She watched everyone and made sure that no one fainted. The temperature was a sweaty 103 degrees. It felt amazing and everyone was dripping with sweat. The background music was wonderfully invigorating and, combined with Jana's encouraging words, I almost felt that I could twist myself into some of the poses even when I couldn't. I enjoyed watching as a few held their entire body weight on one arm and twisted the rest of their body into a pose and held it. Wowsa, Herculean Yoga-ites. As I lay flat on my back, eyes closed and feeling good about surviving this hour long class, I felt a fabulously ice-cold towel placed on my hand. I immediately placed it on my face and breathed the soothing aroma of lavender as the towel instantly cooled my sweaty face. Heavenly. There are a few changing rooms with curtains and several cubbyholes where you can put your stuff and mats are available to rent for $2. Overall, a beautiful studio for hot yoga.

The line up of teachers is absolutely amazing, having almost all my favorite instructors in the same place is awesome. They have a ton of workshops booked up, and I signed up for an arm balance class coming up. They have the cheapest drop in rate in town at $13. There are plenty of mats to rent for $2 if you don't have you're own. They also offer water, and coconut water to purchase. The studio is beautiful, obviously it's brand new so it definitely has a lot of perks. The heat wasn't too much and I think they are still working on the temp but it felt good and it's not stuffy at all. I took a class with Meg tonight and really enjoyed the 75min flow. There is a parking lot and they are right next to House of Hops on Glenwood Ave. So sad this studio wasn't open when I lived on this side of town, but I plan on making the drive and coming back again soon.

After doing some research, I found Bright Tree Yoga. They fit all the above requirements and had great reviews. I purchased a several class pack, and after just one class, I feel so good about my decision. The instructor was welcoming and offered great modifications to fit a diverse class. The class size was small, which I loved. I left feeling calmer and challenged in strength and balance - perfect for me! A few notes - not necessarily bad - just things I was surprised by. It's in a karate studio, so you're constantly staring at yourself in a mirror. I liked that for checking alignment, but also feel like it made people (me) more self-conscious and prone to compare, which isn't great for yoga. Also, the instructor didn't do yoga with us, which is totally fine. She led the class expertly, just something I've never experienced in a class before. Apparently, it's been around for 30 years, but I just discovered it when a yoga meetup/nonprofit listed their classes online. I first went to try their Adaptive Yoga class, which is on Mondays. As I left, Anita handed me a pass to try a class for free when she noticed me looking at the schedule. When I mentioned that my Mom would probably like it there, she even handed me one for my Mom! I've since been back a couple times to try their twice monthly Yoga for the Core class on Fridays. That one is my favorite. They have group and small group fitness classes every day of the week so the hours vary based upon what's offered from 6am to 7pm. I'm looking forward to trying more, but in the meantime, I intend to keep returning for those yoga classes. My only complaint is that I wish they weren't directly across from Cookout!
