Located in some of Englands most lovely walking countryside, you will have no problem walking up a thrist and appetite, both of which can be admirably satiated at the Blyth. Some of us began with a selection of teas, and others chose coffee. The finger sandwiches were delicious and included turkey and cranberry sauce, egg salad, and cucumber & cream cheese. My friends raved about the scotch eggs and sausage roll, but I enjoyed the salmon and dill roll. The buttermilk scone was perfectly tender and was served with jam and clotted cream. Desserts included a macaron, a chocolate orange profiterole, an apple crumble tartlet and Christmas cake. All were perfection. Staff were very attentive. Paid parking is adjacent.

He did a fine job waiting on our table but we felt like it was always rushed. We had short rib pie, the sea bass & the snapper & they were all excellent. The birthday brownie was complimentary & a nice touch. Their warm bread was outstanding. They have a nice wine list, although being from the states I wasn't familiar with most of their wines. The atmosphere is just right, not too stuffy but does have class. I'd definitely would go again whenever I'm back visiting.

We got the following: Pork belly Sous vide squid Catch of the day All of their food was beautifully plated and OMG the seafood was so fresh and cooked so well. I had never had a dish prepared by sous vide method and it blew my mind. It was also a nice bonus that they had WiFi since I could check in and post my photos. I hope to find another place back home (los Angeles, California) that is just as great as The Crown. One day we'll be back!

Add to that the location, the ambience and the general relaxed air and you have yourself a 5 star dining experience. Really rather excellent.

In the pub, there is a nice and cosy front bar as well as a larger tap room. The bar with an always good selection of local beer served directly from the barrel is sandwiched in between. The beer is superb. Across the courtyard is the hotel/restaurant. I can't really comment on this because I've only ever gone to the pub. When I was last there, a large group of Napoleonic war re-enactment enthusiasts were holding their AGM in the restaurant. Zut alors!

I've stayed in the rooms and cool, fresh and 'sea side' in a modern way, recommended, especially the sea views. The bar is buzzy, warm and inviting, doesn't detract from the dining room but adds to the overall atmosphere. Of course, in the summer, the terrace is the place to be with wonderful, uninterrupted views of the sea. Took a trip up on my return to the UK and wasn't disappointed this evening, a changed menu but some excellent additions (although damn it, I miss the cheese straws and pigs'n'blankets as starters..) Shared baked halloumi, on a bed of of artichokes and chestnuts for starters. We both decided to go for the wonderful air cured gammon steaks with chargrilled pineapple and a selection of delectable side dishes - the gammon was really outstanding, been a long time since I've eaten gammon and this was terrific. Finished with apple crumble and custard for me, and a modern twist on Black Forest gateaux for her...both really rich, and delightful ways to end a lovely meal. Located on the sea front in old Felixstowe it boasts amazing views from its front conservatory with large windows. And being slightly further away from town you will find that it's not as rammed as the other sea front pubs. The menu is good and the specials are frequently changing meaning there is always something new to get your teeth around. The pub is separated into two areas, one with is very 'pub like' with a pool table, creaky wooden chairs and blackboards and the other is slightly newer with netting on the ceiling to give it that 'fisherman's' feel. Highly underrated pub that serves all day and if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the high street, take a walk to old Felixstowe and stop in for a bite.
