Shop is great. lots of everything to choose from. Was there 3 times in one week. Service from lady who owns shop was okay but she acted like she was too busy for the questions I had and I was glad to pay and leave. The next time the same impression. The third time, a man waited on me. He came across again, as though he was too busy to bother with me. He was not pleasant. I found him short and rude in his mannerisms. I was visiting from Oregon and this shop was only place close for what I was looking for, otherwise I would not have returned 2nd and 3rd time. When I return to that area again, I will make sure I bring all the quilting tools I need and avoid the shop entirely. read more

The two people working, who were apparently the parents of the owner, were very rude. They were helping out while the daughter was out of the shop. They helped me find what I needed, but I watched them be very rude and unhelpful to a woman coming in needing help finding sewing supplies for her daughter. They turned her away saying that they were too busy to help her and that they had too many events coming to assist her later in the day or at all. She left upset and then they talked about her after she left. They were also rude to my mother who was trying to care for my son while I looked at fabric. If you plan on going there, do not bring your children, as they are absolutely not welcome there. I will never go back to creation station and will not refer anyone I know to go there either. read more

This shop is awesome, as are all the people who work here. The owners are really passionate about their work, and it shows. They have pretty much everything you need in this giant shop, and they will help you find it fast too. I love that its just minutes away so I don't have to drive to Santa Maria for fabrics, or supplies. I don't quilt but if I did, I would spend a lot more time here, it is really geared towards quilters. I do however craft in all other ways and I find everything I need in the store. Embroidery supplies, sewing supplies (I make a lot of baby items), felts, even some knitting and crocheting, but not much in the way of yarns. They have top quality cottons and fabrics, with really cute and modern patterns. My favorite thing about the shop is that they have a lot of unique examples of crafts so you can really be inspired. The Creation Station Fabric and Quilt Shop is a must stop for everyone. This is an AMAZING place that goes WAY beyond a fabric store and is a must see. The quilts are displayed among antique beds, cribs, and furniture. There are ladders hanging from the ceiling, and there is a huge collections of sprinklers. The walls are fashioned after country rooms with antique appliances that belong to grandma! Sometimes there is a line for the bathroom, because people have to see it! I cannot say enough about this sweet shop. It is a perfect combination of contrasts; modern fabric, projects, and supplies mixed with vintage kitch. This shop is overflowing with whimsical fun and creativity! Everywhere you look are special creative touches and ideas. The staff was so nice and accommodating that it felt like we were talking with friends. We just wanted to stay and hang out with them. You just can't help but be inspired by all the samples, displays and special touches. An example are the bags that are used for purchases. They are made from vintage quilt magazine pages that have been transferred onto plastic sheets and sewn together on a sewing machine! Smaller items are tucked into old pattern envelopes! It's these special little touches that make it the most charming shopping experience. I highly recommend making a trek to see this gem of a shop. read more

I just want to add my two cents worth on the fabulous fabric - craft store in Buellton. I recently moved down this way from the Bay Area and have to find a new place to spend my money for such stuff. I was going to do a t-shirt quilt so I went up to the store and bought some amazing stabilizer that Dana recommended. Once I had the quilt completed I took it back up there to have it quilted on the longarm. Turned it in on December 30th, they called on January 2nd that it was ready for pickup! So fast I could not get up there soon enough to see it. They did a fantastic job and allowed me to use the big table in the backroom to trim it up thus saving me the back breaking task of doing it on my dining room table. The quilt looks great and I will be bringing others to them to quilt after I buy more fabric. read more

Their selection of fabric and patterns is mediocre at best, although the way they have some of their items displayed is cute and quirky. Although I don't understand the store's policy that the minimum amount of fabric you can purchase is 1/2 yard, what really irked me was the fact that that policy wasn't posted anywhere in the shop. I travel extensively throughout North America and make it a point to visit quilt shops wherever I am and I've never come across this type of store policy! If the owners of Creation Station feel it's OK to blind side customers like that, this is not a store that I'll do business with so I'll not be darkening the doors of this store again! read more

This shop has "Brown Bag Quilt Retreats" just about every month that are a blast! Everyone brings their own project to work on, their own sewing machine and accessories, but if you get stuck on something, there is always a quilter handy who will help you out. The retreats start Friday morning at 8:00AM and go until Sunday afternoon at 3:00. Some people stay late into the night, while others arrive early in the morning, sometimes overlapping! With a full service quilt shop next door, it's easy to pick up last minute items. The owners, an energetic young couple, make sure that the retreat attendees have everything they need for a rewarding weekend. I highly recommend the Brown Bag retreats! read more

I visit The Creation Station whenever I am RVing in Buellton. Last week they were having a huge sale. I went in on Saturday and bought quite a bit of fabric and some kits. When I was back home cutting it, I noticed I was short 1/4 yard of one of the fabrics. I called up there and they not only apologized for the error, but said they would be sending it to me at no charge. What fantastic customer service! I love their selection of trailer and RV prints, kits and pin cushions. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. One day I hope to make one of their retreat dates. The people here are amazing. My husband went in looking for a referral to a place where he could get some zippers replaced on some couch cushion covers and the next thing he knew he was helping to remove the old zippers and they replaced them while he waited. Providing sewing services for hire is not something they normally do, but it did not stop them. Paula did a fantastic job! Christine and Dawn were very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Even being a writer I don't think I can come up with enough good words to tell you about Creation Station! They are the best fabric shop around here. I make the drive even if I don't really need anything just to be inspired by the selection and service offered here. The owners are fun and hip, yet grounded in quilt lore and vintage clothing knowledge! The shop is bright and neat with tons of yummy fabric to purchase. The staff is very very nice and helpful and always ask about your project (cause who doesn't like talking about their projects) and they remember you, maybe not by name, but by face and ask questions etc. I adore Creation Station! read more
