5/22/23 Sometimes you want to go Where no one knows your name And they're suspicious why you came You wanna be where you can see Our troubles are all the same You wanna be where no one knows your name Stood in line to get me beer alone, took a few pics of the bar, and some dude to my left yells at me, "HEY! What are you doing???" Sitting up stuff, he stares me down. I says back, "Taking pictures?" "Why you taking pictures?" "Cuz I like taking pictures? I'm on vacation man." Then he hunches back over his beer............ This time my eyes turn lion dangerous, and I turn to him and articulate, "Look, I'm just taking pictures man. W T F," grabbed my Guinness, and walked over to an empty table nearby, and sat down. Sipping my black drink, wondering what the f is with these London people, I see dude get up and walk my way, and I'm like fuuuuuuuk, never got in a bar brawl at home, but I've always said I vacation for new experiences, so........... sure bring it on boy ........... .. ...... ... ....to be continued (a la picture, cuz it says more than 1000 words--look at mine attached)... Where nobody knows your name But they're always glad you came Cheers to my new friends, Landlord, Tough Guy, Bartenders, Happy Pretty Girls, Chefs, and everyone else who hugged me like lifelong friends! First pub we hit after getting off the plane and we just wanted to catch some women's World Cup. They had plenty of tv's for viewing but no sound for any of them had music playing instead ? We sat anyway ordered some food and drinks both were great except the pasta was not what we expected and they replaced it free of charge later while finishing up the game they gave us another round of drinks on the House they were very nice to us tourists at least !

Neat little pub by the waterloo station that kinda smells like the bathroom when you walk in. The place is clean though, despite its smell. They have a decent menu here but the ciabatta melts i've tried are definitely not that great. for a bit less than 6 quid, i guess you can't complain. What definitely makes you want to come back are their NACHOS. Get them. The small portion is fairly large, but the large portion is not that much bigger. I have pics, but this giant nacho full of jalapenos, sour cream, avacado, chili beef and salsa is AMAZING. for about 6 quid, it's not bad at all. I have pics. Will post. The interior is pretty fun. Their hotel reception is at the bar, and the entire restaurant is decorated with the battle of waterloo murals of general wellington and napoleon. Lots of TVs showing sports events. It's an alright place.

This place used to have a scary reputation as a doss house and a place to go if you wanted to meet pickpockets or have a bar fight. However, it has at some point in the last decade had a complete refit and is actually quite nice now in that big brewery stand pseudo victorian way. It was filled with a mixed crowd when I went, the service was fine and the prices were very reasonable (unlike the Firestation opposite). If you want a pub to watch the footie, this place is perfect as they have TVs everywhere. It's also a convenient point to meet friends in being immediately outside the station. Additionally, as this is a hotel as well as a pub errr did someone say inn? You can also get rooms here which all seem to be around £89 per night. It isn't a cool place, but if you are there for conversation with your friends, the Wellington is fine.

If you're hungry or looking to grab a drink with a larger group around Waterloo, this pub is a very good option. It is quite big on the inside and the decoration is very nice, with Wellington's battles painted as a huge mural on the ceiling. Since I was looking for food after work I tried the pork schnitzel, one of the specials on the menu which came with a fried egg and cold pasta and I was very happy with my order. The meal was quite filling so I struggled a little bit to finish it while also wishing I could have more, not because I was hungry but because I was really enjoying it. On a Monday night the pub is not too crowded so you'll be able to find a seat easily. They also have screens on the wall so you can watch football if a game is on. I will probably go back to try more of the food and see what the pub is like during the day too.

We had just arrived in London & wanted to go to an authentic English pub. Our preference being, one popular with the locals, not just tourists. The Wellington was recommended by our travel host at our hotel. This pub did not disappoint. It is right across the street from Waterloo Station, and 2 blocks from the "London Eye". It was a little early for dinner for the locals, mostly frequented by the after work happy hour crowd when we were there. This is pub has a fabulous atmosphere, courtesy of wonderful manager, Mark. While the London Pride was just as good as usual, the Gin and Tonic was fabulous and the food we had was fresh and delicious. Kids absolutely loved both children menu as well as their brownies and ice cream deserts.

    The Wellington: Nice decor.

Very nice place. Seems historic! Just had a beer but the service was great and friendly. Next time I'm stopping for much longer!
