They frequently talk for extended periods, sometimes for hours, at an unreasonably loud volume. When asked politely to lower their voices, they become very defensive. It does not seem like an unreasonable request to ask for quiet in a library, especially when staff have been talking continuously for 30 to 45 minutes. Despite making several polite requests for them to be mindful of their volume, I was met with a rude response and even told, both implicitly and later directly, that I should stop coming if I did not like it. Over time, I felt unwelcome and ultimately stopped visiting this library. While I understand that some level of conversation is inevitable, prolonged loud talking in a space meant for reading, studying, and quiet reflection is not appropriate. I felt it was important to share this experience and also raise it with library leadership.

The workers are louder than the kids, hearing them from their office laughing with each other but unfortunately they can't talk to their friends. In order for them to do that they would have to "whisper," while they are louder then them. I came in with my child and overheard one of the workers telling kids she does not care about them and that she would put them on the street if they talked. As a parent that was a very alarming statement to hear. Very disrespectful.
