Mine had layers of Italian meats and cheeses piled high with fresh pesto and sun dried tomatoes on fresh baked bread. My wife's was a meat lovers with aioli. OMG!!! It started to pour rain in the middle of us eating our sandwiches. We didn't care. We sat and ate until we were done. Sad we didn't find this place sooner because we could have gone back every day. You want to an experience of real Italian flavors? GO HERE! GET THE SANDWICHES.

The lobster pasta was cooked perfectly and the lobster itself was amazing. Not overcooked, not too oceany tasting yet freshly caught. The ravioli stuffed with potato and the veal sauce was like a shepherd's pie. I thought it was great! My wife preferred the lobster pasta. We finished the meal with a delizia al limone. It's a lemon sponge cake with a lemon sauce over it. It was good here, but we had better at another restaurant. Overall was a great dining experience. The service was typical of Europe where you don't see wait staff as often so don't be afraid to raise your hand if you need or want something. Seif was an awesome staff member and gave us wonderful advice for our upcoming honeymoon. And he also gave wonderful advice for being newly weds. The ambiance is more upscale looking and feeling. There isn't really a view of anything specific but not every meal needs a view of the Positano cliffs. Highly recommend eating here if you're in Positano.

However, the primary roots of my two out of five stars comes with the attentiveness of the servers and the portion size of the food. The Caprese salad was wonderful, the tomatoes were well seasoned and the buffalo mozzarella was very delicious. The bread that they served was also soft, fluffy, and yummy. Our entrées consisted of pasta, Seabass, and red mullet, after waiting 30 minutes for our entrées we were shocked to behold that not much food was given, and we were left feeling hungrier than when we had arrived. The red mullet fillet was perhaps 1 ounce and came with four individual muscles, enough to satisfy a mouse or perhaps a small Chihuahua. The Seabass fillets were substantial, however, they were paired with two thin slices of zucchini, and four small individual russet potatoes, again enough for a camping portion when you are in the mountains. The pasta was good though! All in all, although the servers were nice, we did have to wait quite some time to be served and to receive the check, the food was good tasting, but the portion sizes diminished the experience and left us hungry. Hungry enough, perhaps, to purchase four full-size pizzas immediately after leaving this establishment. Which we did. Because we were still hungry, and this is not to add to the typical stereotype that Americans eat a ton of food, just the entrées were quite puny and the price point was high enough to set our expectations very high. So I asked a man I met while traveling for some bottles I should bring back. He gave me a few producers as well as a few of his favorite bottles. Vintage and maker. I set out to find a wine shop, not a grocery store. I planned to spend a reasonable amount of money, €30-€50 a bottle. I saw a sign on the main street in quartieri spagnoli that just said "enoteco" I believe. It was brown. It was hot. The streets are steep. I had no cell signal and figured... What the hell. So up I went. And up. And up. And there it was. My Italian is pitiful, limited to basics and things you learn when your grandmother is angry at you. I walked in and the man working the shop greeted me. I asked if he spoke English, he did, very little. I explained I was looking for local wines, the varietals, and that a friend had given suggestions. He pointed out the two specific bottles on my list he had, then I asked him for recommendations on two more. As any good wine monger (my preferred term, don't judge. It makes me smile) should, he asked how much I was looking to spend, and if I liked this or that (or acidic or buttery whites, big structure or more supple reds.). Then he pulled down the bottles and told me I wanted these. I paid him, thanked him, and was on my way, back in the heat with my four bottles procured. Overall, the shop is tight. And packed. And the guy seemed knowledgeable enough. English, for an American with terrible Italian, was quite adequate. I will come here if I'm ever in Napoli again. Only complaint, and it's a small one... He put four 75cl bottles in a single plastic bag. When you are walking, A: that's heavy and a bit unruly. B: the bottles clanked constantly. I'm used to the individual bottles at least having paper to keep them from smashing against each other. I managed, and it was a good experience. Check this place out!

There's a stunning amount of product showcased here, most of which you'll never see in the US. You can find The standard Strega bitter liquor at some specialty liquor stores in the US, but some research may be involved depending on where you live. It would seem the American appetite for herbaceous, bitter liquors just hasn't reached the level required for import distribution. I, however am a huge fan of such things and this store was a playground for me. Aside from the vast array of products, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable and took time to answer all our questions. But what really makes this place special is the free samples. That's not a misprint. Free samples of several lines of Strega liquors including two varieties of Grappa--which I must say were fantastic. If you're unfamiliar with the stuff, here's the perfect opportunity to get acquainted with something new for your alcoholic fix.

So we started with the insalasta formaggio and the insalata prosciutto cotto. These were not memorable but did improve when we started to cut our order of buffalo mozzarella and add it in. The mozzarella was the highlight of the meal. It was warm and so juicy with just the right amount of flavor. My wife ordered the gluten free penne and pesto which was super oily and my wife said immediately this looks old. She had made fresh pesto so I trust her judgment. She did not finish it and it wasn't because she wasn't hungry. I had the tagliatelle pomodoro e provola which was pretty good. If this review was for the mozzarella and my pasta it would be rated higher. So we sat outside because it was a nice day and realized 15 minutes later what a bad idea it was. The street is super busy and really noisy. We ordered wine and the waitress brought us a brandy glass and a martini glass. I get you are trying to be cute with your drinks but I am drinking wine not a sangria or a concoction of some sort. The owner was super nice though and I felt for him. Again if I had gone and ordered the mozzarella and tagliatelle pomodoro e provola the story would be different but unfortunately the story is what it is.
