The Westin Arlington has seen better days, as the patchy, stained hallway carpeting and giant elevator door ads attest. On the up side, the room was clean and well-appointed, with actual glassware in addition to everything else you'd expect from an upscale hotel room -- although we found the bed too soft. The gym was fine, as was the breakfast buffet. The downside: The WiFi was terrible -- difficult to connect to, and when it didn't work and we turned off our iPhone WiFi, cellular data didn't work properly, despite having three or four bars, as if something was blocking it. Outside the hotel? Cellular worked Just fine. Parking was a ridiculous $40 a night, and they tacked on a $25 "destination fee," whatever that is. So a $135 online deal ballooned to $200. What a ripoff. Would not return. read more

Great common areas, overall great comfortable rooms excellent restaurant and staff. There are few hints here and there of older days (hallways and bathroom tubs, etc). I have stayed at this hotel about 10 times now. Clean, friendly staff. I don't like that there aren't microwaves in the rooms. There is a mini fridge though. The toiletries and other items in the room are hit or miss. I wish it was more consistent. If something is missing you can always ask for it on the app. This last time was a bit of a disappointment. The air in my room never got below 70. On the second day I asked to have it fixed and it lowered to 68, which clearly was an improvement but still not fixed. Nice hotel location in Arlington Virginia. The hotel is clean and spacious. We are here for a conference that has plenty of room for the hundred guest. The food service is amazing pasta buffet, salad bar, mini desserts and bar stations are available. There are nearby bars, restaurants, and shopping. Walking distance to the subway that'll get you to DC cheaper than an Uber in about the same time! I haven't made it to the indoor pool yet, but I hear it is nice. Also, the hotel restaurant/bar menu looks good along with their room service options!! Another thing I find important is the showers! Here they get a 10!! They have a large showerhead that rains over the top of your head or option of a hand wand both have powerful water flow, and most importantly, hot water at all times! Another wonderful feature is the shampoo, conditioner, & body wash with white tea extract to add a little something more to your experience-that is hanging inside the shower, easy accessible!! The room was nice, but they added a $25/day "destination fee" that was not on the booking confirmation. It is about 6 blocks from the train to DC which is convenient and there is a good diner right across the street. Not much else good to eat in the immediate area. The "city view" looked out on an alley and the blinds wouldn't open anyway. Next time we will pick something other than this hotel either more reasonably priced or closer to the center of DC. read more

I'm writing this review after receiving no meaningful response from The Westin Arlington following my direct complaint to both the hotel and Marriott corporate. What should have been a joyful wedding weekend turned into a stressful and upsetting experience due to repeated service failures and serious safety issues. We had a wedding room block at this hotel, and both myself and my guests encountered rude and dismissive behavior from the front desk staff throughout the weekend. They failed to distribute the welcome gift bags we had prepared, despite clear instructions. When we asked about them, we were met with confusion or indifference. We also received noise complaints on two separate nights -- even though we were not throwing parties or playing loud music. We had small groups of people in our suite simply talking. The staff gave us no alternatives for gathering and treated us with an unnecessarily harsh and aggressive tone. They would give us just two minutes between warnings, almost as if they were waiting outside the door to escalate the situation. But what's far worse than the poor customer service was the disturbing lack of safety and security protocols: * Room keys were being handed out without checking ID. My mother received keys to both her room and mine without showing any identification. We now also know that one of our guests was accidentally given the groom's grandmother's room key, and they unknowingly walked in on her. This is a serious breach of guest privacy and safety. * A concerning individual was hanging around the property, creeping on minors who were there for prom. Multiple guests of ours expressed concern to hotel staff after witnessing this man loitering, harassing teens, and later making disturbing comments about suicide to other guests. The hotel's only response was to ask him to leave -- which he did not do. No further action or follow-up occurred. These are not small issues. They reflect a complete failure of basic safety standards, guest protection, and professional hospitality. Ironically, the hotel seemed stricter about distributing gift bags than they were about managing room access or guest safety. I brought all of these concerns directly to Marriott and received only a generic apology and 3,000 Bonvoy points. That token gesture doesn't begin to address the serious lapses in service and security that occurred. I strongly recommend against booking a room block or group event at The Westin Arlington. The poor treatment of guests, lack of professionalism, and disregard for safety made our wedding weekend far more stressful than it should have ever been. read more

Rooms were not cleaned well, and an emergency (shooting) happened and our vehicle was roped off ...staff did not valet the vehicle which lead up to it being in a compromising position. read more

I just attended a 2-day conference there! I have to admit my favorite part was the chocolate chip cookies they served at break. They were amazing! :) All the staff that work there are incredibly nice. I was really impressed. I did get a little lost finding it from the Ballston metro. Once you know where to go, it's a short walk. Probably about five minutes. I definitely look forward to going there again. read more

We had a 4 night stay at The Westin Arlington and really enjoyed it. Check in was a breeze; we felt very welcomed. Our room was spacious and everything was in nice working order. Same with the bathroom. Housekeeping did a great job everyday, cleaning, etc. Of course the king size Marriott bed is perfect for sleeping. As a Titanium Elite, we were given breakfast buffet coupons for each AM (although charged $20 one day ??). The buffet had everything you could want for breakfast and it was delicious. Service was excellent as well in the restaurant. We were also given 2 drink coupons for the bar which was a nice touch. The location was great as well - some shopping and dining options nearby. Our stay at the Westin Arlington was pretty easy breezy. The hotel is in a decent area with access to quite a few restaurants, bars, a large shopping center, and public transportation. We stayed at this location for two nights, and we really did not have too many complaints. Check-in was very simple, the rates were pretty reasonable, our room and the facilities were clean. I will admit that I was a bit surprised that hotel parking was $40 per night, but I guess that is the going rate for these sorts of things nowadays. Speaking of parking, I have to say that I parking garage was a bit tight. For instance, there's one section in the parking garage where incoming and outgoing traffic uses the same path. The only (very small) complaint out our room: the pillows were way too soft. I definitely would stay at the Westin Arlington during our next trip to Arlington. read more

I left a pair of sunglasses in the bar - yes, my fault. When I called the hotel the next day (five times), I got no answer any time after waiting for 3-4 minutes each call. When I call two days after, I finally get a person but am put on hold for 30 minutes. I hang up, call back and get someone who says they will look. 25 minutes on hold with no answer. I hang up again, and get someone who FINALLY tells me that I have to go online to file a report through the entire Westin system, and I'm not allowed to come to the hotel and look at the lost and found items in person. This is less than what I expect from a 4 star hotel (and the price). The best thing was the apple cinnamon elixir at the check in. It's available as welcome drink at the lobby for free. House keeper comes everyday and threw away too many things. Towels were added everyday and never taken back (5 days so it's quite a lot piled up in the room). Also they came in anyway to do the restroom despite saying "do not disturb". As a Marriott member you get a free bottle of water in the room. My room doesn't have breakfast included but there was a room service card you can fill in for a room service breakfast. Great area for restaurants and shopping centers nearby. read more

My husband and I stayed at the Westin for 3 nights during a business trip. Absolutely no complaints from check in to check out. Heater was not working and maintenance promptly took care of it. Hotel is beautiful but showing some wear and tear. The bottom of the bathroom door looked like it had water damage. The parking garage was a little confusing to get to the hotel after parking. We ended up in an office building across the street. The room itself is clean and had a scent of lavender lemon and eucalyptus every time we walked in. They had a relaxing balm next to the bed, that I want more of. A few things I did not like was that you need to exit the elevator for rooms and hop on a completely different elevator to get to the garage. I also saw the same room service tray in the hall way the entire stay. I was celebrating my birthday and went to the bar that was attached to the hotel. We felt like the bartender rushing us out before 11.... But I saw the bartender pouring drinks and bringing out bottles to another group of people. Leaving this review to share my experience at the Westin Gateway Arlington. My wedding reception accrued on Oct 08, 22. We booked the venue around Feb 22. Since the beginning, the process was hard for even Ekaterina the events Manager who tried to help but there is so much " hotel Policy" and we can not do that! Talking about parking, guest staying in the hotel discount, getting suite early to get ready Etc. the main problem happened on the wedding day, ( the room was bright as daylight) as I booked the ballroom for a conference, not a "wedding party" So I reached out to the DJ to dim the light which I thought they can control, they did reach out to the hotel to dim the light but the hotel did not dim the light. We tried multiple times during the night to fix this but didn't happen. The answer always was " yes we will fix it " but nothing happen until the end of the event. A few days later I contacted the hotel about the unconsumed alcohol, the hotel agreed to refund that part. I also asked about the lighting, the hotel was represented by Raza, the manager that night and Ekaterina refused to take any responsibilities and referred me to the Area Manager, Jim Perrin, I sent him an email to explain everything in detail about that night. I called him twice trying to talk to him in person, he responded to the email a few days later saying that the refund from the unconsumed alcohol would " resolves any issues" which is absurd. I gave up and called Marriott customer service to submit a complaint, they inform me that I will hear back from them within a week. A week pass by, and I called again, and they told me that the hotel solved the problem by refunding me! They meant that they refund me the unconsumed alcohol money ... Big WOW. I asked the gentleman from customer service to call the hotel to hear that from them. the guy in the customer service did his best but had no luck solving the problem. The hotel did not want to take any responsibility or compromise I encourage anyone reading this review to go somewhere else read more

I stayed at The Westin Arlington from January 18-20, 2025, under a reservation booked with Marriott points by a friend. At check-in, I was told my credit card would only be held on file for incidentals because the room itself was covered by those points. At the front desk, I made sure to confirm this with the staff member on duty. She reiterated there would be no charge to my card beyond incidentals, and that the room's cost was fully prepaid. Fast forward to checkout: I spoke with a different representative named Mega. Once again, I was assured that my card wouldn't be charged and received a summary of charges reflecting a zero-dollar balance. Mega even said, "I see it's already prepaid" and "I will fix it." Everything seemed fine--until I got home and saw a $1,192.78 charge on my credit card statement! I'm beyond disappointed. Not only did the hotel contradict its own records (which showed a $0 balance), but now I'm having to dispute this unauthorized charge with my credit card company. This entire experience was stressful and time-consuming, and it felt downright deceptive. In my view, it's unacceptable for a hotel to give clear assurances in person, provide documentation stating a zero balance, and then turn around and bill a guest anyway. I've never encountered anything like this at other Marriott properties, and it's a shame The Westin Arlington didn't uphold those high brand standards. If you're planning to stay here, please double-check your bill carefully--better yet, get written confirmations--and be prepared to fight unexpected charges. We did a wedding hotel group block with the Westin Arlington. It was the best decision we made! The team at the Westin was super responsive and helped us modify each reservation. The group rate was really great. It was so easy to gather with our friends and family in the hotel bar and lobby in our down time. This let us really connect with family and catch up with everyone. Planning a wedding is stressful but this was a huge win and a super easy part of the process thanks to the Westin's help. Our guests also easily went downtown to sightsee. Guests all said they loved the rooms. Knowing it was our wedding, the team even left a sweet note and champagne in our room. Great job! We highly recommend! read more

Permanently lost a customer because they do not answer the phone. My company is based in the bldg next door so staying at the Westin would be convenient, but I need to book my reservation over the phone and cannot get through. It either rings endlessly or rings twice and hangs up. I had the same issue back in September 2022 when I stayed there. Just an overall great stay. Nice rooms, friendly staff, and a restaurant with good food & adult beverages.

I think this hotel probably does have some customer service issues. I'm not sure what's going on there and I try to be mindful of the lack of workers/stress/etc going on because of the pandemic. But our stay began waiting half an hour for our room to be cleaned. I was supposed to meet clients in our room, so this was actually a major inconvenience. But I mean, I guess the room was cleaned so...it could be worse? I'm an rabid optimist. There's a garage with a fee for parking. I have parking anxiety and I panic any time there's not just a huge, open parking lot with no cars in it. If this is also you, have someone else drive. We booked a suite. It's not a huge suite, but enough for just a weekend. I chuckled when I saw the little sanitary remote sleeve because before I left, one of my clients mentioned the filthiest thing in a hotel room is the remote. I thought the bathroom was a little lacking, with a closet-like bathroom, but I don't like showering anyway and avoid it at all costs, so not a huge deal to me. I prefer tubs on vacation, which a friend of mine advised me "is so gross." I advised her I'm a rebel. We checked out the gym area and my 61-year-old husband knocked on the glass to show the young guys lifting weights his muscles, then went in to show them how "it's really done." Things like this don't embarrass me any longer and I just made eye contact with one of them and shook my head. It appeared to be a nice facility. The pool area is hot, but our son loved spending time in the pool and that's all that matters. I sent my husband down to get me dessert from the restaurant because they all sounded so fabulous, but they didn't have any of them, apparently because of the pandemic. I was disappointed, but it's not a huge surprise or big problem when there's so many nice restaurants in the area. The best part about this suite was that it had a doorbell. I've never seen a room with a doorbell. I asked the front desk guy downstairs about it and inquired if perhaps there were friends we could rent to come ring the doorbell so I could feel important or maybe he could just send up housekeeping to ring it just to get the full experience of a hotel doorbell. He didn't think I was cute. There are vouchers for a Starbucks breakfast in the morning, I think around $20. It's connected to the hotel. The staff there is great and I eat an apple for breakfast every morning, so $20 was more than sufficient, even though their coffee is what--$6 a cup? Good dietary options. I got the little egg cups. I wouldn't refuse to stay again, but would probably look for another hotel in the same area first. It's lovely area--laid back, the people are fabulous, there's a variety of places to walk to--anywhere from a church to a Target to restaurants. Arlington is a super place to be! read more

This hotel definitely tanks up there as one of the best in the North Arlington area. I have stayed here on two different occasions with the most recent being this week. I actually checked-in on Sunday and I will be heading out tomorrow. The rooms and overall services are exceptional and there is more than enough space in the lobby to sit, relax, meetup and do whatever. The main reason why I really like this hotel is the location. It is literally blocks away from the office where I am currently consulting. Even better is the proximity to the Balston Metro station, which is also about 2 blocks away, and the metro will get you anywhere in the city. The Staff and Front Desk people are equally awesome, and I have had no issues whatsoever with anything. This hotel works for me and I hope to return again in the near future! read more

Housekeeping left my room at 89 degrees in the middle of winter for no reason. I couldn't sleep.

My parents stayed at this hotel while in town and woke up covered in bedbug bites. It ruined our Thanksgiving. Instead of enjoying a relaxing time together with family we spent the weekend trying to figure out how not to expose our home and theirs to the hotel's infestation. If you look this property up in the various bedbug registries you'll notice that it has a history of bedbugs in multiple rooms. When we learned what the hotel's response protocols to bedbugs were, it became evident why. When we confronted the front desk staff about the problem, all they offered to do was relocate them to another room and launder their clothing, a process they advised could take more than 24 hours. Those educated on the risks and mitigation techniques of bedbugs know that bedbugs are incredibly resilient, evasive, and can lay dozens of submacroscopic eggs per day. Best practices require subjecting anything left in an infested room/home with high temperatures for several hours in order to prevent them from continuing to spawn and spread in not only the original location of the infestation but also anywhere the luggage and clothes of its occupants go next. There are many products and services that can accomplish this, but the hotel did not have access to any of them. So now not only does their original room (834) have a confirmed infestation, but their subsequent one (1018) likely does as well. I hope Marriott corporate takes note and reevaluates this property's response protocol. It's a great looking hotel and conveniently located, but none of that matters if you're doomed to bring bedbugs home when you return. read more

We recently stayed at the Westin Arlington for 3 nights. We were charged a $500 smoking fee after checkout. We ARE NOT SMOKERS, nor did anyone smoke in our room. We are long time Marriott customers and originally figured it was just a mistake and they would correct it. NOT, we have contacted Westin Arlington multiple times and they will not reverse the charge. Upon further research I have found that this is a common occurrence with this location. I have filed a BBB complaint and a dispute with my CC company. Apparently Westin Marriott Arlington has some sort of "device " that indicates we were smoking in our room and now the charge has been reinstated on our credit card. We have appealed to them to no avail. No one will return our calls. We contacted corporate and they bounced us back to the site. I thought Marriott was a reputable establishment, but apparently they are not. I would not recommend staying here because this could happen to you and there doesn't seem to be any recourse. After this experience, I just don't trust Marriott. We will never stay at a Marriott again. So much for customer loyalty. read more

This place looks impressive from the lobby, and the front desk staff was very nice. However when we got to the room, here is what we noticed: 1) lamp by the bed was broken so the shade was very crooked. 2) The closet door was stuck so it was VERY hard to slide (we just left it open the whole stay). 3)There were two phones and only one worked. 4) The magnifying mirror in the bathroom was broken at the neck. 5) The shower water pressure and temperature fluctuated greatly during our showers. The pillows are very squishy so we ordered more delivered to our room. They said 20 minutes, but after 3 hours we went to the front desk to ask again. Let me start this off by saying not all Marriotts are the same. We recently stayed in the Richmond Marriott and had a wonderful experience, so when traveling to Arlington for the long weekend, we were thrilled to see a Westin by Marriott! We booked our room a few weeks out, and purchased a "Traditional King Corner" room. To our dismay, we in fact did not get a corner room. My husband went downstairs to the front desk to let them know there was a mistake, and at first they said there were a lot of parties and there were no corner rooms available... even though we specifically reserved that room. A little confused as to why they gave the room away, they told him that booking a corner room doesn't mean you'll get it, you'll just be CLOSE to the corner. Meanwhile our room was smack dab in the middle, and couldn't be FURTHER from the corner. For our trouble, they gave us 2 vouchers for breakfast at the Commentary (hotel restaurant), and free parking for the weekend. The room itself was a little drab-- there were marks all over the window, sheets were piling and felt a little worn, but overall fine for what we paid. Definitely could have used some extra towels, and we had to call down to the desk multiple times to get a bedding change. Also, you can imagine my surprise when I went to use the shampoo and conditioner and we received 2 shampoos and no conditioner. Whoops! At this hotel there's an option to use your phone as your keycard, but I would highly recommend using a normal keycard you get from the front desk, because the phone took forever to scan into the elevator and room. We used our free breakfast vouchers on Saturday and it was delicious! Buffet style, they had french toast, pancakes, bacon, sausage, home fries, fresh fruit and a toast station. Definitely your standard continental breakfast at other hotels. As we were traveling in and out of the hotel over the weekend, the gate to leave the parking garage was always up, so turns out parking was free anyways, at least while we were staying there. When checking out, my husband voiced how our overall stay was, and how we were given "free" parking since our room was given away, but turns out it was free anyways. The man at the front desk, apparently a manager, was a total jerk. He just kept saying "parking isn't free", and that there's an attendant who checks license plate numbers and charges parking to your room. We never saw an attendant, and they didn't have our license plate on file, but my husband let it go. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. I think the main issue was the customer service we received. The only real perk was that it was a great location-- a 5 minute walk to a metro stop, and 15 minute drive to the heart of DC. Lots of restaurants and things to do within walking distance which was great! read more

I have been a travel nurse with VHC for over a year now, and have stayed at many facilities in Ballston area. I booked my reservation with the Westin, bc I was going to be solo for the weekend and wanted the extra security. Well, turns out I ended up coming down with a cold and was subjected to my room for two days resulting in missed work. I CANNOT even begin to explain the customer service that came from this facility. I wore a mask, and sounded horrible from the time I checked in until check out. The front desk agent, Kyrie went ABOVE and beyond to making sure I was ok my entire stay. I had in room dining (thank god, so good) and upon delivery the staff all showed their concerns for my well being. As a nurse, you really don't find this kind of customer service just anywhere. It meant so much, and I am so grateful for the kindred spirits that work in this facility. It completely made the experience, in addition to all the amenities that are available. Visiting the Capitol? I highly recommend staying here. As of this post all museums are still closed and the Capitol is highly guarded. However, there's so much to still see and do! And spring is the best time to go in my opinion. Less crowds, more flowers (cherry blossoms!) and cooler weather. Take the metro into DC and forget about driving. Pack a backpack with goodies, and your good to go! The Metro is only a block and half from here. Clean, safe and really fast! I love staying here. The staff is super kind, friendly, professional and it's a nice place to stay. read more

Stayed here for one night. I will never stay here again and I advise you to rethink staying here if you care about the hotel putting unauthorized charges on your credit card. My stay was booked using points. The only fee I should have been charged for was $40 for parking. when I returned home I checked my credit card statement and realized I had the $40 charge and another charge for $57.13. We did not spend any money at the hotel and were only in the room at night to sleep. I contacted the hotel and was transferred to the accounting dept. No one answered so I left a detailed message. I never received a call back. The next day I contacted the front desk and spoke to Maria. At first she was insisting that we must have used a credit card in the restaurant. I tried to explain that this was not the case. Despite explaining this to her she transferred me to the restaurant to speak to someone there. Of course no one answered. Yes it shows it was a points stay and you shouldn't have been charged the $57.13. It appears after you checked out the stay was rerouted and you were charged". I'm not sure what getting rerouted exactly means but I do know it involved charging my credit card. She then said she was putting in a request for a refund and should see a credit in a couple of days. Now its a week later. I have not received a credit and I don't show a credit pending. I called the front desk again and spoke with Unnati. I explained the situation and the details of my first call with Maria. She said she sees a credit on her end. I told her I was looking at my acct as we spoke and there was not a credit or anything pending. Her answer was "hmmm that's odd, are you sure?" She then said well give it some time it should appear. To date I have no idea why I was charged or what exactly the charge was for. I will post again if there are any changes. Moving forward I will stay at the Residence Inn a few blocks up. I've stayed there in the past and it is a nicer hotel, there is a complimentary breakfast, parking is cheaper and the staff is much more helpful. Westin doesn't doesn't have anything. Not even complimentary coffee in the lobby. You make your own choice where to stay but be sure to check your credit card after your stay. read more

An otherwise good experience is now seriously called into question as repeated attempts to have my pre-authorization amenity charge refunded have been ignored. A recent two day stay with a pre-authorization charge of $75 less my valet parking of $68, I should have been refunded $7. I Contacted Alisher Zuparkhodjae in accounts payable and he assured me a credit was in the works and confirmed it by email. Several weeks later I followed up by email as I had not received the credit it has been more than a month without a response. If serious inguiries regarding charges are made no matter how small and ignored the hotel's business ethics is called into question. Being an SPG member does't seem to matter therefore future stays in that area will exclude that particular Westin Hotel. read more

Clean, efficient and very normal hotel that met my expectations for a stay at a Westin branded property. Lobby has the spartan efficiency of a college housing. No grand foyer welcomed us, just a few seats in a waiting area, and the reception desk. This is clearly a property that is focused on business travelers going to sleep, not as a good meeting point. I think its two strengths are location and focus as a nice spot to sleep. Located a couple of blocks from the Ballston Metro and mall, it provides a nice neighborhood for someone staying, and access to Washington. I actually like that they have focused on making this property a place to sleep rather than a place to stay. They've simplified everything here and if you want to do anything, you can just go outside where lots of restaurants, coffee shops, and bars await you. Of note, I mentioned in the notes of my online reservation that this stay was a special occasion for us. When we arrived at our room, there were flowers, chocolate, and champagne awaiting. Normal for this level hotel, but nice to see they aren't slipping. read more
