My husband and I travel for work and try to frequent locally owned places so as to give something back to the community. We found Dylan's and now we hardly go anywhere else. We love to do brunch on Sunday's and John the bartender is one of our favorites. He is very personable, friendly, on top of his game, and takes really great care of us. The food was very good, but unfortunately the service was one of the worst experiences I've had at a restaurant. The server assigned to our table was openly hostile toward me from the start and made comments and gestures that felt mocking and aggressive. She made it clear she did not want to serve me and did not return to our table until another staff member was flagged down. At no point did I feel welcomed or treated professionally. I was there with friends for a birthday celebration, and despite that, I felt uncomfortable enough that I had to leave early for my own peace of mind. No guest should feel singled out or intimidated while dining. I'm sharing this because the food itself was solid, but the service issue was serious enough that I hope management addresses it so no one else has a similar experience. We walked into Dylan's and needed a table for a group of five. There were several tables left with previous customer's dishes and cups. Three employees looked at us as we wandered around wondering where we could sit. Finally, two proceeded to head to a table and clean it off for us. Our appetizers (cheese curds and fried pickles) came out in a timely manner. Both were really tasty! Then my daughter's meal arrived shortly after. The rest of us waited a little bit past 15 minutes for our food. By the time ours came out, she was finished eating. Her food was good as well as two other meals in the group. Our drinks were not refilled either until one of us spoke up. Unfortunately, two of us got stuck with overcooked and very dry meals. Inconsistent Dress Code: We've gone to Dylan's Bar in Port Arthur plenty of times in the past, which is why this experience was so disappointing. We went tonight with a group, but one person in our group was turned away for wearing shorts. What made it even more frustrating was the inconsistency. As we were leaving, we saw someone exiting the bar who was clearly wearing shorts. There are also photos online showing other patrons inside wearing shorts, so the enforcement of the dress code didn't make sense. This is Southeast Texas, and it's already hot this time of year. The bar has an outdoor patio with swings and even a place to play washers, very much a casual, outdoor environment. A strict no-shorts policy just doesn't align with that kind of atmosphere. It was frustrating to have a whole group turned away over something that seemed minor and inconsistently enforced, especially at a place we've supported before. Food was alright. I got the cowboy burger. Menu said it came with spicy mayo. It wasn't on the burger. I asked the bartender and he acknowledged it but stood at the register for a couple of minutes and walked away. When he came back I told him "if you wouldn't mind getting me the spicy mayo before my burger gets cold" oh and my napkin was a cocktail napkin with this burger that had a fried egg. So I had to ask for an actual napkin. It was a mess. I usually eat all my food and have 2 beers. I got the rest to go and only drank one. Bartender sucked. The lady bartender seemed better. I get to this place look over there and see the jukebox. I say let's play some off my phone app and lord and behold after I put about 10 songs on it It didn't work. Well I ask what the deal is and I get told that it don't work till 9 pm. I went here just to have dinner when I was in the area for business. On entry it was a bit more obvious that it was more of a bar with a kitchen. You wouldn't know this from the food itself, as it was restaurant quality and a great value. Just a heads up, smoking is allowed at the bar, but there are a lot of seating areas, so you do have a decent chance of only getting a small amount of the smoke odor. The menu is pretty diverse, I'm excited for blackened tuna, while my husband gets a bacon cheeseburger, with an egg on it. The overhead music is pretty bad, but again, we're not in the main room so we are dealing. Our server , Cade, did not write our order down, and we are not easy, so we will see how that goes. The beer is Cold and the tall was dressed how I like it, so , for now the drinks are good, but the music sucks. BAD. I think it's like ... IDK, grunge? Eck. It looks like they have at least 3 separate bars, so I'm guessing this place gets busy later in the evening. They have a small stage and boast live music. This is a fun spot in the Port Arthur area. They have an indoor and outdoor area and lots of games all around. The food and drinks are good and service was spot on. Will definitely return when I back in the area. read more

How does one climb from a 2 to 4 star rating? You hire people that seem to care, top it off with a little nightly special, surround it in love from the kitchen and add a little "friendly ambience" and you'll get anybody that was not a fan before, crawfish what they put as a bad review before. If you just relocated to the Nederland area because of work you will soon hear of this "Dylans". This is the place, yes, it is a little dark and dainty outside, it looks like something of a neighborhood bar and grill cookie cutter clutter but on the inside is where you are transformed into a semi cheers type setting. May I recommend you make your first visit on a Tuesday (prime rib night) or a Wednesday (ribeye, ribs and boudin). These dishes are the first I have ever seen some dishes come out of a place like this pass up some restaurants that are supposed to be about food. Try them out, you will not be disappointed, be prepared to be surprised and off guard like I was. Parking is tight, it depends on what time you get there but pretty much ample. Service.....great service, a lot of new people it seems and as usual depends on who you get as a server. I've always had decent service whether I visit alone or with a group of my work buddies. The drink especially the specials are really really decent. On Wednesdays there is a special on alcohol. $2 for lone star, bud light, apple crisp and some other that slipped my mine but what got me was whisky and coke is only $2.......not $6 like some other place that went downhill and down rated *cough jungle*. Usually go here for the bar scene at night. After 9pm they charge you to get in, it's $5-10 just to get through the door and they check everybody's ID as they should. I've never ordered their food myself but their beer and mixed drinks they serve are very good. This place has so much potential to be great, however when it comes to customer service, food, and DJ selection to say it's a disappointment is an understatement. If it wasn't for the outside I'd give it one star. 1. DJ: last time I was there all the music they played was way inappropriate! There was no mix or variety. Hearing songs that talk about slapping a woman in the face with a male body part is not my idea of a relaxing and fun night out with friends. 2. Service: overheard waitress tell a customer that she wouldn't be giving him anymore shots (which she was taking with him) if he didn't tip her well. Also, went with a group of friends and sat inside for a while, going back and forth. We had two waitresses both of which hardly ever came to check if we needed drinks and when they did it would take more than 10 minutes to get it. Food: Ordered food from Waitr and took over an hour for them to prepare it. When I called to check the status the girl who answered the phone said the driver was there to get it. When I move, I always find my Cheers bar as soon as I touch down. This. Is. It. I love this place, the staff, and the regulars. Sadly, I moved a little further away now, but I plan to go as often as I can. Food is great. Wednesday evening, not busy, took 30 minutes for our waitress to come around. Table next to our had 4 visits from their waitress in the same amount of time. Food brought out by kitchen staff, told us they couldn't help us with condiments or another drink so I went to the bar and bought a beer, when I returned our waitress acted upset that I couldn't wait another 25 minutes for her to reappear. My steak and a tart taste and I couldn't even finish it, or even wanted to take home the left overs. When the manager came over to our table, we explained the horrible service we were experiencing and he just turned and walked away. This was the first time EVER, that I left $0 tip. I really loved this place! We are talking serious sports bar vibe with all of the tv's around, wood interior, bar front and center and classic dark flooring. Toss in some good service and I was hooked! I actually came here 3 nights in a row while in town because nothing else was worth eating in town. The fried mushrooms and green beans were perfection. Not that soaked greasy crap... the breading here is superb! Street tacos, YES... they are small and perfect portion for an actual street taco (-1 point for no corn tortillas). NOW, let me tell you about Wednesday night! You pull up and there's a smoker outside... BBQ... they work it ALL day and damn it takes amazing. I got the ribs, my co-worker got the ribs and ribeye. Hot damn... all you could hear at the table was mmm, ohhh, damn... lips smackin... we live in Texas... the land of BBQ and we both thought this was amazing. They do this every Wednesday! So, cool place, food pretty good. The service is by far the worst in Port Arthur. You will wait at least 30 minutes for a drink. We were never asked if we wanted a menu. Flagged someone down for that after 2 hours and we sat at the bar. Waited 45 minutes to pay our bill. We were passed by at least 50 times and never asked if we needed anything. This place was fine....just fine. I went to watch the Saints game and even though the main screens were obviously showing the Texan's game they did have the Saints on one small TV which was cool. I was excited about this place and talked it up to my family. Poor service. Our waitress never brought plates for appetizers or napkins. We asked if they had the Stanley cup playoff hockey game on the TV and never got a response from her. Later, we asked again and then she said "they couldn't find it", even though we were right next to the bar so we could see the TVs remain on the same channels the whole time. The food was very average. The breaded items like onion rings were so breaded that the breading was undercooked and still gooey under the surface. A group of 6 girls and myself arrived on a Saturday afternoon. There was only one server working and two cooks behind the counter, which I thought was very peculiar for a Saturday. We ordered burgers and catfish and waited 50 MINUTES for our food. I asked several times during our wait when our food would be coming out and every time our waitress didn't give us a clear answer. Once we finally got our food, we asked for the manager and she gave a half-hearted apology and gave us excuses after excuses for why our food took so long. She didn't give us any reimbursement or even try to make it better. She made it seem as if it was our fault for being a larger than normal party on a Saturday. I wouldn't come back to this sorry excuse for a restaurant and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, especially not on a Saturday. read more

I have never been this disrespected before in my life. My friends and I wanted to go out and enjoy ourselves, until the "bouncer" felt the need to kick us out because I wanted to complain about the idiotic "dress code" after 10:00. Thus ridiculous "dress code" says that men cannot have a small bag with them, while the exact same bag is permissible for a women to have. After I voiced my complaint/opinion to the manager and front door host, this obnoxious "bouncer" felt entitled enough to chase my friends and I down through the bar and scream at us that "if I want to 'talk-shit' about him then we need to leave". I clarified to him that I was only complaining about the stupid policy and not him directly. However, this man continue to berate my friends and me until we left the premises. I would recommend Dylan's (as an establishment) be more selective with who that place in charge of the entrance, as this goes towards a reflection of themselves and upper management. Apparently this is THE or one of the only places to get a drink around these parts. I had to swerve the roaches in the parking lot. F.M.L. I've been here before and never had an issue. However, we went there for St. Patrick's Day on Wednesday, and our original server left, so she transferred our tab to another server. We were having fun and doing shots of Jamison when our server said, "I'll do one with you." He did that twice. We didn't think anything of it since this has never happened before, but the next day we looked at our receipt and that server charged US for the two shots HE took. We didn't offer to pay for his drinks, and he didn't say he was charging our tab for HIS drinks.
