The burgers were grilled to perfection:Spinach and Goat Cheese Burger for me and my husband had the VT Maple BBQ Burger on a gluten free bun. Deserts were delicious: Brownie Sundae for me and VT Island vanilla ice cream for my partner. We also had their ginger beer and black cherry ginger beers which were very good! Great cozy pub for a rainy day. I had an IPA that was light and refreshing - forgot the name of it but it was very easy to drink and honestly might be one of the best IPA's I've had. It was also very reasonably priced for craft beer. For dinner I had the special which was a hot honey chicken sandwich that had goat cheese and string onions, served with a side salad with house vinaigrette and a side of ranch. The server did warn me, and it was written on the menu too, that the hot honey was quite spicy, and indeed it was! I was sweating from the spice, but it was good! The ranch on the side was nice to cool it down a bit. Good service, good food, but would honestly go back for just the beer! I got a black bean burger with sweet potato fries- the fries were flavorless and overcooked and the burger had little flavor and I found a hair inside. Came in for dinner and a drink and overall had a good experience. For my dinner choice I went with the grilled chicken thighs and it was very good. Lots of food with all the sides and the chicken was cooked to perfection. I had a stout beer that was very flavorful and delicious, and I had an Irish red (i don't remember exactly what it was except Irish) and it wasn't very good, lacked flavor and taste. Got to say the beers are better than the food at this local favorite brewery in Burlington. It isn't that much of a surprise, because they should be able to make good ones. Vermont Pub & Brewery is the oldest of the many in town. Been around for quite awhile. This means they have many beers to choose from, and might as well get food as well. As the outside of the building proudly says, it's the oldest local brewery. It's been around since the 1980s, long before the craft brewery craze. This means they've had plenty of time to develop a variety. A ton on tap to get. Of course this is why we came for sure. It's about $7 a pint. That's about typical. Best one we had was the Forbidden Fruit. This is made with raspberries, but it's still not overly fruity though. Food menu is more limited. It's about $5 for the Mixed Green Salad. Basic. There's not a lot to get on the food menu that isn't meaty. Have to try it if you want to get some of the best local beers. It's got a ton to choose from. Glad this place was open as some other restaurants on church street were closing for the afternoon break or maybe for the day. The service was fast, the food came out quickly and there was enough on the menu to please most anyone. It is pub style food. They also have a wide array of sandwiches. I had to try the French dip burger. I loved the caramelized onions on the burger and they cooked the meat medium well like I asked. Went in there on Sunday evening, and quickly seated as place was quiet inside. Started with poutine as an appetizer - serving size even as an appetizer was small for price. For entrees we had a salad, added steak, and a French dip burger. Let's just say, I apologized to my wife as this was my choice for dinner. The restaurant was conveniently located in downtown Burlington just a short walk from the lake. For an appetizer, we ordered chips and salsa and it was delicious. Prices were good. A glass of wine only $7.00 compared to a place a block away that charged $15. But the food was just mediocre. I asked if the Caesar salad and croutons were house made. The manager said that they were NOT. She said the Caesar was very good and that they've been in business for over 30 years - so it must be alright. The salad and dressing were just ok and the added chicken was very good. But after 30+ years, they should've figured out how to buy or make a decent croutons. Absolutely terrible experience. Terrible management and ownership. Do not come here. I don't like leaving reviews for bad things but this had to be shared. Tried a dish recommended by staff, and after a few bites I really couldn't eat it. It just wasn't good. Honestly as a restaurant worker I hate sending stuff back but I am on vacation with my family and I had to eat something. I politely asked to send it back and switch it for the other dish I was leaning toward. Server, who was nice enough, took my plate off the table back to the kitchen, then brought it back to tell me the kitchen and management refused to take it off my bill in order to get another meal (a higher priced one mind you). They wanted me to pay for both meals. We were able to hear the entire discussion between our server and the bartender from where we were sitting before a manager ever came to us. They offered to take off my $6 beer and two sodas from the tab, which is about half the price of the meal I originally purchased. And I would still have to buy food. Honestly an embarrassing experience and one that made me and my family feel absolutely taken advantage. The management would apologize but then not choose to solve the problem. She said she would leave a note for ownership, but we are only here for one day so clearly they didn't care much about our experience. read more

Unlike the other locations which were just breweries outside of town, this place had more of a restaurant vibe and was in the city - making it a perfect last stop for those who wanted to continue their night out. . We started downstairs with the tour of the facility - it was crammed but cool to see. We made our way up for the main event. Rather than making our own flights, the table was prepared with several pours of a few brews. Nothing stood out as far as the drinks are concerned but the staff was friendly. Pure comfort food here, we started with the pretzel bites which were so good, I'm not sure how they make them but they seemed almost fried? They were delicious anyway. This business stood out to me with how well they took covid specific measures, a with mask requirement especially when interacting with staff and when leaving ones seat. I did notice however that one of our waiters just left our food/drinks at the small corner table that I assumed was present for social distancing measures, and our other waiter actually made more of an attempt to get the food to the specific individuals within our party and ensure that we all got the right orders--which I really appreciated! The staff was very nice and helpful, and all of our food/drinks were quite generously portioned! There is a variety of options on the menu and I really enjoyed my meal. Note that a party of 5 or more will have 18 percent gratuity already included in the check, but I found the prices to be affordable and consistent with similar options in the area. But, just off Street this nice looking place offered us a place and a bowl of water for our four legged freind. The beers are just what they should be, crafted with care and faithful to the styles offered. The portabella burger was excellent, the fish and chips generous with house made tartar sause.
