0/5 - AVOID VILLAGE LOCKSMITH AT ALL COSTS - Especially Dennis This was by far the most infuriating, unprofessional experience I've ever had with a so-called "service provider." I hired Village Locksmith to install a digital lock, and they sent a man named Dennis -- who turned out to be completely incompetent, disrespectful, and aggressive. He botched the installation by programming the lock incorrectly -- it never worked correctly from the start. When I called to get it fixed -- which is the bare minimum anyone would expect after paying for a job -- he blew up on me, yelling over the phone and threatening to charge me AGAIN just to come back. This was his mistake, yet he acted like I was inconveniencing him by asking him to do the job right. Dennis clearly has no idea what he's doing and absolutely no grasp of basic customer service. His behavior was hostile and unprofessional -- I wouldn't trust this man to install a doorknob, let alone a security lock. Village Locksmith should be ashamed to send someone like this into people's homes. I felt disrespected, dismissed, and downright scammed. If you value your safety, your sanity, and your money, stay far away from this company -- and Dennis in particular. read more

The star is for Dennis, who came and did the work. He's fantastic! We had a weekday emergency call and were charged a total of $867. for a simple digit deadbolt. Two year warranty on electronic and 10 on mechanical. less than a year later the lock stopped working after 3 months of occasional use. I called John and he immediately cut me off and said his warranty is only 30 days! I did a lot of research and Emtek said John had to go through his supplier, John said no, we could put it in a box and send it to Emtek. Wrong . It has to go to supplier. John gave me the name and the wrong state, but, if I didn't want to leave my front door without a lock, offered to come back to the house ($225. plus tax) to come into the driveway) and install a new lock, probably another $550 plus tax. After a month without a working door lock, I ordered one from Home Depot for under $200 with a lifetime warranty. read more

Do not use! They did not inform us that the service call charge was $225.00, took 20 minutes to change lock which costs $44 on Amazon and charged us $245. Then when lock got stuck after 2 uses said that they had a 30-day warranty and it was over a month. Really felt suckered. Our handyman fixed it for free! read more

My cousin needed to change her locks on her place in East Hampton. Loooong story, but she needed to take care of it quickly. We found "The Village Locksmith" online and gave them a call. They came out and took care of it pretty quickly. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it. They changed up the lock and gave her new keys. The guy was friendly.
