Fair play to Village Books for trying to diversify Irish readers' tastes. There is a fairly large selection of cards in store, of varying qualities, but definitely something here to suit all tastes. The children's and teenagers' book sections are quite extensive and there is also a considerable selection of fantasy books. Village books has quite an array of children's toys as well, so I imagine this would provide an excellent means of distraction for kids who are dragged here by their desperate-for-a-good-read mothers. Village Books has a pleasant, unassuming atmosphere and browsing is not frowned upon.

From paper to ribbon to tools and advice, they've got it all covered. The one thing I would say that Daintree could improve upon is the range of their other items - such as notebooks, albums, streamers and other such gifty things. Inside row upon row of stuffed animals (mostly bears, but there were some Sesame Street characters) hang from the wall. Big ones, small ones, brown ones, white ones. You name it: it's all in here. I was the only one in the shop who a) wasn't a child or b) wasn't a parent. Kids touched and pointed at the toys they wanted. I saw a cuddly Gund polar bear that reminded me of one that I had as a child. T Bear and Co is a cute shop to go to if you need a teddy for a small child.

I often find TK Maxx shops are really busy and squashed. This one was really quiet when I visited, but more importantly everything was nicely spread out and didn't feel cramped.
