Went to The Woodlawn for their Juneteenth celebration. My friends and I brought the rooftop experience package for 6 individuals, which was close to $100 pp and we were treated unfairly. This was a prepaid event. They had different time slots and ours was 7pm-10pm. We arrived between 7:15-30pm. There was no section available for us, as that was apart of our package. When they attempted to provide us with seating they had to "create" a section and we were given fold up chairs. That was very embarrassing, especially given the other two groups who had sections had nice lawn and party seating/table. They fixed it; they moved another party to accommodate us which caused more friction. The package also included small bites, a bottle of liquor, drinks mixes, open bar, drinking ware and ice. Our drinking ware was styrofoam cups!! STYROFOAM CUPS!! They didn't even inform us that would be the case. The open bar had only two drink selections and there was barely anyone tending to the bar, the small bites weren't received until the end of the night about 9:45pm. We did ask about small bites a few times throughout the night to be told "They're coming". Seems as if the only thing that was right about that night and function was that they ended the event on time at 10pm!! On the DOT! None of my party was happy and have expressed that they do not desire to go back. Very unfortunate, place has potential but currently the service is TERRIBLE!

We enjoyed having my son and daughter in law baby shower and our one year business anniversary. Very clean and the team at the Woodlawn did a great job making sure we had everything in place.

Came here for a pop up Sunday brunch with Chef Michael Phillips! Food was delicious and staff was friendly. Could definitely be more organized with silverware being on the table, etc. I would return here!

Stopped in for coffee and do some work. Had a terrific breakfast burrito. Nice place have to stop in more often.

Just OK. The best part of Jimmy's is the plentiful seating. Great for gatherings and the closest…read morebar to the University of Chicago. The service was a little disorganized, but we also came on a Thursday evening so they may have been short-staffed. Cash only, but there is an ATM. Average price and average food. The cauliflower appetizer had tremendous flavor and was also artistically plated. Delish'! Our other app, deviled eggs, were, well, deviled eggs that reminded me of many a church basement. But, it too had an artistic delivery to it. The étouffée was tasty and nicely prepared w grilled (not boiled) shrimp. It's a lovely atmosphere and not overly noisy for how many people it holds. If I were to make any complaint it is that the overhead lights are turned on fully & brightly at 10 pm. Not a gentle increase over a few minutes but an immediate, full-on "get out, go home, leave NOW" feeling. Considering the prices and the otherwise wonderful evening, not cool. What gives Mesler? :-( All in all, a fun experience with tasty food. Don't not go, there is lots to like, but be sure you are done & gone by 9:58. Sincerely, Patrick Shaughnessy Chicago, IL

First, the place is beautiful. It is elegantly decorated. The bar is the focal point and it does not disappoint. The staff are well trained in professionalism. However, there was only one waiter at the time I visited and the hostess let us know that the kitchen was closing soon when she sat us, but it took so long for the waiter to show up that we were down to just a few minutes before the kitchen closed. My drink came out and the waiter left, but after tasting the drink, it wasn't as I desired. Someone else bought my salad out, the Cobb Salad. The bacon on the salad was very undercooked, I have requested an extra side of salad dressing which I did not receive, and the lettuce was low quality. The french fries were well seasoned, but were limp and soft. I sat for a good 10 to 15 minutes waiting for our waiter to return so my drink could be corrected and I could get my extra salad dressing. I didn't bother mentioning the undercooked bacon or the soggy fries because I knew the kitchen was closed at that point. I had to yell across the restaurant to get his attention because he never came back to check on us. I thought the salad was overpriced for the quality of it. The drink was okay once I added what was needed. I hope when I return, I have a better experience and like my dish better.
