This company evidently does very good work and has all the business they can handle. I called and while very briefly describing my issue got a rather snippy response: "We're 5 to 6 weeks out." Okay Bond Plumbing, sorry to bother you. Happily, my problem was not an emergency, but I will not be calling them again! Edit: 09/13/2022 As a result of a reply from the president and owner of this business within hours after my initial post, I am revising my rating from 2 to 4 stars. Being a former business owner myself, I understand the problems and frustrations of finding and keeping skilled employees. From the other reviews, this company may very well do 5 star work. However, I view plumbing as a service business, and a big part of service is providing it when the customer needs it. Who can wait 5 to 6 weeks if they have an emergency? My issue was not an emergency, but it was progressing, so I felt it needed attention before it became one. I called Bond for a quote on a house that I am in the process of purchasing. While I received a call back from a manager or owner fairly quickly, he introduced himself as Valverde rather than Bond. I don't recall phoning Valverde, thus confusion regarding what type of service provider was calling, as I have made many calls to a few types of repair people for multiple quotes. When I asked for clarity, the person on the other end of the line was rude in response... within the first 10 seconds. Ok, I'll let that slide--maybe he hasn't had his coffee yet. During the call, as we were discussing the replacement of kitec plumbing--a well documented safety risk with a class-action lawsuit that makes homes uninsurable--the owner was rude in tone. I got the impression that our phone call was annoying to him, and he likely thinks I am stupid. He asserts that the recalled plumbing is fine unless visibly leaking and "its basic" to tell if it leaks. This information is demonstrably FALSE as documented clearly in the class action suit. I let him go mid call. Not only is he rude, but misinforming a potential customer in a negligent manner. Hopefully his license covers negligence, as he might need it. If I am going to give someone tens of thousands of dollars to do work in my home, it is reasonable to expect a basic level of respect during the first phone call (and beyond). After speaking to the presumed owner, I feel bad for whomever the nice secretary is. She must be on the receiving end of his customer service skills all day. These plumbers can be great or terrible, and this time they were terrible. All they had to do was replace a shower fixture and cartridge and over the two days they created a huge mess in my house with no consideration for preventing damage to my carpets and wood floors. They reluctantly wore booties but then got them soaked and tracked muddy footprints everywhere -- even outside on my deck and on my wood floors, at least 20 footprints. Then, they used white instead of almond silicone and never even siliconed the chrome cap for the shower head -- just left it dangling. They chipped my tile, left pebbles inside the shower so I couldn't just spray it clean, and it took two days for them to cause me extreme grief (I am partially disabled and couldn't clean this up by myself). They even spit their gum and ground it into my wood by my deck. Totally rude and disrespectful. read more

This is an update. Invoice sent is the original unapproved invoice with the no show indicated. Which the directions given to the Techs was wrong. The Techs did not knock on our correct door. They were at the wrong house, but billed us for $137.50. The Techs even indicated on the invoice "NO CHARGE???". If the Techs showed up at the correct house, my husband was home. Also, after specifically telling he Admin what we wanted the Techs showed up the next day w/o the heater or any instructions as to what we wanted done. Unknowledgeable, more expensive, and a disinterest in customer satisfaction. They send 2 people on every call no matter how simple. I had a problem with radiant flooring heat, the plumber who came to my house quickly diagnosed my problem but wired the new circuit board wrong. After 3 follow up calls, still not fixed. One of the follow up calls was a different plumber tech that advised me he was not well trained in tankless heaters and I would be better off rescheduling with his co-worker. I called their competitor instead; they fixed problem in 15 minutes. I emailed the owner Larry to inform him of my experience. He was polite and acknowledged me but did not follow up or attempt to really correct the situation. I spent close to 2500.00 guess that's not enough to get their attention, I can only hope it gets your attention. I don't mind paying for quality work but with Bond, I paid a lot and got a half fixed solution. I really can't recommend them, if you have a simple problem, they are probably ok but why spend so much more money than other qualified plumbers in the area who really want to serve you well. Under ground water leak. Sticker shock is all I can describe it as. They sent two helpers and a plummer who took one hour to decide whether to do the job or not. While he evaluated the situation the two helpers stood around. I was charged for the hour they stood around. It does not take 3 guys to evaluate a job. Wife made appt three weeks prior to service our on demand water system. Appt set for 1 pm 12/8/23. They called and asked if they could come at 11. Wife said okay. No call/no show by 1130. Wife calls them. Oh-they had to go do a quick snake job and should be there by 1 or 1:30. Great. I had taken off the rest of the day so I could learn about the system in this house we just bought 6 mo. ago. 3 pm rolls around. Again, no call/no show. Wife calls and now they don't plan on coming out. DO NOT use this company. Unreliable. Poor customer service and not respectful of homeowner's time. Response to Bond: you're full of it. I checked with them. You weren't there that long and the excuse you provided does not match with the below. Bottom line: don't make appts if you don't plan to keep them: if you have an issue, reschedule. Call your customers. ZERO effort. I had to lose 4 hrs of work waiting for you. We have been loyal customers for years and recommended Bond to several others. After two terrible experiences in a row, we will never use or recommend them again. Unfortunately, they are not the reliable and honest company that they used to be. In the past, we have had two on demand hot water heaters descaled by one technician for $190 plus tax. The process was quick and the tech knew what he was doing. In December, we had ONLY ONE heater descaled. Two technicians showed up but one was obviously a trainee as he did nothing but stand around while the "lead" tech told him what he was doing. However, the "lead" tech was obviously not familiar with how to descale an on demand hot water heater either. He asked for our owner's manual, which he spent time reading trying to figure out how to clean the system. When he still could not figure it out, he called someone several times who seemed to know how it should be done and talked him through it. When he was not calling others to inquire how to do his job, he was taking calls from another crew and trying to talk them through whatever job they were doing. During the longest amount of time that he was not on the phone, another Bond crew pulled up in our driveway and both men went outside and hung out in our driveway talking to them for a significant amount of time. Eventually, in theory, he completed the job while the second guy stood around watching. Once they left, we found our owner's manual soaked in water. It took two months to receive an invoice and find out they severely overcharged us. We were charged $380 plus tax! That is twice the price for half the work done in the past! I have tried, unsuccessfully, to inquire about this huge discrepancy multiple times. They simply do not respond. I finally gave up today and paid $406.13 for the descaling of ONE heater! Our terrible Bond experience does not end with getting ripped off. Before receiving the overcharged invoice, since it took two months, we scheduled an appointment for a clogged toilet that was backing up into the shower. Long story short, after THREE NO CALL, NO SHOWS and three days wasted staying home all day waiting for them to show up, we found a new plumber who showed up exactly when he said he would, showed he was knowledgeable and did quality work for a fair price. We received his invoice the very next day. Bond is no longer a honest reliable company and we will never use or recommend them again. read more

A tech came out for the initial inspection for our lack of hot water. The tech left and stated the owner would contact me at a later date. The owner did call about a week later and gave a verbal estimate over the phone. I asked if this estimate could be emailed to me. Larry said yes and I never received an email. About a month later Larry contacted my wife and inquired if we got what we needed. My wife gave the phone to me where I spoke with Larry again. Larry stated that he would have his assistant schedule an appointment for him to come out himself the following week to give a proper estimate for the work needing to be complete because it appeared we would need more than originally thought. No call ever came and Larry never showed up. I then received a bill for services rendered. They never completed the estimate process for the work that needed to be completed and then expected a bill for the "estimate" they never provided. The people at Bond Plumbing are great. The woman who schedules the appointments could be a plumber herself. She had so much helpful advice, really knew her stuff. Also, she was reassuring when I described problems. The plumbers themselves were friendly and knowledgable and had access to materials if they found they needed something once they arrived. They are a true part of the community, putting people without heat first, as is appropriate. I had a plumbing problem in my sculpture studio and called Bond (Valverde Energy) for help. They returned my call promptly at 8am and came out quickly to access the problem. The first team seem confused a bit and did not have equipment to auger the lines, but the second team that came really knew plumbing. They really are as good as it gets. I called, around noon, to see if they could come out right away, since the house was being painted and I needed to know where a water stain was coming from. They were really busy, but were able to get someone here the next morning. They sent Diego and Herbert, who were great. They found the problem and I had them check my heating system, since I had water marks around it. They recognized the problems right away and I had them fixed. Best service I ever had. I would feel perfectly comfortable calling this company anytime I have a plumbing problem. Started as a simple repair for less than a thousand, but Bond told me the current hot water delivery system was not up to code. He kept adding what had to be done. When the state inspector came he told me the original installation did meet code. In the dead of winter Bond left us without water, or hot water or heat sometimes all three for 24 days before the job was done. What was estimated to be a job of a little over a thousand dollars turned into over $5000 with an installation that did not meet code, voided the warranty, and left us with a trickle of luke warm water when we turned on the hot water faucet. We confronted Bond with 8.5 no show hours that Bond would not account for. We asked to sit down and work thru the conflict. Bond's response? See you in court. So we wrote checks for over $4000 representing what we thought we owed, and another check for the disputed amount of $1700, stipulating that this check be held until the courts decided the issue. I was amazed at Larry's experience and expertise (especially with Thermal & PV solar systems). Larry inspected our thermal solar system, which he designed and installed, with 1 minor maint. issue in 7 years, inspected the septic system, roof & some electrical. We've had Bond Plumbing (also Valverde Energy - same owner) make repairs when needed over the years and we've been very satisfied with the company's work. This is a long review, but PLEASE, PLEASE read before you use this company. We contacted Bond Plumbing in March 2016 because my mom needed her sewer line augured at her home and gallery. We live in Colorado Springs and, although my husband is a plumbing contractor, we could not get to Taos in a timely manner to take care of the problem she was having. However, my husband had augured the line once at an earlier date. He did it by himself, and it took about four hours. He charges $75 per man, per hour so he estimated the job should have been around $300. March 28 - Bond sent two men to my mom's home to do the job. They called me later in the afternoon to inform me that they had lost the sewer cable they had been using for the job. They couldn't explain how or why that happened, but it did. Subsequently, they charged us for two men at $70 per hour for 7.5 hours - part of this time included trying to find the cable. Our bill was now at $1050.00. March 29 - the two men returned in order to dig up the cable. They brought a backhoe and charge us $90 an hour for 5.5 hours for a total of $495 on top of the labor charge of $70 a man for 8.5 hours ($1190). Our total bill after two days was now $2735. Here's the funny thing....we didn't lose the cable. They did. Even more amusing, they lost it because they ran it in the wrong direction. I quote from the invoice "Sewer line where we dug was empty, no cable. Dug on the other side of the clean-outs to find sewer line." They found the broken cable which they then left on my mom's patio until we threw it away. March 30 - The two men returned to actually augur the line. They also tied the sewer line back into the main sewer line because they had to disconnect it the day before in order to find the cable. Again, two men at $70 an hour for 7.5 hours. We were at $3785! While they were doing all the digging, my husband asked them to go ahead and move one clean out to a more convenient spot about 10 feet from where it originally was. Why not? The ground was all torn up and the backhoe was already there. Materials for this cost us $213.61 and the use of the augur machine cost $85 for a grand total of $4,083.61! Fortunately, we were given a 10% discount as a customer courtesy since my husband is in the same business. My mom paid $500 on the spot in good faith. We ended the three days at $3437.11 including the tax. Unbelievable, right? Just to get a sewer line augured? In early April, the line was still backing up. My mom called Bond to see if they could come augur it again. She also wanted to know what they were going to do about the torn up drive way and parking area. After the backhoe work, it was just left as it was. It had since rained and the entire area was a muddy, slippery mess. Customers and delivery people cannot drive in or park at the gallery. There was a two-foot sinkhole. Waste Management called because they couldn't get into the driveway to empty the dumpster. The new clean out that my husband requested had not been finished. A white PVC pipe was sticking up about two feet in the middle of the parking area with an orange cone next two it. Needless to say, it was eventually hit and broken. April 13 - The two men arrived to augur the line again. This time it only took them TWO hours. The entire bill is $391.01 and that included the augur machine and tax! This is what we expected the first time!! May 9 - FINALLY, after many phone calls, the two men arrived with gravel base and a backhoe to fix the drive. Our bill states that we are not charged for three hours of "digging out the old trench." We don't know what 'trench' they are referring to or why it would take three hours with a backhoe. You could dig out the entire driveway in three hours. We are also not charged for three hours for the backhoe. We are billed for one hour of labor for two men, the tamper, and the base gravel for a total of $455.28. As of today, after paying $1000 and incurring a finance charge in April (even though the driveway wasn't addressed until May), we have an outstanding balance of $3323.46. My husband has asked Bond Plumbing to step away from the job. He will finish the new clean out himself. If you choose to use Bond Plumbing, just remember that you were warned. read more
