Imagine taking your car to a dealership for a warranty issue and they start replacing parts at your…read moreexpense, don't fix the issue, and when you say you won't pay for any more parts, they stop investigating the warranty. That's what happened to me because of the scammy nature of Culligan and this location's GM, Bob Warner. I had multiple issues in a year and a half of having the tankless RO under sink unit. This time, the filtration unit showed a concerning amount of TDS, 200+ ppm when my tap water is about 350. I called to order new filters and membrane in spite of everything being well within the time limit of utility. The front desk associate pointed out that the unit was still under warranty and scheduled me for a service visit. I clarified with her multiple times that the service visit would be free, since it was investigating a warranty, she confirmed. Once the Tech was at my house they changed the filters, it did not fix the problem. At that point we started discussing options and the tech called Bob. All of a sudden the service appointment was going to cost me $140, the filters that didn't fix the problem were costing me $145, and they wanted to see if a new membrane would fix the problem, which I would also have to pay for. Just to rule out a defective machine that was still under warranty. I talked it over with the Tech, they agreed with my concerns over spending money on a unit that was not functioning and called Bob again. The Tech did his best to make my case as the customer, but it was clear Bob micromanages and brow beats the employees from the phone call. After reviewing the invoice with the Tech and learning that I would be charged an ADDITIONAL service fee if I wanted the unit taken back to Culligan to have the unit itself investigated for warrantable malfunction, I requested to speak to Bob directly. I can't call Bob the name he deserves without fear of the review being taken down for explicit language, but I will use the weakest word that comes to mind: Scammer. He claimed that because the tech changed filters they were entitled to charge me a service fee. He showed no interest in due diligence in investigating the warranty, or helping us isolate the issue without continuing to charge me for parts. I told him that people on Reddit call out Culligan for being "Pirates and scammers" all the time, and said that's how he was acting. He eventually relented on the original service fee after lying to me that the front desk employee said they clarified the charge would apply if they changed filters (believe me, I would have remembered that since it calls into question what exactly they would be doing to honor the warranty). Since this is not my first time talking to Bob, not my first time having to become actually angry with him in order for him to do what I consider the right thing, we decided to cease all services with Culligan. Now we have a defective unit, still under warranty for 5 months, and no way to get it fixed or refunded. SCAM ALERT. The comparable systems you can get from Amazon cost less than what they wanted to charge me to investigate their warranty.

Adrian, a service tech, came out and taught us how and when to change out the filters and add salt. He was an encyclopedia of knowledge and had solutions to some of the issues we had questions about. The service call included everything we had hoped for and we feel more confident operating this complex water system. And we know that if we should need additional support, they are just one phone call away.

While I received a…read morecall back from a manager or owner fairly quickly, he introduced himself as Valverde rather than Bond. I don't recall phoning Valverde, thus confusion regarding what type of service provider was calling, as I have made many calls to a few types of repair people for multiple quotes. When I asked for clarity, the person on the other end of the line was rude in response... within the first 10 seconds. Ok, I'll let that slide--maybe he hasn't had his coffee yet. During the call, as we were discussing the replacement of kitec plumbing--a well documented safety risk with a class-action lawsuit that makes homes uninsurable--the owner was rude in tone. I got the impression that our phone call was annoying to him, and he likely thinks I am stupid. He asserts that the recalled plumbing is fine unless visibly leaking and "its basic" to tell if it leaks. This information is demonstrably FALSE as documented clearly in the class action suit. I let him go mid call. Not only is he rude, but misinforming a potential customer in a negligent manner. Hopefully his license covers negligence, as he might need it. If I am going to give someone tens of thousands of dollars to do work in my home, it is reasonable to expect a basic level of respect during the first phone call (and beyond). After speaking to the presumed owner, I feel bad for whomever the nice secretary is. She must be on the receiving end of his customer service skills all day. I will never call this company again.
