The wedding was scheduled for March 28, 2020. As is easily imagined, the Corvid-19 pandemic played havoc with plans. A week before the plans for a large McComb church were cancelled and moved to country church that had history for the groom's family. They simplified the plans and the resulting arrangements were a perfect backdrop for the simple one room place of worship. Trisha was absolutely wonderful to work with! She made suggestions, but was not pushy. The arrangement I ordered for the Rehearsal Dinner was perfect. I think my beautiful new daughter-in-law was as pleased as I was. Thank You! I was told that I would receive a refund for the mistake. I received a call from the manager who asked if I would like my refund by check or added back to my credit card (which I requested). Waiting more than a month for the refund to be posted, I traveled to McComb (I live in Texas) to ask where my refund was. I was told that I had been given a store credit. I replied that I wanted a refund and not a store credit. 2 months later I am still waiting for the refund. I have emailed Alford a number of times with no response. Too bad I can't give them a negative star rating.

When I noticed the location said "Louisiana Castle" I was a bit confused. I had not only never heard of such a place, but to find it was located on the outskirts of Franklinton made me even more surprised. The Drive The drive to the castle is beautiful. Once you leave the New Orleans area and get north of Covington, you would think you are in a whole different world. The terrain changes to rolling hills and there are horse farms and quaint little towns. I suggest a wedding that begins during the daylight hours so that your guests can enjoy the view. The Venue The castle is pretty neat looking. I would have preferred a real moat, but outside it was definitely castley. The inside rooms were fairly well laid out and while the tables were close together, I didn't feel cramped like I have at other venues. Outside was a beautiful patio that had a very remote country feel. I could have spent hours under one of the umbrellas drinking beer, but that would have been pretty antisocial. The Wedding Area The space for the ceremony is located outside in front of the castle. The weather was perfect for the wedding I attended, but I would imagine rain and heat could make things difficult. The entire area was wired for sound so we didn't miss any of the vows, etc. Summary If you are looking for a unique wedding venue, you can't go wrong with a castle in the middle of the woods. NOTE: If anyone else wants to invite me to a wedding here, holla. I am always a fun guest.

The outdoor vows ceremony location was lovely amongst the pines...I just had to convince little miss flower girl to not wander off to pick up the pine cones. The reception hall is a little more generic...well, reception hall. I wish it had been warmer to have enjoyed the back patio more, especially since I learned after the fact that there was a full suit of armor back there. Be warned that this is not some historic building built by a crackpot in the 19th century. This is totally modern venue with a retro look. The parking lot was unpaved and did not have much lighting so was little challenging after dark...in heels. But c'mon on your in the country. I only wish we could have take photos while wearing/using the swords/helms/other armor-type items. Understandably we were not allowed to remove them from the walls. At lease Jennifer & her new husband got to take photos while ensconced on the thrones.

Ms Viola creates cakes for the Louisiana Castle. A wedding cake and a groom's cake are included in…read morethe packages that they offer. She also does cakes/desserts outside of the castle as well. She doesn't do email, but she's pretty awesome about creating a cake to fit your vision. If you find a picture online, you can print it out and show it to her (snail mail or in person) and she'll make it for you. Both of our cakes were beautiful. The wedding cake could have been a bit more moist, but it was pretty, and designed exactly the way I pictured it (maybe even better, actually).
