I'm really not sure how to review this place. The first time we went, to pick up some wine-making supplies, the man running the store(presumably the owner) was extremely helpful and friendly, and the parrot they keep in the shop was adorable. Since wine and beer making is my boyfriend's thing, not mine, I hung out with Charley the parrot while my boyfriend discussed various ingredients with the guy in charge (GIC). Things were slightly different when I went in a couple days ago. When I walked in, I was greeted by several slack-jawed yokels sitting on a couch staring at me like I had accidentally wandered in to their wake-and-bake. The GIC from before was sitting behind the counter and started to help me (I was picking up a packet of yeast for a wine experiment that Boyfriend wanted to try), but a very unpleasant woman (part of the couch potato group) decided to be "helpful" and proceeded to interrupt and grill me with questions I didn't know the answers to. "WHAT KIND OF BOTTLES ARE YOU USING? ARE YOU PUTTING HOPS IN THERE? YOU'RE GONNA BLOW THE TOP OFF THE WINE BOTTLE IF YOU USE THE 121 YEAST. ALL I GOT IS THE 838. DO YOU WANT THE 838? ALL ALCOHOL NEEDS YEAST." I don't know, lady, but I don't remember asking you any questions, so I don't know why you're comin' at me with this confrontational crap. Of course, I didn't say that - I just bought a packet of champagne yeast and got the heck out of there as fast as I could. Since Wine N Vine is apparently the only beer/wine making supplier in the immediate area, my suggestion is to stay out of there on an early Friday afternoon and you should be all set. read more

If they dont have what you are looking for he get it lots of resources People tried to hate on hydroponic stores but the new age farmer And for self sufficient people , definitely recommend Even teaches you how to make wine If you can put up with the Commentary from the parrot. My review is about like the previous girl's. The guy in charge is one of the most helpful small business owners we've encountered. He's friendly, knowledgeable, and just an all around nice guy. We've learned several helpful brew tricks from him, and we've never had any problems with him. But apparently the lady involved is just a rude and confrontational person all around. My boyfriend was in about a half hour ago to buy some cheese cloth for our current batch of beer. He said when he walked in the door, the lady looked at him and rolled her eyes. When he came up to the counter to pay for his purchase and presented his card (which are accepted and there is no notification of a minimum purchase required), she rolled her eyes again, and in a very rude tone said "you know it costs me more to run your card than to sell what you're buying". He decided to avoid confrontation by throwing on a container of sanitizer to make his purchase worth her while. Needless to say, we're more than disenchanted at this point. I think it might be worthwhile to just drive to Indianapolis to go to Great Fermentations..... Not only are their staff CONSISTENTLY helpful, polite and friendly, they have a larger and better selection to begin with. Before hand, we were able to settle for a smaller selection for convenience's sake because the interaction with the owner was great. Now, we'd rather make an inconvenient trip for actual decent treatment from staff. read more

Ok where to start... I have hardly ever given a 1 star review, but this one was justly earned. It's not because of their ridiculous lack of options, or even their no refund policy. It's not because he buys off brand, never heard of equipment, it's because he tries to push these items like they are all top of the line. I know my gear and equipment, I know what's good and what's trash, I had issues with some purchases and when confronted the guy (with a straight face) tries to tell me these are all top of the line brands. Just because u charge top dollar doesn't mean u are getting top dollar. I will NEVER give this man another red cent of my hard earned money!!! Hopefully he reads this and adds some options to his store and stops stocking his shelves with 1 brand that doesn't deliver. read more
