I went to the works the other day and was greeted by a very rude employee, her name is Sage. She is very unpersonable and lacks the skills to be working in a place like that. I really have enjoyed this place so far this year, I'm a new customer and everything I've ordered has been awesome, I like how the staff always lets me add things to my sandwich and make it my own. one thing I didn't realize is they have their own special cream cheeses which is great because bacon jalapeno is a lot more exciting than plain cream cheese! (they even let you put it on a breakfast sandwich which is sweet.) But overall I'd say the bagels are the real reason I come here cuz honestly I'm so sick of crappy bagels from the supermarket and other places in town. read more

I sincerely wish the Bagelry hadn't sold out to this mediocre corporation. This place has lost the flavor of the Bagelry in more ways than one. Yes, they have bagels and coffee and sandwiches, but that's about it. The customer service is very poor. I concur with another reviewer who said the staff seems unhappy. Surly is a word that comes to mind to describe not all, but a majority of the staff I've dealt with in my infrequent visits. I thought I'd give this place *one more chance*, and have decided never to give them my patronage again. I went in on a Sunday at noon, to pick up some bagels and cream cheese to go. There were about six customers already seated with their food, and no one at the counter when I walked in. The counter guy was wiping sweat off his brow, did not smile, and when I asked about getting a small cup of cream cheese, was told that was only available if I got a toasted bagel. I suggested that he just charge me for a toasted bagel, so I could get the small cup, instead of the larger container. Nope, gotta get a toasted bagel if you want the small cup. Wow. I said fine, I'm all set. Went to get my coffee, and he said 'sorry' but at that point I just wanted to get my mediocre somewhat stale bagels and go home. I ended up getting some cream cheese at the grocery store and made my own dang veggie spread. This poor review stems from all the dissapointing experiences I've had there since the switch. The cream cheese portions are skimpy- if you buy a container, there's lots of air space, and when I bought a toasted bagel with veggie spread, there was barely enough to spread onto both sides of the bagel. I used to be a frequent flyer at this place but since I've been back at school this year, I've had nothing but awful experiences. I went for breakfast today and ordered a toasted everything bagel with avocado and spinach. After a 25 minute wait for a BAGEL, I received an untoasted bagel with no avocado. My friend waited 40 minutes for a sandwich, which also came out not as she had ordered it and no one in the store seemed willing to fix our orders. This was probably one of the worst experiences I've had at any restaurant. The previous time I was here, I had ordered a salad and they forgot the dressing. This place has really went downhill and they will no longer have my service. It's a shame, it used to be somewhere I loved to eat but without being able to trust they will correctly complete my order, and the poor customer services I will not give another dollar to this awful industry. read more

Was very happy with our no-meat Western omelet bagel sandwiches! They warned me that they may be messy to eat on a bagel but they were great. The eggs were soft and the veggies almost crisp. This morning I stopped in at The Works (Durham NH) for coffee and food. I parked in the lot that is open to customers. I was at The Works for about 20 min and walked no where else. My car was booted. The lot policies are that you have to be shopping at one of the businesses to park there, I clearly was. I had to show a recite to get my boot taken off (I was holding a The Works coffee cup in my hand). I want to make clear The Work DOES NOT OWN THE LOT. My experiences with The Works employees have always been FANTASTIC. The employees were great about looking up my order and providing me with a recite (i had initially checked "no recite") but if this is the song and dance I have to go through every time I visit this location then I'm not sure it is worth it, for any of the shops off of this lot. I hope they can get this relationship figured out. I would love to come back, but don't think it is worth it while this is how the parking lot operates. read more

At least The Works has free wifi---on half of the floor (the half without a single outlet). I've been a semi-regular customer here since it (unfortunately) bought out The Bagelry. The only thing that keeps me coming back is its quick and easy location to campus and my dire hope that management will turn this place around. No luck yet. Management, for one, remains horrible. The manager continues to bad mouth customers, employees and is NEVER helping out with any sense of immediacy at busy time. I once waited 7 minutes at the register with my bagel (now cold) in hand, waiting for her to check out some larger phone order. Mind you, they have 2 registers but only use one. The food is good and potentially allergen free, but if you have celiacs disease, STAY AWAY! I have not seen the staff consistently care for gluten allergies and have seen people actually tell them how to make their sandwich to avoid an allergic reaction. Service is one of the worst I've experienced. Everyone looks horribly sad and never greets you as you come in. What drove me to write this review is finally being being fed up with all the times this plce has given me horrible service. Just now, I bought a western wrap and watched as all the employees stood around doing absolutely nothing. Not a customer in the store. I had to stand up and remind them that my eggs were done (in the microwave). If you don't care about service, this place is a convenient spot to eat. If you order a bagel sandwich, be prepared to remind them to take it out of the toaster. The pick up area is not really where you pick up. I come here almost every weekend and its very hit or miss. I think it would help if the staff wrote things down because almost every time I go I ask for a bagel extra toasted and I usually have to repeat my order and it also never comes extra toasted, or even toasted at all. I understand it being busy and forgetting someones order, but it gets to be upsetting when my order is consistently wrong. I spend a lot of money here, so I wish the service were more consistent. read more

This place is very hit-or-miss and it makes me so sad! I absolutely LOVE the super veggie melt, but only if it's made accurately. I've ordered it many times in the last few months and it feels like every single time, there's something wrong with it such as a missing ingredient or an added ingredient or just the wrong thing altogether. I'm super understanding when it comes to mistakes, (we're human, it happens) but when it got to be the third or fourth time, I was a little disappointed. I have been coming here for years and have had mixed experiences but lately the quality has really declined. The prices are quite high and the menu change is quite disappointing. The took a perfectly delightful chicken salad and ruined it. Sweet potato maybe cheaper than chicken but it does not belong in a sandwich. Finally, they can rarely get my order right. I asked for a salad with kale and spinach and hard-cooked egg and sprouts and it came back a spinach salad with hard-cooked egg. I ordered a spinach, egg and sausage bagel with no cheese and it came with cheese on it. I returned it and they made me a new one which this time had egg and spinach but no sausage and the staffer argued with me claiming I had asked for cheese. I don't expect folks to remember my order from all the time but I order one of these about once a week and this is not the first time this individual has gotten it wrong. I frequently have a sense that the staff here are not happy. If morale is low, it usually means that management is opressive or abusive. I won't continue to go there if seems like the beatings will continue until morale improves. p.s. The coffee is awful. read more
