Boudin balls and a side of ranch

My first time here and I loved it great little ambiance.a couple if pool tables to pass the time while you wait on your order.cold beer and I highly recommend the Boudain balls.the service is great and even with a room full of people it wasn't but a 9 min wait from when we placed our order in to the time it reached us. Overall a fun experience.go see Mel at the bar!

Nice small dive with just enough room for pool or ping pong. Can easily sit and chat with folks or enjoy a beer in solitude if so desired

Atmosphere is dark and dank, even at lunch. Seems old and run down, just like Catfish Kitchen! Food was just so-so. Would not go back.

As always, the restaurant was packed--which is always a great sign that something good is happening in that kitchen! My waitress, Bailey, was sweet, attentive, and very accommodating, making the experience even more enjoyable. I started with a cup of their famous tomato bisque, and let me just say... I simply cannot come here without ordering it. This heartwarming soup, made with slow-roasted tomatoes, shrimp stock, cream, and Creole seasoning, is rich, comforting, and truly soothing to the soul. It remains my absolute favorite--if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it! For my entrée, I ordered the Avocado Multi-Grain Toast. It's a light and satisfying plate featuring mashed avocado spread over thinly sliced multi-grain bread, served with your choice of sausage or bacon, an egg cooked your way, and a fresh tomato and cucumber salad. Everything on the plate was well-prepared and very tasty. If I could make one small personal tweak, I would love to see this served on a thicker slice of buttery toasted sourdough, maybe with a sprinkle of feta on top. That's just my personal preference and how I enjoy my avocado toast--others may find this version just right as is! The search continues for my perfect avocado toast, but this was a delicious and enjoyable stop along the way. Happy Sunday, and keep sharing those amazing finds on Best Bites!

I make it in…read moreabout every six to eight weeks, and in all that time, I've never had a disappointing meal or experience. On my most recent visit, I sat at the bar and started with a Buffalo Trace bourbon while looking over the menu. The bartenders here are always attentive and welcoming; in fact, the bartender remembered me from previous visits, which speaks volumes about the level of service they provide. Dinner was a ribeye cooked medium-rare with asparagus, and it was exactly what a good steak should be: perfectly cooked, with great flavor, and served hot. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. I followed that with their lemon icebox dessert and a lemon drop, both excellent, and finished the evening with a Four Roses Small Batch Select for a nightcap. What really sets J Wilson's apart is the staff's consistency and professionalism. The bartenders, servers, and kitchen team all seem to work together smoothly and take pride in the experience they deliver. Even on a busy night, with spring break crowds and daylight saving time throwing schedules off, the service remained attentive, and the food came out exactly right. If you're looking for a reliable steakhouse in Beaumont with excellent steaks, a strong bourbon selection, and top-notch service, J Wilson's is hard to beat. Five stars. Always a great experience.

The point is plentiful, delicious, so much to choose from and the customer service is next to none! The restaurant was filled with diverse patrons, the mood was set to great old school music. The only draw back is that they are not closer to my home town. I would be there daily! The price was $25/plate and worth every penny. We had enough to eat a full plate that night at home.

Also, the customer service is phenomenal.! everyone that works here treat you like family and super nice to you. I am so glad I stopped in today. I love how they keep the place super cold in the summer because it gets real hot in Texas. Food: this is some of the best food I've had in a long time. The beef tips remind me of a lot of Burt's , meat bar in Houston, Texas, who shut down right after Covid. The beef tips over white rice is amazing. So tender and so good my God how can you make food this amazing? The macaroni and cheese is phenomenal as well. So were the candy yams. The cornbread is great. The gravy that goes over the beef tips is simply the best. The hamburger steak is full of flavor as well. Once again, this is some of the best soul Food I've had in a long time. Disappointing. Out…read moreof town from Ohio and was looking for a "Texas Steak". Arrived on a Sunday at 5pm to an empty parking lot. We were told it would be a 15 min wait. The restaurant was at 1/4 capacity and should have been a red flag. Ambiance was Texas cliche and forgettable. When the hostess did take us back, the tables had not been bused yet? We ordered the fondeaux appetizer and drinks. I ordered a ginger ale, they gave me ginger beer without telling me. My mother in law ordered a mango margarita that came with no mango. Fondeaux was ok. We received our food at 630pm (1.5hrs after arrival) The porterhouse I got was seasoned and cooked to the correct temp but my Mac and cheese was cold and hard in some spots. It was not good even when it got replaced...school cafeteria quality. My wife's dish was scalding from the heat lamp and was dead. Our friend that ordered her steak med rare couldn't eat it because the toppings and steak itself were cold. Timing was definitely off. Service was not at a standard I would have expected. My "ginger ale" never got refilled and when I asked for it to be filled the waitress put in water? When the bill came we had an extra ribeye added to our bill and was missing a pasta dish for some reason, but they took off $120. Meal was still $111. Not worth it, even with the price drop. One of our party had to go to whataburger afterwards. I was embarrassed for this establishment.
