We decided to get another controller (3rd party, in box). They added 25 bucks to our bill. When I initially declined, the guy says he'll take 5 bucks off if we get the controller, because we had bought a 26th game, Grand Theft Auto V. I said, sure. We left, got home and noticed that the 5 dollars wasn't removed from our bill. We didn't really care. No complaints. Fast forward to today and we still had the extra controller (still in original packaging) and we decided to exchange it for a real PS3 controller. Because the 3rd party one was very light and didn't handle well. Simply, we didn't like it. So, we called Ed Pawn's Shop on Harold, and they said they had the PS3 controllers. I get there, explained what happened and he was about to ring it up. At that point, I noticed he was just packaging up the controller. I said, "Where's the cord? The USB?" "That's 5 dollars extra." "Wait. Is that going to work without the cord?" "No, you have to charge it with the cord to your PS3." I already knew this. "Okay, so if it comes with the controller, why do I have to pay and extra 5 dollars?" ...Silence. "Okay, so last week... (I explained about the 5 dollar discount that was mistakenly left off our bill) The "manager" pipes up, "You don't expect me to remember a conversation from last week?!" "No, but I'm here now and you are charging me extra for a power supply on a controller that won't work without it, that is regularly sold with the system or when you buy a controller in the store." "You aren't buying a system." He says. "No, I bought it last week." I quipped back. "So, what do you want to do then? It's 5 bucks for the cord?" "Just give me back my controller then." "Nah, we already started the paperwork, give him the cord." They madly shuffled about in a box FULL of old USB cords, and he hands me that and the controller. "There, you happy now?" "Umm..I guess so?" Shocked, I walked out. I was so livid, I was shaking by the time I got back in the van. I will NEVER, EVER go to that place again. They charge you for something, and charge you extra for it to work? What next? They going to sell you a TV and charge you extra for a power cord?

When you hit the Finnish Bookstore, the selection is huge and most to all of it is stuff that you'd actually want to give someone. The place does hold true to its title. It is rooted in Finnish ancestry, as is a large portion of Thunder Bay. It also has Finnish books, those being both in Finnish and about Finland. Not knowing a word of Finnish, save "Mikä ajaa te alhainen 'paikalla ei enemmän kalja'?" I tended to stay away from that section. There are different sections of the stores for different needs, almost like a very scaled-down department store, but focussing on home-wears and gifts. You may want to peruse the kitchen-ware section as well. There is a main kitchen area that I'm pretty sure is used to run courses or demonstrations on cooking, most likely Finnish. So if you're lucky, some day you'll be able to come in, grab some new kitchen duds and feast in some Lihapullat.

Brought a box of books in to sell. At no point did they ever tell me that it was store credit only…read moreuntil I went back to see what they were offering. They essentially wasted my time by not being upfront when I called. The best part though was they had my books for a couple of days to look them over, when I got there and found out about the store credit only I declined and walked out. Got home to find out that the most expensive book in the box ($90 or more on eBay) was missing. Phoned to find out what happened to it and was essentially called a liar by the staff member I talked to. So I'm out an expensive book but The Bookshelf gained an expensive book and cost them nothing but an insult to a customer. Sell your books at your own risk there or at the very least check them before you leave the store, even then I wouldn't put it past them to try and gaslight you into thinking you never brought that book in. Never going back there. If it let me I'd put a few negative stars the experience was​ that horrible.

About a month ago, I purchased a salt shaker from them, namely because of its unusual colour which matched our kitchen walls perfectly. I paid about $60 for this salt shaker which is to most people's estimation, a lot of money for this kind of product. The grinder is warrenteed and the size of the grain is adjustable. Lately though, the paint near the logo of this Peugeot product started bubbling and peeling. I took it back to Kitchen Nook only to meet with a solid refusal to acknowledge their responsibility in selling me this product. I was told that the warrentee only covered the grinder which is true, but obviously I would not have bought if I knew this was going to happen. This is the first time our relationship has been tested in this way. They did not even apologize. In leaving me to cope with this inferior yet very expensive product, Kitchen Nook failed to retain my business. I will never return. Think twice before you shop there.
