The owner is extremely rude, unprofessional and truly does not care about her clients. My first visit was for a brow wax with one of her employees. She did an ok job but was not able to communicate in English at all- which made the appointment difficult. On my second visit I had the owner and she was rude. She told me I had crazy brows. I told her I was growing them out because they had become too thin. She barely waxed them and told me to wait longer. She was never welcoming or kind. On my third visit while I was laying on the table she combed and then trimmed my brows. Then suddenly I felt something wet on my brows. She was DYEING my brows without my permission nor consent. She did not cover my eyes nor protect them in any way. I told her to take it off and she did. She curtly said "sorry" when I sat up. I told her I was done and leaving and she had just lost a client. She said " I don't care." This woman does respect nor value her clients. I would not trust her with hot wax near my face again. She also appears to be using the same hair color brush on everyone. It was covered in hair dye and just sitting on her table. She does not seem to be following industry safety standards. This salon has been reported to the proper agencies due to the actions of the owner. read more

I'm a new customer of Pilar's and I love this cute little boutique spa! The Waxing Corner is located right on Dillard St in Winter Garden. It's a converted residence a few minutes from downtown WG. There is free, private, off-street parking behind the house. I have had waxing and a facial here and Pilar has really helped my skin. Her facial helped reduce redness due to rosacea, and she recommended some products for me to use at home to keep the effect. As far as waxing services, she makes you feel right at home, and I felt almost instantly like an old friend. She's very quick and skilled; she uses the hard wax, so no strips needed. She also gets a fresh stick each time she dips in the wax, in case you are concerned about that. She also offers manicure and pedicure services, though I have not had either one there. She also offers a loyalty rewards program at this time; it's a punch-card type system that gets you your 6th service free. I think her prices are extremely competitive. She is set up to accept tips on credit cards; many places expect you to have cash for tips, so this is a nice courtesy at Waxing Corner. The Waxing Corner isn't stuffy or pretentious or snobby--I really felt comfortable there. Her location is convenient for Winter Garden residents, and I am new faithful client. I go to see Nilda every so often to get my eyebrows, underarms and legs waxed and I'm never disappointed! She always takes her time, especially with the eyebrows to make sure they're even. She has you check carefully to make sure she got every hair and will always try her best to get every last one. WOW! I was vacationing in Orlando when I visited Pilar at The Waxing Corner. This woman knows what she is doing! I have been getting waxed for many years and have sensitive skin, so my standards and expectations are pretty high. I had a proper Brazilian wax with her at the most reasonable rate! I live in San Francisco where it would have cost me twice as much for half the service. The shop is cute and clean, and Pilar was very friendly, professional. The first time I visited this place, I had waxing done by Pilar. She was fast and did a great job. The last two visits, I saw the women who assist her and have been so disappointed, I won't be back. I went to Pilar the first time in 2012 and loved her then but hadn't continued waxing at all since. Just this Tuesday I went back and after 6 years she remembered me and it was like time hadn't even passed! As per usual the Brazilian was practically pain free and she left me looking better than ever! Then I asked about skin care because I have some sun spots but also vitiligo so I have to be careful about what I do to my skin since any injury can make me lose pigment. She examined my skin and applied the products that made sense for my needs now. A little dry but mostly the variance in my skin tones from forehead to chest. But never did she push anything nor did I feel pressured to buy. However the immediate results I saw with the few products was compelling. I'm happy to say I purchased at a great promo price and I'll be using these products exclusively to even out my skin. I really feel confident with everything she explained that I'll see even better results as I continue to improve my sun spots without compromising my melanin. I've taken quite a bit a of time to decide if I actually wanted to write a review for this. I hate to speak bad about anyone who tries to do their best but unfortunately I didn't feel like the "best" was even attempted at my visit. I had my legs waxed by the owner. She seemed to be occupied the entire time. At first she was nice and welcoming. She said she could tell I had sensitive skin so she was going to use a specific wax for that. She used three different waxes. Missed many sections on my legs. Basically the entire back side of one of my thighs. I left with spots of wax all over my legs. It was incredibly painful, there was no pressure added after a pull and she continued over some spots many times with the different waxes. She asked if I wanted a Brazilian or a bikini wax and I said no for the Brazilian but I thought about the bikini and said "but no that's okay" which I'm assuming she only heard the ok because she went ahead and did it and then said "don't be a chicken" when I said no to the Brazilian. She also asked if I spoke Spanish in which I responded "I do not" and she assumed because of my name I did which she seemed annoyed by and she continued to speak to me in Spanish which I had to say I did not understand her 3 times and instead of telling me what she was saying she just stayed quiet the rest of the time. She was very aggressive with her rips and then she used some sort of wax roller on my legs that she pushed really hard with and actually bruised me and I even got an infection on my legs afterwards. I didn't want to say anything Becuase I thought maybe she was having a bad day but based on the state of my leg I was advised to post this. Especially since this was days before my wedding. I hope other people have better experiences but I will not be back to this location. read more

I have been to the Waxing corner a few times and every time I go, they make you feel very comfortable. It's a small little spa that gives wonderful service for waxing and facials. I have never had a facial and decided to try it out with Pilar, she was fantastic! She explained to me what she was doing in terms of what she was applying and gave me advice on how to better take care of my skin, not to mention I received an arm and hand massage. My skin feels different and even my husband says that my face is brighter after my facial. This place feels very homely and very different from all the big spas. This is a place that I will definitely visit for any of my waxing or facial needs especially when their price is reasonable. I went to Pilar for only a half leg wax the first time, and we happened to have a conversation about how i had just gotten a chemical peel at another salon on the same day. She gave me a great leg wax, but after our conversation, she looked at my skin and was so concerned that I take care of my face after getting a peel even from another salon that she offered to let me come back a week later so that she could check out my skin for free to see how I was doing. She was really concerned that I needed good advice about my skin care after my peel...again, from ANOTHER salon. She really seemed to care about me overall, even though I was just there for a leg wax. She doesn't just do waxes; she is also a registered aesthetician. I have since been back for two chemical peels and a bikini wax. I was TERRIFIED of getting a wax, due to past experiences at other salons,but it was nothing at all. Pilar uses cold wax that does not stick to your skin like hot wax, and the pain was not anything I couldn't handle, and I am a wimp for pain. I've had hot waxes before where I bled and bruised. After my wax with Pilar I wasn't even red. I really on a scale of one to ten felt about a three for a deep bikini wax, in my most sensitive areas. I went in for my first Brazilian and I was so scared, not knowing what to expect. Nilda was awesome. She is very knowledgeable and she makes you feel really comfortable. The place is very clean and organized and she uses hard wax. As far as the pain of waxing down there, the pain is a 3 on a scale of 1 to 10.
