Christi's painting that she did in real time with us. This was a custom ask and we had a lot of fun making it!

I can't recommend a class with Christi more. I was planning a friend's bachelorette party in Santa Barbara and Christi made it super easy to pick a time and outdoor location where we could set up. She even let me pick something unique to paint for our bride-to-be's interests: a taco and margarita in a beach setting. ;) She made it so much fun to follow along, and even those ours of course weren't as nice looking as hers, we had an absolute blast. A wonderful way to spend an afternoon!

Want to make a memory to last a lifetime?? March over to Gypsy Studios website and reserve a Fabulous afternoon painting at the Kenneth Volk vineyard. It all begins treating your palate with an array of aromatic wines. Then pair that with the artistic talent of Christi our professional artist. Throw in the attentive touches by Heidi and you will transcend into a blissful experience. My daughter and I kicked off our Mother's Day weekend with this dynamic duo and came home with a masterpiece and some new great friends. #youwillbegladyoucame!!

My husband and I did this as part of our anniversary and it was so much fun! Our paintings were so much different and we really enjoyed seeing how we each perceived the scenery. Christi is the best teacher we could have had. She was very encouraging and patient with us as well as the whole group. We can't wait to catch another class!

This was such a fun day. Beautiful scenery, lovely people and the teacher was enthusiastic, encouraging and helpful. I hope to do this again!

Seriously, a "must do" experience when in the region. Wonderful afternoon of painting, great wine and tons of laughs! This was a perfect birthday present! Christi and Heidi were so helpful that even our first ever painting efforts turned out beautiful enough to frame and put in our home...

In the heart of beautiful Solvang, the winery has picturesque grounds that are nothing short of breathtaking. The views of rolling vineyards especially during sunset provide the perfect backdrop for a relaxing day out. Whether you're sipping wine inside or strolling through the grounds, the scenery alone makes this place worth a visit. Speaking of wine, the selection here is top-notch. We tried the Signature tastings and ended up leaving with 3 bottles. Every glass was a delight and Scherina was so kind and knowledgeable. The wine is clearly crafted with care, and the staff is more than happy to help you find the perfect pairing to suit your tastes. But what really took this experience to the next level was the food! The lobster roll was out of this world, fresh, flavorful, and packed with lobster that had just the right amount of seasoning. If you're in the mood for something a bit more casual, the smash burger is a must-try. It's juicy, perfectly cooked, and served with a side and a side of chips. It went well with a red blend. The live music added to the overall vibe, creating a laid-back and fun atmosphere. It felt like the perfect soundtrack for an afternoon of good wine, great food, and fantastic company. All in all, Rideau Winery is a must-visit destination for anyone who enjoys great wine, delicious food, and an unforgettable atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned wine connoisseur or just looking for a relaxing place to spend the day, you won't be disappointed. I can't wait to come back!

When I called to modify my reservation a week prior to our visit and add additional guests, the staff member I spoke with was rude, sounded annoyed by my questions, and ended the call abruptly without even saying goodbye. Looking back, I should have taken that as a warning of what was to come. When we arrived for our 11:00 a.m. reservation, the host stand staff were not welcoming or friendly. I was informed that because of the size of our party (12 people), two tables could be pushed together, but we would be charged an additional $50. This had never been communicated to me during my phone call. Had I known there would be an extra charge simply to accommodate the size of our group, I would not have proceeded with the reservation. I then asked if our group could be seated at two separate tables, but was told no because the tables were in different server sections. There was no effort to offer alternatives or find a solution. The interaction felt very transactional and unaccommodating. What made this even more frustrating was that the winery was not busy. In fact, we were told it was "graduation season" and a slower weekend, so the lack of flexibility was surprising. Eventually, I suggested that we sit at one table and have a few people stand. As it turned out, the table was actually large enough for our entire group, which left me confused as to why the additional table and fee had been suggested in the first place. As we were being seated, we were informed that because of our group size, we would be doing bottle service and would not be permitted to participate in wine tastings. This was another policy that had never been mentioned when I modified my reservation. Since this was our first visit to the area, wine tasting was the primary reason we chose to visit Sunstone. At that point, we were seriously considering leaving altogether. The hosts repeatedly asked who I had spoken with on the phone, which I couldn't remember. I explained that I wasn't blaming the individual helping us at that moment, but I was disappointed that important details regarding fees and tasting restrictions had never been communicated. Thankfully, Aaron stepped in. He interrupted the conversation and offered to accommodate our group with tastings. Aaron completely changed the trajectory of our visit. He was kind, professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in making sure we had a great experience. Thanks to him, we stayed, enjoyed the wines, and ended up purchasing more than 20 bottles. The wine was great, and Aaron was exceptional. Unfortunately, the rest of our experience with the staff left a lasting impression. Customer service starts long before the wine is poured, and every interaction before Aaron felt dismissive and unfriendly. The only reason I'm giving more than one star is because of Aaron. Without him, we would have left before ever tasting the wine.

It was the first of five tastings we did during our weekend in town, and the wines were, admittedly, the least impressive. They went down easy, though, and we had a pleasant visit. We checked into our hotel on Friday around 5:30 and quickly realized that all the wineries on our list were closed. We asked the receptionist where we might be able to do a tasting, and she said Carhartt was our best bet. It was quite open when we walked in, almost intimidatingly so, the live music loud as we rounded the sidewalk outside the enclosed patio. Jack welcomed us into the tasting room and suggested we do a vibe check on the patio before deciding where to sit. We peeked outside and it seemed fun in a way we weren't looking for, a bit of a party atmosphere with a live band and a lot of people. We took our seats in the quieter tasting room, where we were able to enjoy the music from a distance while we drank some wine. We both did the house tasting, which came with five pours of Carhartt wines: the 2024 Top Branch, the 2022 Sin Nada, the 2022 Sangiovese, the 2022 Rebel Roan, and the 2020 Northerly. Jack also gave us a taste of the 2021 Graciano. They were all nice wines, but we particularly liked the Sin Nada, the Sangiovese, and the Graciano, and took home two bottles of each, getting one $25 tasting fee waived with each purchase of three bottles. Jack was a great host, and he told us all about the wines and winery as we went along. (He pre-empted our first question, saying that yes, they were the same Carhartts as the Carhartt clothing label, but not the same company. I guess just the classic generational wealth to winemaking pipeline.) It was a helpful introduction to both the Carhartt wines and Los Olivos, and Jack was good company. I said Carhartt was the least impressive of the wineries we visited, but it's also worth noting that it had the lowest price point. Carhartt isn't gunning for Robert Parker ratings. The wines are accessible and tasty, and I have a feeling we'll go through our bottles very fast.
