Oh wow! So this is what real blues music sounds like! And who knew my mom would become such a fan?…read moreOverall an experience like no other. Down to earth, no frills attached, and located in a so-so neighborhood, this could be a place that has you raising your eyebrows doubtfully. Cast those aside, and sit yourself down for some of the best music this side of the river. Crowd is dressed up but chill, and everyone is clearly enjoying themselves. We were the only brown people in the joint, but didn't feel the least bit uncomfortable. If anything, Lee's is welcoming - everyone seems to know everyone else, and with all the hugs and hellos, it really seems like a party. Oh, and there's no cover or drink minimum! Hello people, how's that for a true steal?

Since someone beat me to getting a first review I'd kept meaning to post for ages(for Windy City…read moreInn), I might as well get this review over with, and get my 1st ever 'Chicago first' review over with and do one for here, before someone else beats me to posting a review for Lee's. I went on the Chicago Jazz Club Tour back in August(also the same night I later went to Huck Finn Donuts, to finish off this night), and concentrated on going to the South Side clubs, during that night. I went to 3 out of the 4 far South Side clubs participating on the Jazz Club tour(in addition to other jazz clubs north of here in the city), and of those 3, this was definately my favorite of the 3 I went to. Music was great, and the only downside about this place was that the interior is slightly cramped. Of course too, I also know that was probably somewhat b/c of the fact that so many people on the Jazz Tour came in, at the same time that my dad and myself stopped in here. Anyway though, I'm hopeful I can do a return trip here sooner, rather than later. Not to mention, the location of Lee's isn't in as iffy of an area, as the other 2 south side jazz clubs I went into were in. Plus, it helps that it's easy to heck to park on the street around here, and that there's a White Castle just southeast of here, if I ever make it back down here again, and have a jonesing for a late night snack.

Hey fellow Yelpers! This was me and my boyfriend's first time going to The Venue at Horseshoe…read moreCasino, but we've been to the casino once. We didn't know what to expect, but we were both excited to go to a new venue since this was our first ever rock concert. We went to see Dokken and it was awesome! Atmosphere: Some of the other reviews mentioned it was hard to find The Venue.e and my boyfriend didn't find it hard at all to find it. If you pay attention to the signs, it tells you where it's at. One thing I heavily disliked about going through the casino just to get to The Venue was the smell of pure cigarettes. I do not smoke at all and it was not an appealing smell at all. I wish they had a separate entrance that leads directly to The Venue without having to go through the casino smelling all of that. Layout: The layout of the venue was decent. I bought me and my boyfriend floor seats and we were the 2nd row from the stage. The view was nice for the price. I thought it was interesting that some people kept leaving their seats just to get closer to the stage. I kept asking myself why don't they just purchase floor seats, but the security kept telling them to go back to their seats which I appreciated. Food/Drink Items: There was an okay selection of beverages (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) as well as light snacks. I'm not a drinker, so I just got a water bottle. They only had mini bottle waters and it was $2. I wish they had a bigger bottled waters. The mini bottled water reminded me of the 8 oz Kirkland one from Costco. It probably was and ended up putting the casino's name on it. Overall Experience: Overall, me and my boyfriend had a great experience with the concert at this venue. It's a tad smaller than other ones we've been too, but it also wasn't crazy crowded or sold out which worked out for us. I hope this review helps The Venue at Horseshoe Casino & its current and future customers. Have an amazing day!

It's…read morehard to tell we are attending a 'party' on a college campus, as there's no silly pranks or screeching co-eds! The Midway Plaisance is actually NOT quite completely owned by the University, which is probably why this is able to be here. On Midway P, you are literally in the the middle of the street, with long, gorgeous soccer fields around you. There are 2 stages, going east and west, with great acoustics (ok I'm not an expert). There are food trucks and beverages, but you can bring your own; same with chairs too. It starts early afternoon and goes until 9 or 10 at night, but it is NOT wall to wall music, as there are other venues (indoor) that need attention too. The artists may be up and comers or veterans, maybe not whom you would see in Jazz Review. Note: The big bands are on the outside stages, whereas the the 'small' groups (trios, quartets, soloists) are in the small indoor areas (churches, art centers at the U of C, even Hyde Park Bank!). There are shuttle buses that can take you to vendors, and a down and upsides are that one can't stay in the same venue for too long. On a nice day when strolling is fun, with NO limited mobility, that's a good activity. The downside to late Sept/early fall is cool weather, rain and HORNETS!
