She helped me to find a mortgage lender that would work with me while I am on sabbatical (which can get complicated!). The lenders ended up being wonderful to me. She was in great communication with the selling agent and was able to get every question I had answered before and after my closing. She has checked in on me to make sure I am okay and didnt have any additional questions or concerns post closing. I find this very valuable since things you may not think of or expect may occur after your closing date. It is nice to know your agent is still there for you after the formal process is complete. read more

When I sold my house in Atlanta and moved out of town, I called these guys because I had seen so many of their "Zac Did It Again!" signs in the VaHi neighborhood, I figured they'd be a good choice to possibly sell my place. Or at least I figured I'd let them be one of the three brokers I talked to about the listing price recommendation. They showed up as a team, and I didn't really realize it until later, but I think they were giving me a rehearsed "Mutt and Jeff" show as they talked about how one of my neighbors down the street had listed her house for too much, and it sat for months before it sold!! They were very nice and professional, but despite their big team of people they didn't commit to providing any real help with getting the property ready to list... of course they would be happy to recommend people for a fee. But when I'm selling a house for $600K plus, I expect the realtor to work a little bit. I'm sorry, putting my house in your proprietary MLS database does not a hard days work make. But the real kicker was their property analysis. The listing price they suggested for my house was a full $90,000 LOWER than the average of the other two. I plotted every single "comparable" they listed on the report and not a single one of them was within two miles of my house (which was two blocks walk directly into Piedmont Park). So I ignored them, but they kept hounding me by phone. So one day I finally told the boss there why I didn't go with them, and when confronted with the information above, he told me "Well, we're the real estate experts and we're just telling you what it will sell for." To which I responsed "You're right, I'm confident it WILL sell for that amount and very quickly indeed, but that's not what the property is WORTH!" He said "What do you mean?" and I said "The property is worth the absolute maximum amount someone is willing to pay for it." Bottom line, these guys are in the game of turning properties QUICKLY which means they are going to pressure you to sell your house for less than you can get for it. There may be people who are looking for that type of realtor... I wasn't. I waited four months and sold my house for almost $100,000 more than Zac wanted me to sell it for. Plus I had the services of a realtor who was in my home every single day, staged my place and did a whole bunch of work around the yard getting it ready to show just the way he wanted it (eg. he actually WORKED for his commission). read more

We worked with Alli Maddox at the Zac Team and were really happy with the results! The quick version: Alli was perceptive, knowledgeable, responsive, diligent, and friendly! She found us a great house and the entire process was very smooth (especially impressive since we're first-time buyers)! The longer version: We originally found Alli through Zillow - we wanted to see a particular house, and Zillow randomly assigned us to her. When we got in touch, she explained that the particular house we wanted to look at was already off the market (Zillow sometimes lags a bit). She gave us a link to a more up-to-date set of listings and asked if we'd like to meet so she can help us with our house search. We explained that we were only casually looking and really didn't intend to buy a house any time soon (if at all). Despite that, she said she'd be happy to meet and learn more about our interests, and she even came out to our apartment to meet with us (we'd recently had a baby and didn't want to travel). Alli took us out to see a number of different houses on different occasions, helping us to get a sense of the market and different neighborhoods. She understood that we were still in "just browsing" mode, and we never felt like she was pushing us to buy something. She was helpful in helping us think out the pros and cons of various houses. She was attentive in listening to what we liked and didn't like, and eventually suggested visiting a house that hadn't been on our list. It was fairly different than some of the things we'd been choosing to visit, and we realized as we walked through that it was actually much more in line with our style! I thought it was really impressive that she seemed to know our needs/ interests better than we did! (And it was less expensive than some others we'd been looking at - which was great!) That ended up being the house that we bought. Alli continued to be very responsive and helpful after we'd made an offer on the house. She answered lots of questions (by phone, text, and email), and helped us to understand everything in the contract (we had some questions about some of the terminology, and she actually walked us through it paragraph by paragraph). She explained what we would do during the buying process, and made suggestions related to finding mortgage brokers and inspectors. We couldn't be present at the inspection, so Alli went in our place - and she took measurements of the rooms for us. She made good recommendations about what to ask the sellers to fix, and everything we asked for ended up getting done. Alli did a walk-through herself afterwards, noting a couple small things that would require follow-up, and she did another walk-through with us when we got back to town.
