I happily went and was thrilled that it was being staged again here recently, at the indoor theater inside the newly renovated, gorgeous Johnson County Heritage Center, which by itself is a must-do in KC. I was a bit nervous because the actors/singers in this version were all teenagers, not professionals. But oh my goodness I should not have been worried- they were INCREDIBLE!!! The show is a master class in beautiful 1950's style 4-part harmony, and these young men were so impressive. Definitely one of the best versions of the show that I've seen!! I went on the last day of the run, and I wish I'd gone earlier so I could've seen it again. This was my first time seeing a show at this venue, but I'll definitely be back for more. The theater is small, about the size of KC Musical Heritage Society (I think that's what it's called???) at Crown Center, but the chairs are very comfortable and we didn't feel crowded at all. There's not a bad seat in the house.

We hired a lighting designer for the performance, unfortunately 3/4 away through, the system failed and they were un restore it. We finished the performance with house lights. Considering how much we paid for the space, I would've thought they would've offered us a compensation for the inconvenience. Or at least a written apology. We wrote them about these issues and we never heard back. very disappointed. Apart from the non-response, everyone had been very helpful to that point. Well since posting this review, Kat from the venue called and apologized for the piano not being tuned and refunded us some. We enjoy working with this company. Appreciate the follow through.

We really wanted to support them. I just saw Silent Sky starring the incredible Raleigh Peterson and it was magnificent. Karen Paisley directed the amazing cast and the story was so beautiful. We've seen C.S. Lewis and Freud have a conversation in an old mansion before their theater was repaired. "A Man for All Seasons", a story about Thomas Moore and his family, a wonderful Christmas trilogy and several other shows. Kansas City is blessed to have SO MANY incredible theater opportunities and companies. I'm a season ticket holder at MTH, KCAT and KC Rep and am SO GLAD I added MET to the mix too. I will be renewing. The venue (The Warwick Theater) is outstanding and everything they do here is thoughtful and well done. BTW: I am a SAG-AFTRA actor, so I know a little bit about acting and theater. These folks are doing it right.

The old Warwick is a Quaint Theater…read more Parking is a bit tricky as it's on main Street and there isn't a dedicated parking lot, so allow a few extra minutes. The Lobby has a full bar with lots of options you are able to bring into the theater. The seating is on retired church pews, so even though you purchase a "seat" it's going to be potentially next to others. The actors are top notch up and coming talent. It's one of the few non-equity houses in Kansas City ( Actor's Equity is the professional association). Even though the program said 90 minutes, no intermission, there was an intermission, so I was there 45 minutes longer than I was intending. The program also had no recording or flash photography, but there was a lady in the back row that took at least 50 pictures. I know that because I kept hearing the shutter. I was sitting in the front row, so I know the actors heard it too. Karen Paisley ( the artistic director ) was there and said nothing as the entire room could hear the shutter click and click... Click Click. Click Click. I don't know if she was affiliated with the production, but it completely ruined what was an emotional part of the show. All in all, they did a nice job with the show, the actors were exceptional, but I left regretting not going to a more professional production.

Now, I am not a Country fan, but my mother is and growing up in a household listening to Country I knew any of the songs, and acts that were performed. I will admit I do love me some Patsy Cline. I didn't really consider her a Country artist, but to each their own. The 3 main tributes were Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, and Dolly Parton. The show was performed by 3 main stage Ladies who did most of the Cover songs either as a solo or all together. They had a band that consisted of a piano, bass guitar, steel guitar, and a percussionist. They were great, they clearly practice, and put a lot of time and effort in perfecting their craft. Now I will admit I don't know how much the tickets cost for the show, my mother bought them. But I do know that she is a season ticket holder and stated they were reasonable prices. I know she enjoys doing these things with her friends. The area was somewhat small, but really there wasn't a bad seat in the house, which was mentioned many times when I was there. The parking area felt even smaller. Good thing the church ladies carpool. They recommended pulling in backwards to the parking spot, as it is easier when exiting the small lot. There is a small concession area I believe for during intermissions. I enjoyed myself, but mostly so I could spend the time with my mom while visiting. Would I go again? Only if she wanted me too, but otherwise no. I felt out of place, and it just wasn't something I would normally go see. Was it great for the majority of the age group, YES, did they have a blast, YES, will they be returning, HECK YES. Thank you to the staff and performers for a great show, even if it wasn't my cup of tea.

Located next to the new library which provides more parking and the construction work is all complete. It's very nice! Definitely planning to attend more shows here!

I am not from KC and had never heard of this show before. I found it while looking up kids'…read moreactivities here in KC, and I am so glad I did! The show we saw was hilarious. There was comedy for adults as well as the little ones. The 21 month old on my lap had an amazing time and was able to stay entertained the entire hour! I couldn't believe how enthralled she was with the show. I highly recommended taking kids of all ages. Worth the price for a fun, unique, and engaging activity.

The theater is very small, but the environment is one created with love for entertaining children. The artwork and the sets seem to be created by their small staff and volunteers, from what I gather from their website. The puppets are brightly colored and the "acting" is what makes it fun. Nothing like hearing puppets whistle and sing show tunes along with an Italian folk story. Get there early for a photo with Oscar the Grouch in the lobby! You can also buy 'make your own' puppet kits for a nominal fee. *Another bonus is they offer discounts if you are a member of KCPT (PBS affilitate in KC).

We attend the symphony whenever we can. The Kansas City Symphony is so impressive! It's one of the…read moretop 20 symphonies in the country and you can hear it with their musicianship. My wife and I took a friend from out of town to see Trey Anastasio as he played with the Kansas City Symphony. He mentioned from the stage several times how impressed he was with the symphony and the pristine sound in the hall. The concert was fantastic as they played Trey's arrangements of his music. They did an excellent job, of course. We've heard them play everything from Handel's Messiah to Mahler's fifth Symphony, and a ton of music that is incredibly beautiful and very difficult. These scores were not super difficult, but they sure were entertaining. Our community is blessed to have such an incredibly talented Orchestra!

A couple of times we unexpectedly weren't able to attend, and the box office staff were extremely courteous and prompt in helping with ticket exchanges. Whether you're a symphony fan or just enjoy music in general, this is absolutely worth experiencing at least once.

The Music Hall is such an iconic KC venue. it's one of those that has been around literally…read moreforever, and despite it showing massive wear and tear, still manages to serve up some vintage charm. First thing I'll note is that parking is a pain here. If they ever do renovations to the music hall (and they should), it would be wise to include an underground dedicated parking garage. We drove around for a while before settling on our old reliable (the Cosentino's garage) and walking over. Once you get in, it's old school KC art deco in every detail, which honestly is kind of nice and enjoyable to take in. On the pro side of things you've got charm, you've got plenty of seats in the house, and it's a nice place to take in a show. On the negative side the restrooms are small and outdated, the seats super sardined in by modern standards, and no really great set up for a bar or merch table. It all feels sort of ad-hoc since when this place was built it wasn't really built for those sort of modern conveniences. Overall it's a cool spot by historic standards, but by modern standards it's not my favorite venue in town.
