Friendly staff who speak English well and are very accommodating and willing to help. 24/7 fitness center with a business center and Conference rooms. The king size bed was so comfortable and the pillows were perfect. Bathroom was a decent size with good lighting and we had a view facing the front of the hotel with the city in the back. We had a lovely room here at the Westin. It was super spacious, comfortable and clean. Everyone here was kind and helpful even with the added stress of the New Year's Eve holiday. The location is close to the train station, several good restaurants and shopping areas, and the doormen were very helpful in calling a cab if you wanted to go further away. They offered a buffet breakfast dining area and had a nice bar with comfortable seating offering lunch and dinner items. They have a workout room and spa area with comfortable shower and changing rooms. I really enjoyed this property quite a bit, but I had to take off a star as they made a large mistake. Our last night there, a new customer was given a key to our room and was entering with his luggage! I know that was a simple mistake but the impact was large and embarrassing for everyone involved. This is a beautiful grand old hotel. I've stayed here a long time ago and was excited to stay there again. It's in a great location by the central train station (take a taxi it's only 10e) and the subway is right down the drive way, also there are always taxis outside. It's central located with lots of fun bars and restaurants near and a supermarket and pharmacy. I had a lovely luxurious room with a view on an upper floor. The room was gorgeous and the bed comfortable and the whole room equipped. A lovely foyer with tons of closet space. Also the bathroom is gorgeous with great amenities and towels. The shower handle did break off though and I almost had a flood but they fixed it fast. The water pressure and temperature was good and I had a normal European shower with tub. The rooms maybe sound proofed from outside but are not from the hallway, I was awoke 3-4 times every night from door slamming. It was very annoying. I was tired my whole time staying there. Room service is fast and efficient but the food was not great and very expensive. I tried breakfast, lunch and dinner and each time I was disappointed by the food quality. They do give you 2 free bottles of water and there is a stocked for charge mini bar. I really liked the gym, spa and roof top areas. The entrance, sitting area and bars are great. The service was fine and fast. Oh ya and the internet is really really slow. Check in was easy and I checked out the night before to avoid lines, the city tax is normal for Italy. My main complaint is they have central air with a fan you can't turn off. My room was ice cold even with the air turned off and the vent closed. Also the air blew on my face when I slept. I stayed here to rest after my vacation so I wouldn't be tired after my flight home to NYC but ended up catching a cold instead. They offered to move me to a new room but showed me a damp room on the ground floor with no light that looked into a wall. I stayed in my room with the view and they gave me a space heater but that didn't stop the fan from blowing on me. Was it hot and humid outside yes, did I want to catch a cold inside no. Would I stay here again, not sure. I've stayed at 4 star hotels in the area for half the price and been more comfortable but such is life. read more

The Westin is a true jewel and the Staff was amazing. Very welcoming staff, Johan was so helpful, the beautiful red haired lady was very kind when I didnt know how to work the Cupaccino machine. My room was spacious with a stand up shower and bathtub the King size bed was amazingly comfortable. My favorite part of the Westin was the restaurant where Francesco, Daniele, and Ilaria made the best food and fixed things exquisitely, they were so much fun and made everything I ordered simply delicious with special touches and preparation. The Westin Palace Milan is well located at Plaza Della Repubblica which is central to the key locations in Milan proper. I've stayed at the hotel before for a few nights, but this was the first time I had the chance to enjoy a slightly extended stay. My room was a nice, spacious corner room and it came with a separate tub and shower with room for 2 (or 3). Unfortunately the hotel does not have an executive lounge, so breakfast is served in the main restaurant which can get quite crowded during peak breakfast hours which I only had to endure on Sunday. When it's that crowded you can go to the bar which is set up as a back-up breakfast area or take one of he high top communal tables, which is ok, except the wait staff doesn't pay much attention, so you will have to flag them down. The other thing about the restaurant is that for dinner you will get a strange look if you dont make advances reservations. The first time I went I had to wait 10 minutes for a table to be set. The second time I was told it would be a 30 minute wait or to go to the bar where they had the same menu...which they don't. The only other negative to the Westin is its internet provider...Quadrigo which is simply the worst on the face of the earth if you are trying to connect via Corporate VPN. Overall a good stay, but the hotel could focus a bit more on the service delivered at its restaurant. And they should also change their internet service provider read more

Milan was like the New York City of Italy. So when I stepped into the Westin, I was surprised by the classic nature of the rooms. The service was excellent as expected, but the real shocker/enjoyment came from the room decor. All wooden furniture, mid century style chairs and classic dressed bell hops was the recurring theme. The room itself was huge and came with a separate seating area. The view was also perfect of the surrounding town. It was one of those rooms that in itself is a destination. Leaving the room was tough... The location of the hotel is walking distance to everything, yet the hotel is perched on a small hill by itself. There are plenty of taxis roaming nearby and the staff are more than happy to assist with getting one. A true Westin experience in this regard. I am blown away that after being an SPG member for so many years and staying at Westins all over the world, this particular hotel and Donatella Caprara did not know how to understand a customers situation and had Zero empathy for the circumstances. My girlfriend and I arrived at LAX to take a flight to Milan. Norwegian Airlines cancelled the flight and did not notify us. We were stranded. It was an 11:10pm flight. What was the first thing we did after realizing we couldn't get another flight out til the next day? We called SPG. They were incredible and the comment was "we are all human and totally understand" he refunded our points and cancelled the reservation for us. He even wrote an email to the hotel directly and asked them to understand so as to not charge us. He said to call the manager at the hotel and explain the situation so they don't charge us. But of course, with all the bad luck we were experiencing, we come to that manager Donatella Caprara. She was cold, stoic and completely rude. She didn't care at all. Why on earth does that make sense in the hotel hospitality business? She told us it's not her problem. So my suggestion when choosing a hotel in Milan. Do not go to this one. Because if anything goes wrong in the slightest, they will absolutely not accommodate. I can't imagine what would happen if you ask for extra towels. What a disgrace. We will be contesting the charge. Update: Ivan came to the rescue and made sure I wasn't charged. I've adjusted the stars and am very appreciative of their understanding. read more

This has been one of the most disappointing experiences of my life. I travel extensively all over the world and 15 years ago we stayed at the Westin Palace in Milan. They were renovating at the time yet it was still fantastic. Since then any time anyone has asked me which is the best hotel I have ever stayed at the answer was always The Westin Palace in Milan. Sadly, I can no longer say that. Check In and the Concierge were fine. When we got to the room at first glance it looked good. Still beautifully decorated. My daughter sat on the couch and after a minute had to get up. It was so dusty it actually smelt dusty and made he sneeze. I looked out the window. There were smeer marks from someone's face who had put their face right up against the window. The room was tidy, but it was not clean. We stayed 2 nights. When we came back to the room after the first night, the bed was made. The end. The bathroom had not been touched. No replenishment of shampoo, towels, etc. A very poor show, especially for a 5 Star Hotel. And now the restaurant. I remember breakfast being fantastic when I was there 15 years ago. We were seated outside for breakfast and with all the insects flying around we decided to go indoors when a bee flew into my coffee. The "clean" glasses had lipstick stains. The "clean" spoons had food remnants. But my favorite was when one of the people who were putting out the food took some of the cereal that had fallen out of the bowl with her bare hands. I assumed she was going to throw those few pieces away. But no, she threw the pieces of cereal she had just picked up back into the main bowl where people served themselves from. This hotel used to have a dynamic feeling when you walked in. It is now just old and dusty and although the decor is still ok, it needs to be cleaned and dusted and maintained. It's so dirty and hygiene is obviously not a priority. read more

So we were going to be in Milan for the night And We usually stay at Hilton properties, But we wanted to be closer to the city center so we decided on the Westin I am an SPG member and I booked from my app I chose a king room for $225 a night A little higher than what we like to pay but for the area we decided to go with it .. We checked in around 4 pm. The valet greeted us and I said that I would like to pay to self park . He said we don't offer that service I will park the car and it will be $45 Euro a night. I told him that your website says it's $26 to self park he's said no we don't offer that . He said that our Fiat 500 was too big that's why it's $46? I said that unacceptable and he said well I can go $36 Euro? I've never had to haggle so a Westin property before I felt like I was being taken advantage of! Meanwhile Jim was trying check in there were no customers ahead of him and the man behind the counter wouldn't wait on him? I walked up and said excuse me I'd like to check in . I gave him our info and asked him about the parking He said it's whatever the man outside said it would be ? I said your website said it would be $26 to self park and I showed him the Westin website .He said that's wrong? Really? So he gives us the card keys and says go through those doors and look for 165. We follow his instructions and walk through 3 sets of doors and there was no room 165, it only went to 145? So I walk back to the front desk and ask another person at the front and she says that you need to take the elevator to the 3rd floor? That makes no sense and why wouldn't of the first guy told me that? I really felt uncomfortable and felt like because we were a gay couple we were getting an attitude. Which is Sad because we both witnessed a hooker walking around the hotel waiting for a guest to meet her in the bar. So the room was nice, great bed and the bathroom looked ok. But much to our dismay the shower was ridiculous. No curtain or door so when you turned it on water was splashed everywhere on the floor. Also the controls to the shower didn't work There was no way to turn off the wand so water was everywhere. So we only stayed one night . We checked out in the morning and once again Rude front desk man wouldn't wait on us and we were the only ones checking out? So or $245 Euro room ends up being $449 with parking and taxes? Really overpriced and I'm very sorry I chose Westin. And will probably never use Westin again!! read more

We planned a last minute getaway to Italy and we arrived in Milan just in time for Christmas. They gave us an upgrade all on their own and we were in one of the deluxe SPG rooms, which I can best describe as grand and regal. The rooms are comfortable, especially the heavenly beds. There is a nespresso machine in each. The hotel has a breakfast buffet until 10:30 am, and they offer a variety of breakfast items. Everyone at the front desk/concierge was helpful when we needed advice or had questions. The location of this Westin is a good one. We took the Trenord Train from Malpensa Airport directly to the train station near the Westin, and it was a 45 minute ride. It was cheaper than taking a taxi from the airport to the Westin in Milan, which costs about 80 euros one way. The Westin is close to the Stazzione Milano Centrale, we ended up taking a taxi to the station, and it was a ten minute drive to Duomo di Milano, which is one of the main sites to see in Milan. It is also walking distance from the shops on Corso Buenos Aires. There is a lot to do in the area. Be sure to make reservations at Da Oscar for an authentic family style Italian dining experience, it is a ten minute walk from the hotel. read more

Terrible hotel and this is the second time we've stayed here, lots of rooms don't have working heat or hot water as we found out last night and they wouldn't even let me keep a key to shower in another room (needed to get stuff from the other room needed a key). Front desk was not helpful (again second time staying here very similar circumstances). They still haven't fixed the hot water but I guess they threw in an electric heater so there's that. To top it all off they charged $2000 to my personal card instead of the company card that was put down. Production companies beware read more

This hotel is truly a beauty. Located across the street from the better known Hotel Principe di Savoia (but not playing second fiddle to it), and conveniently within walking distance of the Main Train Station (Milano Centrale) this hotel offers top level accommodations at a pretty reasonable price. And a wonderful staff to boot! The hotel buffet breakfast is delicious! Complete with a variety of eggs, pastries, charcuterie, , fruits and juices, it was a great way to start a full day of walking tours. My room was incredibly comfortable with decor that seemed inspired by Marie-Antoinette. The bed was simply outstanding. Plush yet firm, and full of fluffy pillows of all sizes. The only minor criticism I would share are 1) The bathroom was poorly lit; 2) The in-room dining menu was very limited and cuisine was too Americanized. I would have preferred more local flavors. I also really appreciated the hotel's focus on fitness and wellness, which was represented all throughout their halls and marketing materials. read more

People are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. I'll tell my children to stay here when they go to Milan. The room is always clean. Excellent location. We requested for a late check out which is normally 12 pm and they extended it till 2 pm and more if we wanted to stay in the room since our flight is at 9 pm. This hotel is a 6 star in my opinion. I checked in for only one night on my way to Rome and I couldn't have been more pleased with this! it definitely is a bit westernized for a hotel in Europe, but situated in a good part of Milan, the Westin Palace adds a bit of Italian charm too itself. When I arrived I was greeted with large welcoming smiles, which is pretty nice when you're a very very confused foreigner. I checked in and went up to my room. I reserved just your basic one person-lowest price possible hotel room, and when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised. the rooms are beautiful and spacious! along with the most comfortable bed ever. (King sized!!) the room was very clean and put together. I do have a few complaints though... other than the surprisingly affordable room, everything else is WIDLY overpriced. just to use the phone in the room for a local call, you have to pay €10. And don't even get my started on the food. Over all, I would recommend this place. definitely! Just don't buy anything extra. read more

Try to get one of the newly renovated rooms, which are chic and modern. Rooms come in various sizes so some can be on the small side. They give you a complimentary bottle of water each day and the bath products are of the Green Tea Westin brand. They have a nice assortment of food for breakfast buffet in the restaurant in the lobby. The food from the in-room dining menu can be better. Service is lackluster. After I checked in, I got fed up waiting forever for my luggage that I had to go down to the lobby to pick it up myself. Concierge was also not very nice and kind of stuffy. read more

I have reported this hotel location to their corporate office for their check out fees which includes a city tax that was nowhere mentioned in our initial booking nor was it ever disclosed when we checked in. They demanded a different form of payment once I checked out to cover this bizarre fee. I have tried to email the front desk manager Francesco but he is completely incompetent at his job and has zero customer service training. Excellent hotel. Well-situated, responsive service and the rooms are comfortable. It isn't a budget-hotel by any means, but SPG and Starwood connections help! The architecture is beautiful. Be sure to check out the rooftop during the day for a view of the Duomo and 360 Milano. I don't mind the steep price tag as long as I receive something tangible in return. Look elsewhere then. The Westin palace, not differently from the Westin in Rome, is a tribute to the "stile anticato", the questionable strive to make everything look old, even though it's been recently renovated. It's truly a matter of taste, I obviously wouldn't base the score on personal preferences, but I would argue you'd find far better alternatives walking distance from here. The Excelsior Gallia, also SPG, is on a category of its own, a truly modern, luxurious experience. For that truly old look and feel, just cross the street to the Hotel Principe di Savoia (a Dorchester luxury property). For business travelers who appreciate value for money, the Hilton Milan is a far, far better option. Other reviews mention "good service". Not my experience: they forgot to upgrade me, I had a hard time ordering room service, I had to remind them to include my breakfast and every interaction felt like I was just a nuisance to the staff's daily routine. The breakfast is €25 if you order upfront, €40 if paid on the spot, and it's really nothing to write home about - just go to any café in Rome and €4 will leave you better off and with margin for tip as well. The room service was disappointing, poor quality of ingredients, exorbitant prices: €33 for a miniscule sole and salad appetizer? The fitness center is in line with the European's lack of interests for gyms in hotels, meaning it's there, it does the job, it's not great. If at 7:30am nobody thought of bringing in new towels I would (and did) get a little annoyed. Is it all so bad? Not really, the Westin is a great brand, but I feel like they give service for granted. While their Sunday brunch is quite nice, every other dining option pales in comparison to what you can get by eating out in Milan. The rooms are cozy and clean, the bed is comfortable, the common areas are elegant. But this is not Versailles, I hope they'd step up their game and either become more attentive or price it reasonably. read more

Beautiful hotel overlooking Milan. We got upgraded to an unbelievable suite near the top floor with shower room, dressing room, sauna, dining area, etc. You name it. Nice room. Gotta figure that regular rooms are also nice. Rooftop deck is sweet. Did room service for dinner and it was really good. Got some salads and some kids food. They forgot the desserts. Service was good until they argued with us at checkout about the desserts. They had to call all over the place to get approval to remove the desserts from the bill. A little bit of a pain. Stay elsewhere. Was there for 2 nights November 2013. Much of the hotel is quite 'tired'. Despicable that they even gave us a room on 7th floor as it was so worn, stained, chipped dented walls. And this is their Starwood Preferred Members floor!! The creepiest was the very odd large man sitting in chair just outside the elevator nearly 24/7. I was so curious so asked him who/what he was doing there. In English he told me I am a bodyguard and pointed to the room across from where he sat. If someone 'needs' a bodyguard, you'd think they would stay away from high traffic area near elevator!? And they do not provide free wifi on the loyal customers floor. Bad! As for their Concierge personnel; the 2 men we dealt with were so not friendly, not helpful. I think they pulled one off garbage duty as he was SO unkempt and untidy in appearance. As for doormen, I actually watched three of them watch an elderly woman walk gingerly on wet pavement to a taxi. No offer to help her, they just watched. Perhaps this is Milanese behavior because no where else in Italy (across years of traveling there) have we experienced such lackluster, incompetent and disappointing service. This hotel is a black eye for Westin, Starwood and even for Milan. Will not hesitate sharing this with Starwood and they will ask as I am a good customer. This hotel is centrally located, elegant, and well furnished. It reminds me of the Waldorf Astoria in Manhattan but a little more ornate. It sits on the same street as the main train station but I would suggest taking a taxi to the hotel since it costs just a few euros. If you want to go to the Cathedral, get into the park and do some people watching while on your way there. The shopping area around the Cathedral was elegant and clean. If I remember correctly there was no coffee pot in the room but where else can you find a crystal chandelier in a hotel room? read more

A bit dingy and dark, in need of a renovation. Staff are very correct and efficient. Despite traveling on expense account for business, I couldn't help at double-take at the prices for laundry and room service. A suitcase of underwear with a couple of shirts and pair of trousers was 200 euro. Food is exorbitant too. The hallways are gloomy, with dim lights and no sunlight. The hotel feels very dated, and not really in a charming way. That said, the eight-floor solarium is enormous, and affords great 360 views out to the Alps on one side; the Duomo on the other. read more
