannot escape it (e.g a toy store). My extended family frequents this mall and we will not be making anymore purchases at this shop until changes are made.

Their only downside is how little they give you for quality books…read more I understand not being able to shell out of mass market trade paperbacks, but if you bring them something they will turn around and try to sell for $20+, for them to offer you like $3 or $4 for it is not uncommon. Still, I don't go to sell books there often. It's more about the thrill of the hunt. What will I find? Will it be a cool, British-cover edition of a Terry Pratchett novel? Will it be a Japanese import of an ELP concert? Will it be a cheap mug with a kitty on it? The only way to know for sure is to show up and look...
