One of the best places in Michigan to find spirits is the Wine Garden in St. Claire Shores. Tony has all of the best spirits from every brand, in every iteration you can think of, all at reasonable prices. They have everything you need for amazing cocktails. Including licorice cordials, cherries, and toppings. They carry lots of gift items, special edition bottles, and decanters. The hospitality is always nice and inviting. He has a humidor filled with the best cigar brands. I even found some obscure cigars that are no in production. On this visit, I purchased a bottle of Uncle Nearest, Nearest Green. I had seen it in advertisements and posts on socials, but this is the first store that I had been able to find it. read more

Private lot 1/4 mile south of the busy 9 Mile intersection. Inside is a space crammed full of liquor, with many high end, and several exclusive barrel editions. Then a smaller wine section, then a great beer area including a large walkin cooler and lot of higher end beer releases. Lots of interesting stuff. Prices are a little high. I marked them down one star for staff. The counter woman is great. friendly, knowledgable. The guy in charge, an owner or manager, was bitching a lot and loudly about the liquor delivery and to and at the guy unpacking. Uncool and unfun. read more

THE best selection of bourbons on the East Side, period. And Big Tony is one of the most knowledgeable purveyors of that liquid gold you'll ever meet. Pretty good wine selection as well - often featuring a ridiculously low priced special on wine. My wife loved Chardonnay - Toasted Head was $6.99 recently - often "on sale" elsewhere at $9.99 or $10.99 & sometimes as high as $12 or $13. Another cool feature is their howler & growler station, always offering unusual beers not found in cans or bottles. A special store, worth the short drive to St Clair Shores!! read more

I felt like I was transported away into a magical 21 and over land. Like alcoholic Disneyworld for adults. Calm music played as I perused the most thorough aisles of wines, beer, mixers, and spirits that I've ever seen. Bar tools, spices, sodas, and accessories were thrown in the mix and if you like cigars, this place had them. The prices were completely acceptable. I dropped in here yesterday was not impressed. Many of my friends have bragged about this place all it did was make me question their judgement. They have a nice selection however their prices are much higher than my favorite spot "Woods Wholesale Wine" on Mack. Meiomi Pinot Noir was $5 more, Conundrum was $3 more and Belle Gloss was $14 more. I can't speak to the service here so what does that tell you. The one guy behind the counter just kept staring at me like I was going to rob the place. The Wine Garden has been within walking distance of my house for most of my life. I have gone in periodically in the past, but was never really impressed with the store. However, one of the last times I was in I noticed they had started carrying more craft beers. Not having any cash, I placed that nugget of knowledge in the back of my brain. Tonight - I had a little cash, so I stopped in. YOWZA. Their selection is great! It's not the biggest by any means, but they have a lot of really good beers for reasonable prices. Most important to me, though, is the attitude of people working. Tonight I met Antonio, who made it a point to introduce himself to me. We talked beer for a while, he made some recommendations and was telling me that he likes to grab a new bottle or 2 every time he works - just to try them. That's my kind of guy. I purchased just one bottle tonight - a Pinkus Organic Pilsner that Antonio assured me I would like & I do - very much. I really love going into local spots like this and being so wonderfully surprised. I'll be going back often to make my beer purchases. Oh, they also have wine, liquor, and other stuff that liquor stores carry, but my only really concern is the beer selection :-) read more

I don't come to this store anymore. My son used to buy cigars from here and the owner was extremely rude to him. Actually more than just rude! He went in there to complain about a cigar he bought that had mold on it and the owner treated him like a piece of dirt. My son has Autism and isn't that good at explaining himself all the time. This owner not only booted my son from the store but he insulted him and told him "what's the matter with you are you a bit slow" my son came home after that and was hysterical! I asked what happened and he told me how the owner there called him slow. He also berated him in front of other customers which made him feel ostracized. I do not recommend ever giving business to this shop owner after the way he completely verbally broke down my autistic son. read more

I probably won't be back. They post that they have a beer on Facebook, you go and they either look at you like they don't know what you're talking about OR they say they sold out. THEN a week later they post the same picture and advertisement. I shop around for rare craft beers on a regular basis. Each store has their own policy. Most I understand. But this place is always so backwards and shady. It happened more than once. That is why I'm giving a slightly negative review. read more

This place always has a great, wide selection of craft beers and fine wines. Not your typical liquor store by any means. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and always has a smile. If wine or good beer aren't your thing, they also carry a vast selection of top notch liquor and even a cigar humidor (which you can catch a whiff of when you walk in the door and it smells incredible). The store itself is very clean and well organized. Albeit, sometimes specialty and limited release craft beers are hard to find so you've got to be on your game if you want to score the rarities no matter where you shop. The wine garden does their absolute best to accommodate as many customers as they can when it comes to those rare beers. If you don't find what you want, you're obviously late to the party. But if you can't find it, they'll find it for you if its possible. I was looking for a hard to find brew a couple weeks ago. I went in and couldn't find it but spoke with management to help me out. The owner took down my contact info and personally called me a few days later when he came across what I needed. You can't and won't find that type of customer service just anywhere. I only do my business with the wine garden. Do yourself a favor and check em out. The owner even has his own line of beer being released soon that I can assure you, you won't want to miss. read more

From my first call to them looking for a specific sherry to the day I went in to pick it up nothing but top notch service! I was in town for the holidays and toward the end of my trip I was trying to find a specific Michigan sherry. Called them after doing a Google search in my parents zip code. Spoke to Tony, I believe he was the owner. They did not carry it, but if I was not able to find it he asked for me to call him back and he would contact his distributor to locate it. Well I did find it elsewhere, a bit pricy but I found it. Well in the meantime, within 15-20 minutes I had missed a call, it was Tony. Coincidentally his distributor came into the shop and he was able to get it. As Tony also wanted to start carrying this sherry at his store. Gave me a great price, would have it the next day and so I agreed. I ordered two bottles and asked if he needed a credit card number to hold them. Tony stated that that was not necessary and they would be at the shop waiting for me and that he would call me when he received them. The next day I was helping family with some household tasks when I received a call. It was Tony calling to let me know it was there and ready to be picked up. I was not able to go right then and there but they were opened until 11pm, so no problem. Went into the shop later that day hoping to meet Tony, but he had left. I was greeted by Tommy and then was assisted by another Tony, both very nice gentlemen. Tony and I spoke about my sherry and also another one they carried. Very knowledgeable person. Overall this was an amazing purchasing experience. In this day and age of crappy customer service, when you have an experience like this you want to let people know. Living in Chicago we yelp experiences like this! I will be patronizing them going forward whenever I am in the Detroit area, as you should too! :-) read more
