As this pub is affiliated with the Bristol Beer Factory, the ales on tap are the Beer Factory ales, like No. 7, Sunrise, Stout, Red and usually one guest ale! They are usually about £2.70 - £2.80 - pretty good. Beers on tap here are Fosters, Grolsch and the cider is a lovely fizzy Ashton Press. There is outside seating, as well as a courtyard at the back with a nice sheltered bit for when it starts raining. The food! They pride themselves on good, hearty, fresh and locally sourced food. The vegetarian lasagne and sunday roasts are my favourites here. This pub is just a lovely place to spend hours, having a quiet pint and food, with a book off their bookshelf, by the roaring fire. And they have an excellent kids menu, which delighted our picky eater. Unfortunately I was wearing a hooded top, so the bouncer on the door told me I wasn't allowed in unless I took it off, but when I told him I wasn't wearing a t-shirt underneath my wife and I were banished to the 'garden' on our own. Anywhere that needs a bouncer early evening on a Friday night to ensure that no one in hooded tops or baseball caps enters clearly has a problem, however much their pub may resemble a large, characterless Harvester.

Its a child-friendly pub and as close to a busy main road, small children have vests to wear that set off an alarm if they leave the pub garden. The Wessex Flyer is ok to visit for a quick drink or a cheap pub meal after watching a film but I would not spend a whole evening here as I find the pub a bit boring and not very relaxing.
