The Village Green, is a little known, medium size grassy area off the Main Road at Wellington Point, across the road from the Marine store and next to Harcourts.
It is more or less the brain child of Councillor Wendy Boglary who has worked hard to tidy up the place and turn it into a recreational area. On your average day, it is a warm, grass area, with easy parking, sandstone seats and is within walking distance to a bunch of cafes and shops. It is a really lovely space to relax by yourself or with a friend.
The first time I went to the Village Green was in October, 2011. It was for the first event held in the space , called 'Art in the Park'. The sandstone stage was perfect for performers to show off their talents and the green slope was covered with locals, spread out and enjoying the entertainment.
All in all, it is a fantastic space for markets and organised entertainment or for a peaceful, sunny space to relax on a sunny day. read more
