The inside of this spot is like being transported to the UK and bartender actually told us that the whole interior was imported an old pub from Ireland! So super cozy, with a fire crackling and perfect for a winter escape. The speciality cocktails all sounded delicious but we went with some classics which were prepared wonderfully! We didn't eat as the kitchen closes at 8pm. Great for small groups to grab a drink or a more casual date.

Stopped here for a drink and ended up getting an appetizer. The vibe was fun and cozy, with cute ceilings. The service was friendly but you have to go to the bar to order drinks and food even if you are at a table. They do bring the food over when it is ready. We got a cosmo and it was super tart which I love. We got the pretzels and cheese and the cheese was sooo goood. I literally could have just ate that with a spoon. Def worth a stop if you are in the area.

I love love love this setting. Very den-ish, like i was waking into after-dinner smoking room for gentlemen back in the day with leather chairs and a fireplace. It was so cozy. If I had been in front of the fireplace I might have stayed all night. Our server was great as she was also the hostess AND bartender. Poor thing was doing it all on her own but managing very well. We barely had to wait at all for our drinks. My only complaint is that the two drinks we tried were very weak and the menu selection was a bit odd in my opinion. There were a lot of fruity bourbon options and a few non-bourbon selections (which is great for those who don't prefer bourbon). Buutttt, it's called the whiskey room and I could barely taste it in my drink. I was surprised they didn't have any standard menu sections that were more spirit-forward like the vieux carre, old fashioned, Manhattan, sazerac, etc. There were a few variations of these but none of the standards. Maybe it's because those are so common they don't feel they need to put them on the menu and you can just order them on your own? Not sure. I was just surprised.

This place has a great selection of whiskeys, great atmosphere and service!! I didn't have much time to spend here unfortunately but this is a place that I'm looking forward to returning to and spending more time here relaxing with some of their great whiskey!!! Highly recommended!!

VERY neat vibe. Felt old school, dark, classic.... like one of those old smoking rooms but more modern? We stopped in here for a quick cocktail, and it did not disappoint! Drinks are artfully crafted, nice service, and a cozy kinda feel to start off our evening on the right foot! Ordered: - Thats my Jam- infused with local raspberry jam! This was sweet, strong, and so tasty - Bourbon St. Cider- a cocktail drink, with added local apple cider. This was not very sweet, but had a nice "Fall" taste to it We would definitely return here!

We stopped in for a cocktail before dinner right as they were opening. Easy going bartender, helped us choose our cocktail and GREAT ambience. Wish we were able to be there late, can only imagine how great it is when it's crazy busy. Make the trip, go in, say hello, and have a well made cocktail In a cozy , welcoming, all age pub.

So glad we stopped in for a drink! Michael, the bartender, was amazing! He was super knowledgeable and made several awesome recommendations. I was basic and he made me a delicious amaretto sour while my husband had a special cocktail and then a neat pour of whiskey. The whiskey he initially ordered was generic so Michael suggested one of his favorites. My husband went with the suggestion and loved the whiskey! I highly recommend stopping here and only hope you get Michael as your server!

Nice speakeasy vibes in downtown Burlington (VT). The Whiskey room didn't disappoint. Appears to have a good bar choice BUT we stopped in for some good whiskey. We're staying 1.5hrs away so we couldn't go in too much on whiskey tastings but my cocktail- The Sumac Sour was delicious! Not too big of a menu but who's really there for the food anyway! I love that the menu caters to meat eaters as well as vegetarians The Falafel Burger was 5 & the sweet potato fries were tasty-- especially with a side of the sriracha aioli Service was quick, attentive & on point! I will definitely be back to visit!!

The atmosphere and whiskey selection was intriguing. My brother and I made a Fall tradition to visit.

My second was also a Sazerac: their Irish Sazerac, made with an Irish whiskey and other ingredients which I've forgotten.

Also, just FYI, most of the restaurants in town are closed Mondays, Tuesdays and some on Wednesdays as well. Or the deli is open till 7pm but you can't order sandwiches past 2pm. ‍ We were only in the area for a day but weird closing times or days were highly prevalent. But I digress, Mad River Inn has lush gardens and thoughtful landscaping throughout the expansive property. It seems like a wonderful place to hold a rustic themed wedding as they have an outdoor chapel with seating and a dedicated indoor hall. The inn, tap room and restaurant are all very tastefully decorated in modern farmhouse style, with a lot of greige (gray-beige) paint that was very popular a while ago. Thoughtful touches are every where. Our check in person was very nice and helpful. We loved our room for our family of three where we could spread out and not be all in the same room all the time. The twin beds were wonderfully soft (my personal favorite) but the queen bed was definitely not as lush. I slept in one of the four twin beds as my husband snores. The bedding was soft and inviting. AC was great as it was a very hot humid day/night. The complimentary breakfast the next morning was next level good served by a very friendly, very accommodating chef. Homemade granola, breads, bagels, pastries etc but also a cooked to order breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and home fries. Juice coffee etc of course as well. So I would actually give this place 5 stars but took off some for not having a dining room open for guests every day and the fact that our whole family mentioned the constant low level banging noise we heard below us as we were all trying to sleep. As there were no guest rooms below us we surmised that it was probably a washer and dryer making the noises. Husband said an easy fix to this is an arrester on the dryer that can be added to lessen the banging. Or skip doing laundry past 10pm. Still would highly recommend. Wish we could have tried the restaurant for dinner.
