Curly girls look no further!!! The witch marks the spot!! So I went in yesterday to get my hair fixed. I had bought some product that lightened my hair on accident & upset my curly hair. So I gave Jean the opportunity to do whatever it takes to bring it back to life and a deep condition. I actually encouraged her to cut my curly hair short. Which are you curly girls know we rarely do. I'm so glad I went in. Not only was she nurturing to my soul just by us talking and sharing our stories. But she really brought my hair back to life. I then needed my nails done so she connected me on the front end and arranged both my nail appointment at my hair appointment at the same time. So first, let me say that Jean is super nice and I love the decor, sense of community etc. However, the haircut my daughter and I both got were...not good. My bangs were a hack job with very uneven parts, including one random section that was a good 1/4" shorter than the rest. I've never had a haircut where there was no parting, combing or anything else done...she just grabbed the scissors and went to town. My daughters hair was no better--I had to cut it when got home to make it even and essentially re-do the curtain bangs to make it look good. In addition to that, Jean accidentally stabbed my daughter in the leg with scissors during the cut. I would not go back there for a cut but would definitely go for the store, classes and community vibe. read more

Jean is a total goddess queen. My hair looks absolutely amazing. She actually made it look like the picture I brought in- cut and color. The price is unbelievable- less than half what I pay in the states and better than any cut/color I've gotten. Anytime I'm back in PV I'm absolutely going to book an appointment! Usually with curly hair I leave the salon with frizzy hair until it balances itself out over the next week. I messaged through the yelp app for an appointment on Sunday and Jean offered me a Monday appointment but we already had plans made for the time she offered. I walked in Monday early evening after our plans were done and Laura had a nail appointment cancellation so I took it! Laura was AMAZING! She took off my old shellac and repaired a cracked nail for me and a full manicure and reapplied gel. We had a fun conversation! She's very educated and is thorough with her work. She keeps up with the nail trends. The salon is eclectic and has something in every little corner to look at which is fun! Laura thank you again SO much for my beautiful nails! Jean was amazing! Loved my experience here. Was on vacation here for 4 days and due to Covid I grew out my pixie curly hair cut and it was looking like a hot mess and uneven. I reached out to her and that same day she took me in. She literally took less than 20 mins to cut my fro into a perfect rounded shape! Loved my experience at the Witchery! The place is filled with unique decorations, sayings and oddities. Jean, the Owner, is a wealth of local information, sass and good hair styling/coloring skills. I went in for a haircut, color and highlights. The highlights were a little off, not because of Jean but because I chose an off color. Jean was more than willing to make the color right. She really does her best to make sure her clients are happy. My friend also got her hair cut and had some blue stripes added to her hair. It came out beautifully. Did I mention the pricing? Very, very reasonable. Regarding Covid protocols...The front door is wide open and Jean runs a fan to keep the air circulating. When I was in for services, she had only myself and one other person in the shop. Face masks were worn and hand sanitizer available. I plan to visit Jean every year while in Puerto Vallarta. It's always an adventure to be pampered at The Witchery! The neighborhood first: very mom and pop: not a Starbucks or high-rise for blocks! Colonia 5 de mayo is like stylist / owner Jean herself: unique, fun and welcoming. What would I want in this hood. it's got it! It's walkable from my hood, there's a supermercado, Ley, there's a bar with live music, Captain Don's, there are biker neighbors fixing and chopping (I guess...) anything on wheels, and there are locals living pretty much how. they please. Oh, and there's beach, too. Inside the salon there's magic a brewing: so many tchotkes abound. Where's a girl to put her brewski? There are charming chacharas from floor to ceiling. Jean's style sense ((and how she'll work it on you!) is genius and genuine. Can't review the resident artist without mentioning Perla, Jean's Chihuahua, who, ahem, has been known to sport a Harley-Davidson puppy jacket from time to time. The salon is not complete without the presence of gentle nail specialist, Laura, and whenever I'm at Witchery, between 11-20 of Jean's friends drop by just because. Nobody does that in LA. this place was great, i was a little skeptical when i first got there, the place was crazy crowded with random stuff and a non customer or staff person was using the chair i was supposed to be in which was a little wierd, but by the time i left i felt like one of the girls, had an amazing hair style that actually held its curl all day(this has never happened to me before, my hair wilts in canada, let alone in mexicos humidity!) and was extremely reasonably prices by canadian standards. i have paid MUCH more for much less and am super happy! dont go in expecting american style service, and you will totally love it!! read more
