At first at did not like trainers because I thought they would yell at you. He is not like that at all. He is very supportive. All the people there seem to be very friendly. The place has plenty of equipment for you to use. There is always something for you to do. I also love all the different classes they offer. Of course you have to pay a little bit more for those classes but it is worth it. They have different times to accommodate people's schedules. I like this place much more than its competitors. There is so much more here to offer. They have this cool software that does a body scan for you and tells you how much you fat and other things you have. It definitely shows your imperfections it is good to knows. I love working out here.

TL;DR- money scam, can't cancel membership, was harassed…read more I have been visiting Crunch on Dixie every summer for the past four years. I always cancel my membership at the end of the summer because I go away to college and use the gym there. There is no reason to keep paying for Crunch for the 9 months that I am away at school. Over the course of my on & off four years visiting this location, it has noticeably declined. The club is both messy & dirty. Additionally, I only ever saw one personal trainer this summer and the workout classes were never offered at times I could attend like they had been previously. Not only were there no personal trainers, there was hardly anyone working there at all during weekday mornings. And for the real kicker, no one will answer the phone no matter the time you call. Furthermore, I was harassed by a man in the women's locker room in July with no one else in there with me. The man had me cornered in the sink area, asked if he could help me curl my hair (I was getting ready for work), asked if he could smell my perfume, etc. When I went to alert a staff member, I couldn't find anyone. I was later told that no one came to work that morning and that there was no one working. This left me not able to alert anyone or warn anyone about the predator. I also couldn't call to tell anyone because the phone system is messed up and calls won't go through. This left me with no choice but to come in-person to the club later that evening after work. When I did, I was told that the later morning shift knew exactly of the man I was talking about and that he continued to be a problem through the rest of the morning when someone did show for work. The solution offered to resurrect the situation was one free month, which is better than nothing, but pitiful if you ask me given the severity of what I endured. McKenzie said that the free month was put on my account, but I never got it. I was continually charged through the rest of the summer. Fast forward to now. It is now the end of summer, and I am trying to cancel my membership once more. When you look up how to cancel, it says to do it on the app. Shocker, there is no place to do it on the app. When you call, the AI Assistant, Kylie, says to go in-person. When I went in-person, I was notified that I would need to pay for another month given that I was due to pay in the next 30 days. How does that make sense? I pay every month, so obviously every payment is going to be within the next 30 days. The desk attendant, who was apart of the janitorial team, not even a staff member, tries to justify the charge by telling me that I will still have access to the gym through the next two months. If I wanted that, I would continue to pay over the next two months until that date and then cancel... I am speechless at the fact that you have to pay to cancel. I am even more floored that I have to pay to cancel when Crunch owes me at least one free month for being harassed in the women's locker room by a man. And while we are at it, I was told that no one showing up to work that morning was a one-off instance. That is a complete lie because there were multiple mornings thereafter where I observed no one working and the club left unsupervised. All of this comes after I tried to freeze my membership at the end of last summer and then cancel over Christmas break while I was home. McKenzie kindly let me know that that actually hadn't happened and that I was set to be charged on a second account. Had she not had my account open to "apply" the free month this summer, I would've been charged double! That wouldn't be the first time either! The summer before when I went to cancel my membership, I had to come in to sign the book. So I did - I signed the book. Turns out that no one canceled my membership then, and I was charged for 7 months while I was away at school! So, if you get a membership here, plan on being a member for life and don't forget to include the membership fee when figuring your retirement plan because you sure as hell have to fight to "cancel" your membership! I had been wanting to work with a personal trainer and came across The Factory Gym a few weeks ago…read more After realizing that it is located in my end of town that made me take the plunge as they are not only close to my house but offer personal training as well. I called and talked to the general manager, Tarek who was so very helpful, answered all my questions and encourage me to come in a take a tour of the gym. I had no idea that the gym has been there since 1984 about as long that we have lived in the south-end, across from the post office on Allmond Ave. The space is open with free weights, machines, a training area with all kinds of equipment to perform every exercise you could ever do. The staff are very friendly, plenty of parking right out side the door, men and women's locker rooms, a breakroom, healthy food options and a small kitchen. There are many bodybuilders who work out in the gym but everyone has been friendly and helpful if I have questions. Tarek hooked me up with Kayla, one of the trainers. You have to be a member of the gym to train there but they take Silver Sneakers so that is cool. I paid the gym directly for my training sessions and they cut you a deal if you pay for 8 sessions up front (one free). Kayla has been fantastic. As a body builder herself I feel confident in her workouts. She pushes me and I'm sore after our workouts but she is intent on preventing injury while building strength, mobility and balance. We had a couple of conversations prior to our first visit and she has tailored my sessions to work on my issues. I have finished 7 of my 8 sessions, going to the gym twice a week meeting with Kayla and what she wants me to focus on outside of our sessions together. She went out of town and sent me two workouts to do while she was gone. We will meet this week for our last session. I have been impressed with the facility, the staff and especially my trainer Kayla.

When you pay your monthly fee, your money is going to a whole host of programs. For example... * This YMCA (Southwest) has preschool that is heavily subsidized. Let's be honest - who is likely putting their children in subsidized preschool? Probably single mothers. And it's one of the best preschools in the city. * The Southwest YMCA also has an adult daycare for individuals with special needs or stroke victims, etc. Also heavily subsidized. * The YMCA on 10th and Chestnut has a homeless shelter. Completely subsidized. * The Northeast YMCA does a lot with the blind and water safety. * Safe Place is a division of the YMCA, and it is 100% subsidized. Go read up on what Safe Place is. It'll blow your mind. I could go on, but you get my point. When you get a membership at ANY of Louisville's YMCAs in the city, your money is going to support the above. The Southwest YMCA, I mentioned what it has. As well, it is a gym. And it's a great gym. The Southwest YMCA has the following: * Indoor pool * Childcare so your kids can be entertained while you workout * A rock climbing wall for the kids * Tons of classes like Zumba, Yoga, and Spinning * Basketball court * Free weights * All your standard gym equipment The Southwest YMCA is pretty big. It's not huge, but it's big enough. It gets busy after work hours and just before work hours. If you're looking for *JUST* a gym, then the YMCA may not be for you (although it will serve that purpose). However, if you're looking for your money to go further than just paying for you to be able to use a gym, then sign up at the YMCA. It's a great charity, and I'm glad to pay a monthly membership.

Whether you're a beginner or an advanced yogi (or somewhere in between), there are options here for you at this magical place in Beechmont. The introductory offer cannot be beat, and it quickly made me realize how awesome this place and the people are. Every single instructor is fantastic, and they can help you with modifications as you grow in your yoga practice. Need a break? Take one. I felt felt intimated in many yoga classes before, but not here. It is so welcoming. The space is spacious without being huge, and classes are never huge. I really cannot say enough about how much I love Supreme Peace. There are a variety of packages and price levels, and you can see the full schedule online. They also do a number of workshops and trainings. (If you've never done yoga before and want to start, they do a series for beginners.) There are some parking spots along with plenty of street parking. Supreme Peace is very community focused, and I am so thankful to have this amazing place in my community. If you're looking for yoga, you can't go wrong here!!

We didn't have a traditional yoga class set up. Instead we did a body love workshop. Our instructor was Jodie and she was very welcoming. There are cubbies and hooks at the back entrance for coats and shoes. In the next room there is seating and tea options should you want something to drink. There is also fresh water you can pour into a cup. The main room is pretty big and 16 of us fit comfortably in a circle. Jodie had us write down negative things we hear, heard or learned over the years that we needed to expel from our life. It was a total cleansing and many of the ladies shed tears as they realized they had things to dispel from their spirits. I plan to come back to check out the actual yoga class and will update the review on that. The room is comfortable, the pillows and rugs we used were good quality. I can see that there were blocks and mats available for use too.
