I purchased a MiM Jazz Bass that appeared nearly new -- it still had the factory stickers on it. It played well, sounded good, and everything seemed fine. Before completing the purchase, I went to the in-store luthier and specifically asked him to give the truss rod a small turn just to confirm that it moved and functioned properly. He appeared to do so and even made a couple minor setup adjustments. Two months later, while restringing the bass, I noticed a bit of neck relief and went to check the truss rod myself. The nut is completely stripped. Not slightly worn. Not "a little rough." Completely stripped. So now there are only two possibilities: 1. I was told it had been adjusted when it hadn't. 2. The person adjusting it didn't recognize that the nut was already destroyed. Either way -- that's unacceptable. If it was dishonesty, that's trash service. If it was incompetence, that's also trash service. Had I been told, "Hey, the truss nut is stripped," I could have made an informed decision. I could have negotiated the price, replaced the nut myself, or walked away. It's not an expensive part. It's not a complex fix. What matters is transparency. Used gear is one thing. Misrepresentation -- whether intentional or careless -- is another. That's the real issue here.

I have given up on ever getting my amp or $60 "deposit" back since about a year ago…read more I took a broken amp to Danny's about around October 2023. He requested, and I gave him, a $60 "deposit". I gave him my phone number and he said something along the lines of "If you don't hear from me in a week, call me and say 'where the hell is my amp' ". I didn't hear from him, so I called and visited his "shop" within about 2 weeks and over the next ELEVEN months or so - up to the present. - He was unreachable during the stated business hours (and now his business phone is OUT OF SERVICE!!) or - he didn't get to it yet or - he needed to order capacitors or - he told me his father was dying - probably in April or May of 2024 or so. True or not? I gave him the benefit of the doubt and gave him more time. or - he indicated that the amp was on his workbench in the basement taken apart and he needed to order additional capacitors for it etc. etc... As mentioned his business phone number, (856) 662-2979, is now out of service. He is never in his shop when I visit during his business hours. For the sake of others, I hope that he is now out of business and can never rip off anyone else. He is either incompetent or a criminal, or both. I was dumb and didn't look at the existing Yelp reviews and thought I was doing a local business a favor by bringing him my amp. Lesson learned.

I'm a professional guitar player who was visiting Philadelphia from the west coast and decided to check out local music stores. The store was clean but beyond appearances this place was terrible. All the guitars I tried were dirty and out of tune; I told an employee that the truss rod needed to be adjusted on one and he didn't know what that was (a music store employee should know what that means). I couldn't hear myself try the guitar because the sole employee was signing and playing at the top of his lungs. I then asked him about how the teacher employment worked at their store and not only could he not answer, but he couldn't give me anyone's email or phone number to contact with questions. Levon has encouraged me to keep learning, and I'm quite glad he does so. For some people, they hop on YouTube to learn how to play a SONG; Levon teaches you to play the INSTRUMENT. Lessons are a combination of book work, theory, and a song of choice to help keep interest. I started about six months ago and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. My 11 year old has expressed interest too, and his first lesson is this Saturday! Can't wait to see how much enjoyment he gets out of it.

Being a smaller business they may lack the quantity merchandise that you may see in big name companies, but the customer service they have is amazing! You can really tell based off first interaction that they care about the needs of the customer that you may not get with other music shops.
