Second time at New Archview Restaurant: The Chicago Room. First visit was kinda hit or miss so we gave it another shot. Just a simple dinner stop with dinner vibes. The people working there were really nice though, checked in on us, made sure we were good but didn't hover or anything. I ordered the classic benedict. Two poached eggs on an English muffin with hashbrowns and hollandaise sauce. Man... it was really good. Yolks were still runny, mixed with the sauce and with a tiny bit of ketchup, the flavor just popped. But the one thing that i couldn't ignore was that the eggs were drenched in hollandaise sauce. I'm not exaggerating, but like seriously drenched. Half the plate was basically sauce. I'm not complaining tho because I actually love hollandaise sauce, so it worked for me. but wow. I'll be definitely be coming back. Just might say to go easy on the sauce next time. read more

Visited today with the family and absolutely loved it! Their breakfast is delicious -- I ordered the Green Chilaquiles with Cecina meat, and it was outstanding. We also tried the Garage Omelette, which was just as good. To top it off, we finished with the Banana Cheesecake Streusel Crepes -- wow, those were the best crepes I've had in a long time! The portions are very generous, and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service was great -- our server was super helpful and sweet, and the owners are very nice and welcoming. Decided 2 try this spot for the 2nd time ever. I was going 2 eat lunch elsewhere but wanted breakfast. I should have followed my 1st plan. Upon entering it's a combo of old school vs new school decor but clean though. A female server said 2 sit wherever I like. I chose the corner booth. The greeter was also my server, Frida. She was pleasant. Took the drink order and returned with my coffee and guest's orange juice. I ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of egg whites. My guest ordered eggs w/potatoes and toast. Food was decent, nothing spectacular. When the bill came is when the sticker shock happened. $5 for 2 eggs, then an additional $4 to make them egg whites, $9 total for 2 eggs? A carton of eggs is now $2.50 at a local store. The orange juice which they claim is freshly squeezed(?????????) was $10? I asked the cashier if the prices were correct and she brought over the manager who said they were. Told him no wonder why I stayed away from here. Sub par, expensive food for $66 dollars?? My 2nd and last time going here. I can go 2 other spots and have 2 containers full of leftovers versus here. read more

Must be new owners, I was used to the dark dining room and it's bright and well lit. I paid $10 for a cup of orange juice, I could have bought a bottle of orange juice from jewels. Breakfast for 2 cost me $60, I think it would have been cheaper down the street at Huck Finn. Thinking back, I should have gone there. I love their apple fritters. Haven't been here in years. Under new management therefore the name New Archview. The place looks brighter and had some remodeling done. There's a bar counter in the center of the place and you can see it right when you walk in. There is a lot of Mexican options on the menu. So I had the huervos rancheros with poached eggs and crispy hash browns. My bf had a Denver omelette with hash browns and mini pancakes. The sauce for the huervos rancheros was dark and looked good with the poached eggs. However they put so much onions in it that every bite seemed to have quite a bit of onions. Too much I thought. It had a nice spice taste but wish I had extra tostada to dip into the sauce. Would've been better if the tostadas were on the side. The hash browns were not fresh. They came out soggy and it crispy and overcooked. The Denver omelette was requested not to be overcooked. The waitress said it wouldn't be and would be fluffy. Boy was she wrong. The hash browns were the same, not fresh. Seemed it was cooked once and left on the side for warming. Not sure how long these new owners have been there, but could use some more work on the dishes we tried. Not sure if it's a place to go back too again anytime soon. I visited New Archview for brunch last month and was impressed by the menu. It's extensive and they have a lot of delicious breakfast and lunch items. I was told that this is a Greek restaurant but they had a lot of Mexican dishes on the menu. I've never had chilaquiles before and wanted to try it. I got mine with steak and lucked out with my order because not only was it a generously sized portion but it was very tasty. The steak was cooked just right and the season was perfect. Although the chips were doused in sauce, they stayed crispy and had great flavor. I had plenty to take home and had an additional meal and a half afterwards. My friend got a strawberry salmon salad and a side of red pozole. Like my meal, that too was a gigantic size portion and savory. Prices are steep (my entrée cost $30) but size and quality make up for it. There's an ample parking lot behind the restaurant and on weekends it can get busy. The food is easily a 5 for food quality and size but there are two things that brought this down. Aside from cost, the only other not so great thing we encountered was the lack of service from our waitress. She came by to take our order and place our food down. Not sure if she was busy but my friend and I noticed the place wasn't at full capacity. We had to flag down busboys and other servers to get us extra water, coffee, to go bags, and the check when we were ready to pay. read more

Great late night experience here recently! We walked in well after midnight on a wknd and they were so welcoming, and even had the PPV fight event on the TVs! We sat at the bar and Andy took great care of us! Recommend the spicy garlic shrimp appetizer, wings and the steak/eggs with pancakes. I ordered a cocktail slightly off menu (coconut mojito) and it was delicious. Will have to check out brunch some Sunday, during which we heard Andy also plays piano! Noticed some other tantalizing options on the menu such as a Monte Cristo sandwich and some seafood that I'd definitely like to come back. Will check hours first tho! This place is as good as I remember it a couple years back. I haven't been here since they renovated it, and I am loving the bright look. This is definitely a Chicago staple, such a classic dinner. Decided to go in to get brunch one Sunday since it wasn't as busy. They had redesigned the restaurant and changed up the menu. The food was good. The waiters did have more attention to detail than the last time I was here before the renovation. Prior to the renovation, I had a waitress give us a used butter with our rolls. So the wait staff is definitely better now. The decor is very bright now which is nice because it always looked a little run down inside before. We got the hungry man's platter and a meat/veggie skillet. It was good and hit the spot. One negative was that I got a Diet Coke and it tasted like I was drinking something smokey. Came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. It was busy, but there was no wait for 2 people. It's a cozier version of an IHOP with a full bar. Service was good and everything came out quick. Pancakes, sausage, and eggs were all good. I also got regular and chocolate cannolis. They weren't my favorite, a little dry and flavorless 2/5 stars for the cannoli, but 4/5 for the breakfast. I don't know where to start. I went there last night with some friends for dinner. The restaurant looks really nice since the remodel. We all ordered our food and drinks. There was like only 4 tables with customers in the restaurant. The waiter was awesome he also doubled as the bartender. My stepbrother ordered some appetizers. They came out in 10 minutes are so. Then he made our drinks for us. I had the lemonade long island iced tea. To be honest I had better drinks at other places. Also, it was a $13 dollar drink so its left to be desired. So about 25 minutes later he brings out our soups to us. SMH They were all lukewarm. I was like SMH my friend sent it back and had him put it the microwave. I ordered a patty melt well done. My friend ordered a hamburger medium rare. I don't know what happened I got the medium rare meat, and my friend got the well-done burger. So I sent it back..... The food was ok to be honest for the prices they charge for everything I would expect better service and food. I hope the owner sees this review and understands this restaurant is in Mickinley Park NOT Lincoln Park or Lakeview. The prices they charge for everything the food and drinks should be top notch. To be clear I'm not being cheap I just expect better food and drinks if I am paying top dollar. As we left we are driving down Archer ave and went past Huck Finns they place was packed. Adding a lot of salt helped a great deal, but I wish the seasoning had been incorporated during the cooking. None of the others in my party were blown away by their dishes either. The prices are fair but not a 'deal' as you would expect from a just okay diner. I probably wouldn't return unless I was in the area and other nearby breakfast locations were closed. read more
