I don't usually leave negative reviews about businesses. I don't like to spread that negativity…read more However, I feel the need to keep other parents informed. We signed up our daughter for Monday night beginners folklorico through the city. Classes were great. Good instructor. Repetitive and age appropriate. The business is FULL OF HIDDEN FEES. The registration is 40 dollars. Okay, great! Right? We show up and they say it'll be another 160 for shoes, skirt, undershorts and hair net. Red flag, but fine. We paid it. Then for the performance they say we need a DIFFERENT SKIRT- which apparently they also charged for. I would not know because it was not communicated to me that the girls need to match. I asked what type of dress would be needed and where to purchase. They said olvera street for about 200. Okay, my daughter is invested so fine. No biggie. We show up to performance and EVERYONE ELSE HAD MATCHING SKIRTS. It was NEVER communicated to me. So my daughter performed in a different outfit. They charged us for a studio danza shirt and another white shirt. There are SO MANY HIDDEN FEES AND RED FLAGS ABOUT THIS PLACE! Small space for a lot of children and families. Many parents find themselves sitting on the floor. Luisa is nice and the instructor is great, but I think the whole thing is shady. I will not be returning to this studio. If you can find another place to do Folklorico- do it. I don't mean to be so direct and mean, but I want to help other families not make the same mistakes I did.

Terrible terrible dance studio!! By far the worst in Whittier. We signed up my child for Folklorico…read morethrough the Whittier Park and recreations online. My husband couldn't find the location and he was told they couldn't talk and hang up on him. To many details but I'll start with the most important ones. 1. It was the wrong location apparently they moved and didn't bother to tell the city to update the information. 2. The establishment has no running Air conditioning or ventilation. 3. The dance studio is small and kids barely have room to move. 4. Staff is rude and not welcoming. Do yourself a favor and don't sign up to establishment and save yourself a huge disappointment.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this dance studio. My daughter started with the…read moremommy-and-me classes, and now she's thriving in her independent classes. The nurturing environment gave her the confidence to adjust to school easily, and she's grown so much both in her love for dance and her independence. Not only has this studio helped my daughter build confidence and independence, but it's also where she's formed beautiful friendships. She looks forward to every class, and I can see how she's is Blossoming. I also want to mention that my other two daughters have gone through this same experience as well, and they've had the same incredible growth, gaining confidence, independence, and a true love for dance. It's been a wonderful journey for all of us. I'm so grateful for the amazing Dance teachers. Thank you Once again DANCE IMAGE

I brought my daughter in for dance class for a few months. I definitely will not be returning for…read morethe next season. Signing up and fees are very complicated. Feels like there's a money grab whenever possible. Strict dressing rules for the younger kids was off putting but tolerable. The worst part is the teacher we had. I can't speak to how other teachers were but Jessica was not a good one. She consistently didn't help correct students on proper movement and provided little instruction. It was like she was robotically gliding through the classes and the children would get confused or bored. I doubt any kid learned a thing about dancing in that class. Only good thing I liked was that my daughter found it ok to be on her own without me in a class setting which will help her feel more independent when it comes to school time. Another scary thing are the stairs to go into the studio. The hand rails have huge gaps that people, especially kids, can easily fall through.

What a little gem in Uptown Whittier!…read more Parking is a breeze even though there is a little bit of a walk, but there is plenty and it is free. Snacks and drinks are available to purchase; wine, beer, cheese/crackers, candy, chips, water. Bathrooms are plenty and clean. But let's get to the auditorium, shall we??? It's so adorable and fancy! The architecture in this place is beautiful, although kinda funky too with it's bright colors. The first time I walked in, I literally was amazed. It feels like a "big league" playhouse, yet it is small and quaint at the same time. Seats are very comfortable with legroom and not a lot of "pardon me, 'scuse me" issues since it is laid out with short rows. I've literally sat in the vey back row of the main level and was able to see and hear perfectly! Kudos for the acoustics. The temperature in the auditorium is also comfortable; not too hot, not too cold. A wide variety of performers at the Shannon Center! Plays, musicals, entertainers, all music genres! Check out the Hawaiian series too. Need something artsy and entertaining to do? Check out their website and see all the upcoming acts.... you may just have your next date planned! Wonderful job Whittier College! Shannon Center is only list of places to "go to" when looking for something to do. CHEERS!

Came here on a rainy Sunday afternoon to catch the Whittier College Department of Theatre's…read moreproduction of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) and was more than pleasantly pleased by both the venue and the comedic performances. While, yes, I am a biased and proud aunt of the female lead, I was still able to cast my biases aside and review the venue as a whole. That said, my niece rules, my niece rules,my niece rules. First off, the parking was super convenient, free, and located on the same lot and block as the theatre. The ticket prices were fair, as they went for $15 bucks a pop. Not too shabby for 2 hours of live entertainment all while supporting the college theatre department. The theatre was on the larger end of the small side. I'm not too sure if there's a larger stage, but the one that we were in seemed to suit the play nicely. I enjoyed that aspect because I really got to appreciate the nuances of each performance, attention to detail, and engage in the communal aspect of being part of a live audience. Good stuff. Oh yeah, the restrooms were also pretty big. On the downside, I wish there would've been more variety at the snack bar during intermission. Not a big deal. Go eat after the performance at one of the many local restaurants nearby. Also, the seats were padded chairs, so be sure to shift your position after some time. Overall, loved it! It's a shame I hadn't attended any previous productions, but rest assured that I'll be returning for more. Support the kids, support the arts!
