Grimm's Bluff is stunning with so many fantastic sites to paint. Art Spot chose their private lake with the mountains and a bit of Cachuma Lake (Cristi joked about it being a unique painting in the vineyard experience to not actually paint vines!). Stunning scene. But before we proceeded to our painting location, we enjoyed sampling a bit of rose and estate sage honey and olive oil, with a little primer about Grimm's Bluff. I had persuaded a friend to join and had told her that I had done a watercolor class at Kaena, where the scene was penciled in and we were instructed on how to mix paints and water and layer in the paint, but it was easy and fun - almost like a paint by numbers with a good glass of wine. So when we got to our painting spot, I was surprised and somewhat intimidated to see completely blank canvases on easels with a few globs of acrylic paint! But Cristi is a great instructor and leader, and made the experience so fun and comfortable (the liquid courage from Grimm's Bluff didn't hurt, either). She gave us detailed tips on color mixing, which brushes to use, and how to just jump in and start. She had an easel up front and led the way, showing us on her canvas what to do. It was a blast and each one of us produced surprisingly passable if not beautiful little canvases - each unique in its own way. I highly recommend Art Spot. I have zero training or natural ability but with Cristi's guidance, now have two cute little paintings (including my Kaena watercolor). There is no reason to be fearful or intimidated- Cristi makes it so anyone can pick up a brush and release their secret inner artist. It is a lovely activity to do with friends on a gorgeous SYV day.

In 13 years of celebrating 3 children birthdays yearly, this was one of the best Birthday parties we have experienced. Karen planned out every detail to perfection, the house was inviting and decorated, the tea party room looked absolutely amazing! The table was laid out with pretty tea cups and saucers and fairy creamers and daisy teapots and dainty figurines. It was truly special. She even incorporated my daughters favorite color and theme into the party. The girls got to choose fancy hats and feathery boas, there was dancing and singing and celebrating, It was all so enchanting! There is a big focus on outside play and creative arts/crafts and cooking (pre-Covid) that our eldest son really enjoyed and thrived within to include weekly art and dance classes for the kids. The teachers really encourage independence and creativity within the confines of a group setting of children that really learn the important early lessons of respect and appreciation for one another. Our oldest son was wonderfully prepared and ahead of kids at the Kindergarten level entering pre-K and knew how to read/write his name, count and do simple math in this program that carved out a "K-class" for the older elementary school transitioning kids. Donna, Daniel, Laurel and Lindsey are wonderful teachers and I would HIGHLY recommend this program for any parent looking for well rounded loving learning environment for their little.

He also spent 3 days at Child's Play. In one of those days, our son wanted to go outside. He repeatedly asked but he was not permitted to step outside. His frustration grew and grew. I feel that if someone or anyone had taken the time to explain or just sit with him that this would have never happened. Perhaps they were too busy?? Maybe they did not notice?? She also said he was on the spectrum?? It turns out that he was just low in English (he is bilingual) and is in fact, suffers from a bit of Einstein's Syndrome!! After a fun filled three days, we quickly got him out of there!

We replied with respect and agreed to reschedule a tour after a week , of course it wasn't easy for us cause we had to do changes. When we arrived at the preschool , couldn't find the entrance it was so quiet , no sign of any children's activities. So , we run late honestly maybe 4 minutes . we called someone pick up , said the kids are asleep now .. i wonderEd why the gave is a tour at this hour then ? except if the tour last for 5 minutes.. Then ,until the principal comes downstairs, there was an old lady with a man in a car ready to go , when they saw us they went out of the car and asked us if we are the ones who having a tour , they didn't even introduced them selves but first thung and very aggressively , front of our little girl who no one gave a damn to say Goodmorning to her and smile to the child for gods shake , started to point for the late arrival of ours . i had no idea until the principal comes out and give us , first thing , the price list and again no one greeted the little one * that this woman who she was so rude to us , was a teacher there .. Never spoke with her prior, also she was about to live with her car but she stopped in order to offend us ?Jesus! Even with the years of working with wine I was surprised how much I didn't know. Disney provided many months of weekly classes and then two days with the Masters which included more training and then the test. There was a lot of studying and tasting required to pass the test. I had hundreds of note cards and read the Sotheby's Wine Encyclopedia from cover to cover and more notes. The Masters are a bit intimidating and I think they like it that way. When you stand up to describe a wine you have to say, "Masters and Fellow Students" before you give your description and when you fail they let you know it. So every time it comes to your turn you sweat, your voice gets shaky and you do a little praying too. It sounds harsh but the Court of Master Sommeliers is the best in the country. They are the Masters that work at the wine distributors, hotels, and the best restaurants. I no longer work at my Mickey Mouse job...or even in the F&B industry but I am glad that I had the opportunity to be humbled by the Masters.
