Amazing platter. Brie cheese + cheddar cheese + olives and salmon on little toasts. Latte or wine with your platter; to whichever your heart desires. Heaven!

    Wonderful selection of delicious cheeses

Great place to grab some cheese and then head out to the wineries for some wine tasting. Cheddars were very yummy.

The owner Ashley stopped to talk to us and he is passionate and deservedly proud of his cheese factory.

SHEEP CHEESE! I'm…read moresuch a fan of sheep cheese. On my very first road trip around Tasmania a few years ago, when I was still just a visitor, I got some Fleur cheese from Grandvewe's stall at the Salamanca market. It was a total splurge and I loved every sliver of it. Once I moved down here and had Grandvewe within my local grasp, it got added to the regular rounds for adventuring down this corner of the state. It's part of my favourite day trip down here and I've brought many friends and family members to the Cheesery. As well as a guided cheese tasting (Important), there's also a lovely cafe serving treats where you can perch on a deck with an amazing view out over the sheep paddocks and across the water to Bruny island. Bit of a treat of a view, in all honesty. I love that Grandvewe are constantly innovating and creating magic. Their white pearl feta is divine. Even things they make from by-products are magical--try the whey liqueur. No, really. It tastes like milk lollies. And the pinot paste, made from the marc (aka grapes leftover) from pinot pressings, is an amazing alternative to quince paste. Grandvewe also have events every few months on site such as the Medieval Cheese Romp and Grape Stomp, and the Blue Lovers Weekend, where you can get your hands dirty behind the scenes and help with grape stomping or even make your own blue cheese! I've yet to attend one of these events but fingers crossed I can get to one in the future because they look and sound like a lot of fun.

Seriously great cheeses. Lovely people making and serving them up. Super great stop on a road trip.read more

Most of the seatings are outdoors (there are some inside), and they are nicely done; except during winter it does get a bit chilly sitting outside sipping beer. We were curious about their smoked wallaby meat (a bit more chewy than kangaroo meat, and a slightly have a gamey flavour). I am glad we tried the wallaby meat, but I think once was good enough.

We dropped in on a Friday afternoon (around 3:30pm). The space is beautiful with a lot of seating outside amongst the trees and nature. Service is a bit spotty as it took awhile for us to get a cheese tasting flight. There's a lot of things to peruse once you're inside; cheese, fresh breads made on site (sourdough bread for $7.50 AUD), honey, muesli, granola, sauces, jams, oils and more. Beers are on tap (7 types) with a guest tap (Bruny Island Cider when we went). You can get a tasting paddle ($12.00 AUD) which lets you try four pre-picked flavours. For non drinkers, there's coffee and shakes. The chalkboard menu outside had about half a dozen options; platter, ploughman's lunch, oven baked otto, sourdough pizza, sourdough croque monsier, toastie and sourdough fruit toast. Saw a platter and pizza come out to a table that looked scrumptious. - Cheese tasting flight ($5.00 AUD) - you get to sample four types; tom (semi-hard), george (semi-hard), saint (classic Camembert) and 1792 (washed rind). All were tasty but our favourite was the 1792. It was aged on aromatic Huon Pine boards. Another fun spot to grab drinks and enjoy good food. You could easily spend a few hours wining and dining here.
