Some of the wines during one of our recent tastings. I believe this was the Malbec tasting.

If you you like wine and haven't visited The Vintage Wine Shoppe yet, this place is a MUST! I attend a monthly wine tasting with a women's group I belong to and from the first time, I was incredibly impressed. Their selection of wines from all over the world and all regions is impressive! Whether you want from Italian, French, California, Spain, South Africa, Argentina, Chile, etc. they will probably have it! AND... their prices are surprisingly reasonable! I admit, I purchase a lot of wine at Costco because of their selection and prices, but The Vintage Wine Shoppe's prices are pretty close to the big box warehouse's. I was truly surprised when I compared prices of some of my favorite wines. I love that when I shop here I support a local business. The store is also surprisingly large, consisting of 4 rooms/sections. They carry many interesting wine supplies and tools like openers, carafes, wine glasses, decanters, etc. along with other home decor and great gift items. When I attend our monthly wine tastings, they give our group an additional 10% off our purchase which is GREAT! They also have FREE wine tastings on a pretty regular basis. You can join their email list to find out about the tastings as well as sales. And the STAFF... any time I am looking for something specific, they blow me away with their knowledge and recommendations. So don't be intimidated to ask questions or ask for suggestions. If you have a price range in mind, they can help you find something you will love within that price range.

Here's what I always tell my friends about this place. I say, "if you can think of a bottle of wine, they can find it for you". Huge selection, expert staff, and most importantly, the ability to get whatever you can think of somehow magically shipped there by the next morning. So you went to a restaurant and had a bottle of something and your friend wants to have it again but you can't find it? Call them and they'll get it, usually by tomorrow. I honestly don't know how they do this, but they've done it 3 out of 3 times when I made such requests. Absolutely outstanding. I actually won a bet with a friend once and he had to buy me a bottle because they had in stock something he thought no one would have. He called around looking and we just drove there and picked it up. Besides the amazing selection, incredible service and expert staff, they also may be having a random tasting when you walk in and you could very well end up spontaneously having a few glasses in the middle of the day. There may be a winemaker there on site autographing bottles, there may be a selection of cheeses for you to munch on. Need wine-related equipment? Openers? Special devices that allow you to recork or seal the rest up for tomorrow? They've got em. Chillers? Fancy gifts for mom? They've got em. I just can't think of any negative to bring up regarding this place. Wine drinkers of the city....if you haven't been here you're missing out. Get down there now.

Vintage Wine Shoppe is everything like Hop City but sells only wine only and requires a little more 'formal' than stumbling in with pajamas like I did. There's no dress code but standing in my PJs amongst businessmen stopping by to pick up something after work made me feel out of place. Fortunately, none of the staff makes you feel that way. You never ever sense they act like they know more than you. Even while one employee shares their favorite selection, another employee will chime in and strike up a conversation with you. I love how they also facilitate conversations between customers so you end up talking to 3 people at a time. Vintage Wine is located in a plaza that can clearly be seen on your drive down Hwy 280. It was a lovely discovery on my part amongst all the chain businesses established on this route. I also can't stress enough that this is one place a wine snob would reluctantly give a nod of respect as a result of their extensive wine selection, Auburn and Alabama paraphernalia, and twice weekly free wine tastings. The infrastructure of this place is gorgeous consisting of wine bottles stacked on wine bottles stacked on wine bottles. The walls are basically a library of wine bottles. I left with 2 bottles of respectable wine without breaking my wallet. The best part was the staff made made me excited to return for their future events. It helps they seem to remember you on every visit.

    Knick knacks all over.

Ask the Community - The Vintage Wine Shoppe

Do you carry Cakebread Chardonnay by chance?

In my experience they can get anything you ask them to get. Cakebread should be easy, its relatively common.
