I am writing this review to warn patients and report a highly unprofessional encounter I had today, June 30, 2026, with your receptionist, "Jarice". During our phone conversation regarding a missing prescription--medication that is vital to my daily health--Jarice's conduct was entirely unacceptable. When I explained that the pharmacy had not received the order, she began yelling at me, accusing me of "not listening to her". Throughout the remainder of the call, she maintained a condescending and belittling tone. Most egregiously, when I asked for her name to document the interaction, she immediately hung up on me. This level of hostility and lack of empathy is dangerous in a healthcare setting, particularly when a patient is attempting to manage essential prescriptions. If you seek excellence and dedication, Dr. Waynik is the psychiatrist for you. I also recommend his therapists should you need additional support. The Dr. is very careful to explain all medications before prescribing and follows up "in session" on any changes needed. He does not "over medicate " as implied in negative reviews. His receptionists and technicians are kind, helpful, attractive and attentive. Occasionally there is a wait on phone calls which I understand. The girls manage the front office well and work as a team. They balance a variety of tasks. Reception is always upbeat. Yes, it is a busy office which indicates a high demand for his services. Because I have experience in this field, I understand patients can arrive very anxious. I'd rather plan on a 10 minute wait to relax. I drive 30 miles since I have relocated and do not want a fast paced hectic practice. Dr Waynik is absolutely the best in his field and admired by others in his profession with years of experience. The Dr. pays close attention to your demeanor and is interested in your life . I admire is ability to listen well while being courteous and giving feedback. He is a calm man who will address medical challenges for those of all ages. I'd recommend you allow 10 minutes to "check in" and make your co pay. There are "set hours" for lunch break times and to request refills. He is easy to speak with, never rushing his clients. He does return calls. This building is handicap accessible (with elevator) and offers easy parking close to the front entrance where you can be dropped off. His 40 plus years in a demanding medical field speaks to his excellence and quality of service as a dedicated psychiatrist. Where do I start?! There are not enough "characters" to describe how terrible this practice is for patients who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Not only is the office staff (in both locations) RUDE - they all lack empathy and patience, their cold, dismissive, and annoyed attitude makes me wonder if they are in the correct chair. The entire staff seems to need to speak with a counselor. They send out appointment reminder calls "at random" and if "you don't get one, oh well", they charge an arm and a leg, plus a liver for a missed appointment top of your other arm, leg, and kidney for the appointment itself. Providers can just decide to stop treating certain patients at their discretion (which ultimately is OK); HOWEVER, the practice does not proactively make patients aware of this change, allow them to select a new provider, or opt not to be seen by a random person so they can then go find a doctor at a different practice. Just the way they answer the phone, how they answer, and immediately say "please hold" and then don't come back to the line for several minutes is incredible. NO ONE takes any accountability or responsibility when scheduling conflicts occur, and it is automatically put on the patient; the patient is gaslit into being told they are being difficult or unmanageable for simply explaining the series of events that led up to whatever misunderstanding/issue that has occurred. It's hard to believe that these people applied to work in a mental health provider's office, yet they use abusive tactics when speaking with patients. Blaming, gaslighting, sarcasm, dismissing, mocking, being defensive, being vague, misleading, blackmailing, are all qualities of a person that SHOULD NOT be working with this demographic of people, and yet there are not one but TWO offices full of office staff that have NO BEDSIDE MANNER. The office staff should have been enough to make me leave this practice, but because availability is so scarce, I stayed longer than I should have. Overstaying my "welcome" resulted in watching a doctor fall asleep while I was talking, and being changed to 2 different providers before I finally had had enough with being treated like a moron. I left this practice, found another on my own, and came to find out HE TOO left this practice because of the way patients are treated by the receptionists, the billing person, the nurses, the counselors, the PAs, the psychologists, YOU NAME IT - THEY ARE ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL trash, if you want help with your mental health and not just a place to get pills, DO NOT go here. read more

My daughter, who is a college student, had a scheduled appointment with Sara Niego, at this office and prior to the appointment no one from this office informed us of the huge $200+ co-pay they were looking for us to pay at the time of service. When we arrive, we were told of this amount and that we have to pay up front and before we could see the doctor. My daughter was confused and upset and when she looked at me, I asked the receptionist what she had said to her. When I heard it, I said, well, we can't afford this, and ask why no one had informed us of this prior. The receptionist wasn't very "warm" or understanding, just cold, as if she did expect us black folks to be able to afford their services in the first place. They didn't offer any other options, no payment plans, and had no compassion so I said we will have to re-schedule and we left. Why did they just send me a $150 bill for a missed appointment. Then, when I called the office, instead of admitting that they are in the wrong, they want to tell you that you are screaming at them. they want to note the account. I think we dodged a bullet. if we had been informed properly we could have made a better decision on whether or not we wanted to pursue these services or not. this is the exact reason as to why people don't want to go to the doctor's office anymore. read more

Care quality, I've been going to the Fairfield office sent my son was five. He is now 22 now I attend this office because they will no longer take my son insurance. You can no longer be seen there.. l an appointment missed because I had the flu in December 2023, but did a virtual the next day. They charged me 75 dollars. I explained that I'm on a fixed income. I don't have extra money. I then called back to pay $50 they declined it. So now I have no meds. They don't care it's all about money read more

A group of can't be bothered people running the operation. Been a patient here for years but I'm about done with it. I went into the office today 10/1/24 @ 5pm (my fault) when my appointment was for the day before. I'll take responsibility for this mishap but what is extremely frustrating is the lady at the desk couldn't be bothered to look up or acknowledge me for a solid 5 minutes while I stood patiently for her to even say hello. This hasn't been the first time at this practice. She then proceeded to tell me she was supposed to be off of the clock (as if that's my problem). After giving me grief about her personal issues she begrudgingly asked for my info and told me I had no appointment and it was for yesterday, adding in a snarky tone that I was also charged. I asked if I could pay and reschedule and she looked at me as if I was insane and said she wouldn't because the office was closed. Nothing else, nothing more. I left and was annoyed enough to drop this review. In other recent circumstances, I have a medication that is on backorder and is extremely hard to track down to fill. The people here refuse to lift a finger to help me get it filled. They are happy to write a script and charge you but don't give a f*** if it gets filled or if you are being treated. On common experience, I've been a patient here for years and have been through at least 7 prescribers but have never had the common courtesy to be told until I book that they are no longer in practice. Other common experiences would be extremely long wait times when calling into the office to book appointments, issues with them and insurance companies (both who point the finger at each other for who is responsible for questions around medication), unreliable appointment reminders (how about texts in 2024), etc. Bunch of can't be bothered people who cause more mental problems than they cure. read more

Dr Waynik is very nice, however he does not care about the amount of time people have to wait in his waiting room. I have a lot of patience, however I have now lost my temper. After waiting for 1 hour and 20 minutes for my last appointment, I finally left. And I left because of concerns about the amount of people in the waiting room (a lot of coughing and nose-blowing - maybe covid?). Two weeks later, I got a bill for $70 for a missed appointment. If I could give these people no star; that is what they rate. I give them a zero for no customer service and no respect of a client's time. They wasted my time, I booked an appointment a month ahead for an important matter I needed help with. They call and canceled my appointment 5 days ahead. When I reached out to Lorie to plead my case as my deadline to submit medical records to my employer was approaching; she basically told me to kick rocks. There was no sense of empathy or compassion, not even an understanding of how they wasted my time and how it made my mental health challenges worse. Don't go there for the sake of your peace and mental health. They give no care about you, they will gladly take your money though for no service. I've been going to the Waynick group for at least the last 14 years. Everytime I've called to schedule an appointment I've been told "Waynick Group please hold." Everytime! I've been on hold for 15 minutes many times and wound up hanging up. This morning was the worst trying to make an appointment. They open at 9:00. I called at 9:10 and was told "Waynick Group please hold". Hung up after waiting 10 minutes. Same thing for the next 3 times calling. Each waiting for at least five minutes. On the fifth time after being asked if I could please hold I yelled "NO!!!!" Finally some action. She told me there was no need to yell. Huh? She threatened to hang up. She told me they're short handed. I told her for at least 12 years I've been told to please hold. I've been going to just have my meds refilled. Completely disappointed in how I was treated by Dr. Scneider today. Ive been asking for over a month to have FMLA paperwork completed as my symptoms have worsen since COVID-19. I am simply asking for this as a form of protection for my job. Instead Dr. Schneirder told me that if I dont want to work i can get fired and they will find someone else to take my job. I called two weeks ago to refill a prescription and was told I needed to have an appointment on the book in order for that to happen. So I made the appointment and waited for my prescription to be filled. A week later I call and still no prescription because now they won't fill it until I am seen. My appointment is only a few weeks away, but they still won't refill it. I was seen less than a year ago so it's not like I haven't been there in two years which I would understand. They would rather have someone go off their medication which could be dangerous than just filling a prescription. Clearly, I will not be going back. I entered Mark Waynik's office 20 years ago this Sept.. I was in a state of deep despair having barely survived a tumultuous 2 year divorce/ /custody battle. If there is anyone in the world that is thinking about going to The Waynik Group (Trumbull or Fairfield) for any type of depression issues, manic issues, suicide or anything that has to do with mental stability, please rethink your options. I have been going to this group of doctors (or what ever they are) for over 10 years. My mom passed away suddenly and she was the only relative I had on this earth. I did not handle it well. I tried to get in her coffin with her. No scam - honest truth.... and I was told to visit this group. I have been through 3 doctors (or what ever they are) and I still CANNOT get the prescriptions they have me on in a timely fashion. The doctor that I am currently with told me several times - if you have a problem with your refills, please ask to speak with me. Well, he is either on vacation or out ill every time I try to request refills. Today was no different. My refills are 2 weeks overdue and I was told he is on vacation. I am continually bothered by stress and anxiety and yet they make my life a living hell every month. They told me today that they don't take requests from the pharmacy any longer. Interesting... When I asked the secretary staff employee, once again, how can I get my prescriptions refilled, the employee hung up. Guess Suicide is now an option. Don't EVER let suicide be your only option!!! At the point that this hack piece of garbage (my therapist mind you) answered my wife's cell phone, incidentally he was also her dr and therapist ( clear ethics violation) . it was more than evident that his skills were sub-par and his ethics were extremely compromised. I would avoid this dr at all costs. It's amazing that he is still recognized or certified by any medical board. He later, after he prescribed so many meds to her that resulted in a suicide attempt dumped her as a patient, it was very clear that his motives and 'healing techniques' were entirely self serving and illegitimate. (As a fact, when he over or inappropriately Medicare's you he will drop you to avoid malpractice litigation) but I guess they all do that. -Zero counseling of any kind, but judgment in Spaids. This man should not be allowed to practice. Additionally it was clear that he pushed any rx that was dropped off by the pharmaceutical salespeople. I just needed whatever they just dropped off. Immediately after the sales pitch you just heard it again the second you sat down in his office. Incidentally, we were divorced prior to this and this is in no way a revenge review. It's an honest account of a practitioner that you should avoid. And I sincerely hope that highwatch, the place that recommended this parasite and helped me immensely will take notice of this review and continue the level of professionalism that they hold internally by caring for there patients in a more conscientious manner and improve their follow up with external doctors. Absolutely the worst customer service ever. They do not answer their phones, it is impossible to get through to them directly--and when you do messages still get lost. Called 10 days ago (TWICE) for a refill request (never went through to insurance), Pharmacy put in TWO requests for refill and they never responded. Now my daughter is OUT of her medications. Our THIRD request might take 72 hours to go through insurance. Unacceptable and Unethical behavior for medical professionals.....especially when well-being is on the line. I have been in and out of therapy at different times in my life and for different reasons. I have had some therapists and doctors that were better than others. I feel especially fortunate to have been referred the the Waynik Group. I waited longer than I would have anticipated for my first appointment and was wondering how the office would be since I had waited so long and was feeling more depressed more sad every day. Once I became a patient I felt immediately understood by Dr. Niego and she made me feel like I was her only concern. It was a wonderful feeling to hear she would not stop trying until I was feeling better. She also recomended Gayle Hoffman who I connected with right away. It's been 6 months and I feel I have made amazing positive changes in my life. I feel better and feel extraordinarily fortunate to have them on my side. I read some reviews about the wait time and phone issues. To that I would tell you it is a very busy office and there are a lot of people working the phones. It is worth the wait . I have found all the people in the office courteous and friendly and Very busy. I also have been frustrated at times but the benefit of these people outweighs a few extra minutes on hold. He is kind , non-judgmental , caring and sincere. He is professional , courteous and an expert in his field . I have been going here for 3 years just to get my anxiety medicine. I would go somewhere else if I knew of a reputable place. The patients that go here, including myself, are suffering from anxiety and/or other issues. This place just makes them worse. It is a joke. It is impossible to get prescriptions filled on time. They are the only providers I know that will not allow the pharmacy to contact them about a prescription refill; you have to keep calling the office & pharmacy. They won't fill it for 48-72 hours... unless your provider is on vacation in which case it will take " a little longer" And don't bother them with phone calls because they get annoyed with you lol. In today's world, with all of the people suffering from mental illness, you would think these people would be a little more accommodating & helpful. Maybe Mr. Waynik should read some of these reviews and do something to improve the business that bears his name. read more

if I could give them 0 stars I would. This Is about the 11th time they have not refilled my simple prescription. I have given them up to 2 weeks advance notice and still the day before I am on the phone with my insurance company begging them to see if they can force these people to refill my medication so I can get on with my day to day life. My medication is vital to me being able to support my family and these people genuinely don't give a crap. I am understanding the first 5 times but I can remember a single time it has been smooth operating with them in the over 2 years I have been seeing my doctor here. i know it is so hard to find someone to support your mental health right now with the pandemic, however, find any other place but here. I don't typically write reviews, but this can't be ignored. I KNOW i am not the only one to have experienced this as I've spoken to several people who a patients here. The customer service is laughable. They are the most unprofessional group of people I've ever dealt with. The front desk lady (at least in the Fairfield office) is SO nasty. She makes it known that she hates her job and you're actually bothering her by calling. Rude is an understatement. I can't understand how someone like her has a job as the FRONT DESK. Front desk admin are supposed to be the forefront of a business and represent it in the best way possible. This has to be one of the worst offices I've ever delt with, they cancelled two appointments in a row randomly without much of an explanation and when I made a third appointment, they sent me a letter stating that the doctor would no longer be treating me and are now trying to charge me for a missed appointment that they never told me I had and has allowed me to go without my medicine on more than one occasion after explaining that I've run out, don't ever use this office or their doctors they are money driven and do not care about the well being of their clients, too bad yelp doesn't offer negative stars because that's what they deserve read more

I've been seeing Dr. Waynik for over 10 years for my depression & anxiety medication prescriptions. They insist on me coming in every 3 months for a 10-min office visit for him to renew the same prescriptions I've been on for years. Their phone system is archaic and you always get put on hold. I've been trying to renew my current prescriptions by phone for 2 wks and keep getting their answering service during business hours. They're closed from 12-1:30 from lunch and then close the phones at 4. My prescriptions are still not renewed!! This practice is a factory!! Find another if you can!! read more

Well, lesson learned... I should have read the reviews before I made the mistake of going to this practice. I also had an awful experience during my first and last appointment at the Waynik Group. I saw a PA, David Barth. I waited for over 50 minutes, which was not a problem at all; I am in the healthcare field and understand how medical practices work. I only mention it because to have the experience I had AND have to wait almost an hour to endure what I did only makes it more painful. I was there primarily to get help stopping an antidepressant that I had been prescribed 1 month prior, due to a complicated medical issue. I was told that I needed to wean off the drug slowly to avoid unpleasant withdrawal symptoms, and that needs to happen under the care of a mental health professional. Instead, I was subjected to about an hour of the worst care I have ever received. He talked for about 80% of the time. He almost never looked up from his laptop, which I suppose had the list of all the questions he was required to ask me. When he was not looking at the screen his eyes wandered around the room and he barely looked at me at all. He asked the questions in a rapid-fire manner, without stopping to let me tell my story, and didn't seem to really be listening. He interrupted me several times while I was trying to tell a story related to his questions. Because he wasn't listening, he didn't get a good picture of me and my situation, but keyed in on the following; I should not go back to work (I have been looking forward to that for weeks and feel it will be the best thing for me!), I should contact DSS and have them pay my bills, and I should get a dog (although I tried to explain that I live in a 3rd story apartment with no yard, and don't have the extra money to care for an animal). And most importantly, I should NOT stop taking the anti-depressant! I should make another appointment with him in 2 days, start seeing one of their therapists, and basically continue to pour money into their pockets. No thanks. He pressured me into making another appointment, which I canceled the next day. Think twice or more before going to this practice. From all the reviews I have read, it seems like the doctors and other staff are less than great too. Be warned! read more

Every time you call you can't get in touch with anyone whether it be for medications or an appointment. It is now at the point where you call for something, they put you on hold and when you call back phone is busy.
