However I really didn't like the happy hour drinks because I don't really like dark liquor! Anyway once we got our cocktails we ordered some appetizers and the appetizers were just okay! Amazing ambience. Truly crafted cocktails without the pretentious vibe some "craft" cocktail bars have. Tristan made us the mezcal espresso martini which is amazing- (you can do it with or without cream.) As a follow up, we grew in conversation about what his favorite cocktail was to create... we told him three things that we enjoy in a cocktail and he made me a gin martini I thought I could only dream of. We stopped by the White Rabbit after dinner and were pleased by the setup and intricate decor. The dim lighting is nice and keeps the vibe relaxed. You can see the menu online after scanning the QR code on the table. We had the Nothing Gold Can Stay, Not My Cup of Tea, 2 When the Dance Ends, and Black Ribbons of Coal. I love the fun names for the drinks and matching cups! All the drinks were strong and I finally tried bourbon! It's spicy haha. The drinks were really good. Bartenders make drinks that taste delicious, not just poured them full of alcohol. Waitress was very good and it was a fun atmosphere. Door guy carded me and made me walk back to my car for my ID. I am 56. Common sense should be applied. Honestly if I could have got a table elsewhere I would not have not returned which is sad because once inside, everything was absolutely perfect. This is our Second trip to the White Rabbit. We were greeted by security with a very pleasant vibe. We were allowed to go down into the entrance of the Rabbit within the proper time of our reservation. We were then met by a pleasant staff. We were sent directly to our table and were greeted by our waiter in a timely manner. Our drinks the EL chupacabra and the black ribbons of coal were amazing. We finished our evening with a wonderful carrot cake that is absolutely die for. I would definitely recommend coming here for a nightcap or a wonderful dessert. Wow. Everything from the decor to the service to the cocktails - knocked my socks off. The bartender, Fernando definitely stole the show. He told me I could order off the menu or we could have a little chat and he would make me a craft cocktail based on my responses. Of course I chose the latter. The cocktail he made me was so unique and booming with different flavors, I've never tasted anything like it. I've been looking forward to paying this bar a visit for months, it did not disappoint. The atmosphere has a dark warmth, the bar itself is beautiful! We ordered our drinks right away, and were served quickly... at first. Had to flag our waiter to place a food order, we wanted to try a little of everything. After that he pretty much vanished. Our food was brought out in a timely manner, well most of the food. We were missing an order of Macaroni and cheese and brussel sprouts. After waiting 15 minutes to flag the waiter a manager noticed and came to our rescue. A possible disaster was successfully averted and our evening was back on track! When my sister doesn't get her order everyone is in trouble. Even though our waiter vanished the team at TWR is impeccable, the rest of the crew members were quick and everyone was very courteous. This place is so want to be big city and it's just not. There was literally no one inside on a random night and they made us wait at the door because our whole party wasn't there. The last girl joining us was coming in from Scottsdale, so obviously she was going to be a little late with traffic. They made us wait outside until we complained enough and then we were brought inside. Once we got in there I was like what the heck!? There's so many empty tables and they wanted to form some sort of line outside to make it look busy. The drinks and food was meh. I'd NEVER come back here simply because of the way we were treated. Be nicer to your guests walking up to the door at the bottom of the staircase. read more

Short answer: All talk, no class. Tip gougers, poor service, ableist and not disability friendly and overpriced Long answer: The speakeasy vibe was trendy pre-covid and it could of been cool here, except they fail at every turn, add on their own tips, overcharge and they don't even stick to their own at shtick. Then, there is the accessibility nightmare, but more on that later. Show up with friends, and its clear it's a bar: The "hidden" entrance has a bouncer and some corporate dude with an earpiece like a wannabe secret service agent. They make this big deal that you need some *password* that you need to sign up for so they can data mine your email and socials, but when we tried to give it they didn't give a moments care and started just reading the bar's sales pitch. Applebee's feels more edgy than this place already. Then they said it was reservation only! My friend told him that she tried to make one on the website, but it just flat out wasn't working. The small corporate guy gets on the radio like he is negotiating a hostage swap, making us feel like tools that made his day 10x more difficult. After about 5 minutes he "works something out" and were permitted to go inside, past velvet ropes (soooo speakeasy style). Once downstairs (and, ONLY stairs! Disabled folks, forget it. Not cool enough I guess. And, the website says nothing about this or accomodations), you come to a chintzy hall with stereotype 1920's ish looking junk to a door dressed as a bookcase. The club wasn't even half full, with a full room to the side EMPTY! WHY the drama over the reservation I don't know. Also they claim this is a bar with a "dress code". They don't care. We took the time to take the cues and dressed for the dress code stated on the website, but inside was just more dude bros with tshirts and backwards ball caps. And the music? Canned dad rock from the 70's. The "speakeasy" part begins... When? We get seated, and then are reminded that this is a "seated bar"? What the...?? Now we are being told to stay in our seats like children? And the seats? Round, tiny 18" ottoman tree stump looking things that you have to perch on! There are some benches, but again, if you have mobility issues or disability, they clearly don't want you here! The food? I've had better Costco samples, and I am not sure these weren't. Frozen pizza and prepackaged junk. But, it's a bar, so I guess I should not complain about that. Except that the tables are SO tiny, one appetizer tray and the other 4 of you sharing the 20" or so table don't have room for drinks. Especially since the waiters dont clear your empty drinks! Speaking of drinks, for all of the hype for "craft cocktails" all they seem to care about is fruity or gimmick drinks where they brag that you cannot taste the booze. Have these people actually seen a bar before? And the underwhelming drinks will put you back about 18-27 bucks EACH! And, at the end of the meal the server decided to add EXTRA to my bill, charging me almost $100 on my $62 bill! And, that Bill was for two cocktails, a flatbread and a coke no ice!! Untrustworthy, unhelpful staff, overpriced and underwhelming drinks and food stale gimmick atmosphere (what little there was) that the employees didn't even care about and credit card fraud all lead up to what I already know: I will stick to GOOD establishments in places like Phoenix and Tempe. The last time I go near this place ever again, and I will be sure to let others know. read more

We had a little hard time trying to find the unmarked door, but once you enter you walk down the stairs to a secret room where you have to find the entrance. The white rabbit is a very nice speakeasy that I like to pop in to throughout the month located in downtown Gilbert. You can't make a reservation, but they often take walk-ins with ease. the walk down and entrance is very cute and satisfies all those "speakeasy "needs. I personally like sitting at the bar so I can watch them make the drinks but I've also sat in one of the booths several times, and it has been a pleasant experience. I have tried several drinks and what I can say is that you're always going to get a good drink. We have tried the custom drink several times from the bartenders and I've never been disappointed. the last time I was there I had an espresso martini with gin, instead of vodka and it literally tasted like melted ice cream.... so good. The staff was very knowledgeable and if you're not sure what you want they have great suggestions and ideas! one of my favorite spots to take friends to when visiting. read more

I have been to a lot of speakeasy bars and this one is on par with my other experiences: Location: typically, the location of a speakeasy is a bit hidden and you get there because someone you know knew someone else who knew someone who has been there (and along down the line). It can't be TOO hidden or it would go out of business. Password: in general, you have to know a password to get into a speakeasy. Some of them tie the password to a reservation. This is common if the space is limited -- like a speakeasy that is within the walls of another restaurant, hotel, or place of business. Others tie it with a paid event (some speakeasies even have secret rooms within them that you can pay to reserve!) While others do away with it completely as a big hassle. In the case of the White Rabbit, you can subscribe to their monthly emails to get the password. I think they change it monthly now, which preserves the spirit while keeping the barrier to entry pretty low. Secret entrance: Many times, you need to know HOW to get into a speakeasy. At this one, you have to give the password and then are permitted to find the secret entrance. At others, you need to go to the secret entrance and give the password. This one makes it fun, especially for the first time visitors (like I was this trip), since your group is the only one permitted into the hallway to find how to enter the bar. This is nice because you're not competing with strangers or missing out on the experience if you want to see if you can find the door. I was surprised by just how large this place is. It has at least a couple of rooms, a very large bar area, and plenty of space -- at many speakeasies, they cram the tables and seats together. At this one, there would have been plenty of room between us and the next table, even if the place had been full. Ambience: the servers and receptionists here are dressed up in black and the music is from a bygone era. I forgot to check whether the bartenders were wearing vests and bowties... everyone was pleasant and maintained a very "speakeasy" character. Drinks: it is a speakeasy and typically that means that they focus on mixing cocktails. It is my opinion that you should order a mixed drink of some kind so that the bartender(s) can show you their stuff. The menu at the White Rabbit has many options and their bar is well stocked. Sure, you can order a Scotch, neat... but picking up a "Block Hole Sun" instead, or at least an Old Fashioned or Manhattan would be more in line with the whole experience. My drink was excellent: very tasty and strong. This one has food, which I think is common at about 70% of the speakeasies I have visited. We had nachos with beef. The toppings were tasty, but the only downside of the whole night was that the chips used to make our nachos were a bit on the stale side. Overall, I recommend this place and will definitely go back to check out the other drinks and food. read more

What a great spot. I came opening week, but the yelp page wasn't up so I couldn't leave a review. I've been here several times, always good service amd always good drinks. Tonight What Lies Beneath is my drink of choice, and it's fantastic. I'm waiting for the peach brie, which I hear is amazing. I'm also awaiting friends who don't know what they're in for. We're playing spygames, and I dropped a pin in the parking lot as the meeting point and will give instructions once they are in parking lot. From the secret password and hidden entry to the wonderfully concocted bevy menu and whiskey array they offer. They definitely aim to please and do just that! This is a true speakeasy to come visit. Of course like other just find the red lights to locate this place. You won't be disappointed once you get in. I recommend getting here early because when we left the line to enter was long. Quick hint make sure you know the password to enter. When you enter the first door it feels like your stuck and don't know where to enter. Once you find how to enter the bar you get the feel of when the prohibition was happening back in the days. It's packed but the decor the chandeliers and chairs were setup perfect. We sat at the bar which was perfect and since we were short on time and also first time here the bartender suggested dealers choice. The drinks were Smokey from what they made and a sour one. It's a fun atmosphere and it definitely takes you back to the 20s except for the prices. They have a great happy hour but I think there was some confusion with our table. We did $8.00 drinks, we each had 2 - and our bill total was $30. Not sure if the server didn't charge us for happy hour or what the confusion was, but we didn't realize until after we paid since she didn't show us the tab total, just had us insert our cards, partly our fault. One of the girls had 4 drinks, and her bill was $80 - keep in mind we didn't have any food and we were one of the first tables there at 5pm. I love this place! Let me take you through my experience here! First, you line up outside and have to tell the bouncer the password to even be allowed to enter (sign up for their emails online to get the password). Once he lets you in, you walk down the stairs outside and enter into a hallway. The hallway has lots of shelves with different things on each shelf. But wait! you realize there's no door down there besides the one you came in! Have fun figuring out how to find the entrance to the bar! Once you find your the entrance, you're greeted by a waitress who takes you to your seat. Walking into the bar it feels like a blast from the past! Its considered to be a 1920's speakeasy bar--and it definitely gives you that vibe. The decor, lighting, and dress of the staff makes you feel like you walked into a Gatsby era party! Okay, now for the food and drink. Their menu has a large selection of drinks mainly, but also have some snacks and desserts that you can get. They also have two drink specials that aren't listed so make sure to ask your waitress for those bc those are really good! Their eight layer chocolate cake is SO GOOD.
