The staff was friendly and organized, and getting in and seated was smooth even with a full house. The Center Theatre Group hooked us up with a pair of second row tickets for this play when we were at the LA Times Festival of Books, and we purchased an additional pair for friends to join us for the show. Guac was a hilarious, creative, and heartfelt production. What amazed me was how the star of the show managed to pull off such a spectacular performance as a one-man band. His energy combined with the excellent crowd work on the audience made the whole night feel surreal. Without giving away too much of the plot, I can tell you that this play is very much on the nose for today's social climate and the timing couldn't be more perfect with upcoming elections. You can tell this theatre really supports bold, original productions instead of just playing it safe. Also appreciated how clean and well-maintained the venue was, plus there are plenty of good spots nearby to grab food or drinks before the show, like ramen at Ippudo or Mensho Tokyo. They also validate parking for an additional two hours if you park at City Hall, so I recommend taking advantage of this. The recommended attire is more on the casual side compared to Broadway shows you'd catch at Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, so leave the suits at home and pack a comfy outfit instead. Already looking forward to coming back for another production!

The ticket validation scanner is in the lobby area and staff are there to assist if need be. Came here to see the "Enormous Crocodile" with some other fellow adults. Probably one of the few groups here without children. For some strange reason, after purchasing my tickets, it said to pick them up from the box office, but that was no issue and we were able to get physical tickets ASAP, around 20 minutes before the musical. There's concession where you can get snacks (must finish before entering the theater) or drinks (can bring inside). They had some specials for the season and some specials for the showing, which we got both of. I really liked the non-alcoholic Swamp Water, very refreshing and fruity and the little palm tree umbrella was very cute and on theme. My bro and his friend shared the Croc Cooler, which was made with vodka, blue curacao, orange juice and bitters, and sprite and a stick of cinnamon. Very strong, had to water this down with the Swamp Water, but overall, definitely much more affordable than the spirits at the Ahmanson theater. There's also complimentary water. For the families there, there was a table for coloring and craft making, a wall to share your artwork, a nook of books recommended by the Croc, and a small table selling merchandise. For concession and merch, it was cashless only! It's a smaller theater but it uses the space pretty well, some seats to the side, and some balcony seats too. The stage is at ground level meaning you can walk in from the first row of seats (some parents had to reel in their toddlers from doing this). We were in the 3rd row from the front and the sound was nice and crisp, lighting was great, and it was nice from where we were at to see the details in the set, costume, and puppetry. Overall a fun experience and a good theater.

When first started it was 8 UCLA students. Four decades later, it is 50 committed actors. You simply must go. It is a not for profit and the actors work for nothing. I describe it as fucking awesome. But perhaps you're looking for something more specific than that... Lost Moon Radio is set around Jupiter Jack who is a DJ floating in space. There are talk segments, songs, commercials, etc. They are presently on their 7th episode. If you're in the mood for a taste of what they have, you can check out their website. It has been a long time since I have laughed to the point that my face hurts, but these folks managed it. Except that joke about the pandas. I did not care for that. Also, afterwards, there super awesome band hosts live band karaoke. There's a large selection and they take requests for future performances. If you haven't seen them yet, shame on you.

The play was amazing, and I'd highly recommend seeing it if you get the opportunity. Big thanks to Michael K. for alerting us to the show, which we otherwise wouldn't have known about. Parking was easy and cheap, $5 for a matinee show (apparently $8 for evening). We cut it close and arrived just a few minutes before the 2:00 start time, but we were apparently in good company and got to our seats well before curtain. We were stopped just outside the theater by a group of IATSE protestors, who handed out flyers asking patrons to pressure management to give the Wallis crew a fair contract. According to this flyer (and I can't find anything else about this online), the Wallis has been bargaining with the union for six months and pays crew below standard wages for Los Angeles County. If anyone at Wallis is reading this Yelp review, consider it my email in support of the union. You're a theater named for a billionaire heiress. Pay your people. The theater was nice and the production was fantastic. Our seats were in the mezzanine, and we had a great view of the stage. Loved the set design, which involved a single classroom structure on a rotating platform. The performances were amazing, as was everything else that went into the production. I hope the Wallis does right by its crew so they can keep putting on top notch theater. I get their emails now and have not yet unsubscribed, as I'd like to know what other shows they have in the pipeline.

Even after visiting multiple times, the interior still manages to wow us. It's one of those places where you walk in and find yourself looking around before you even think about the show. Such a gorgeous theater with so much character! The seating is comfortable, too. We sat in the very last row of the main floor and were pleasantly surprised. The seats are nicely tiered, so the person in front of us didn't block our view at all. And honestly, the last row has its perks! When the show ends, you can make a quick escape to the restroom and beat the crowd. Consider it strategic seating. The sound system is definitely powerful. If you have sensitive ears, I'd recommend bringing a pair of earplugs--especially for those big musical numbers when the theater really turns it up! Otherwise, it's such a lovely place to see a show. Beautiful architecture, comfortable seating, great views, and plenty of old-school theater charm. We'll definitely be back for the next show!

Uncensored, at the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre…read more This was my first time seeing Puppet Up, and I honestly didn't know what to expect beyond "improv" and "adults only, no holding back." What I didn't realize going in is that the puppeteers rotate, so literally no two shows are alike, and they build everything live off audience suggestions. I'm really glad Brian Henson is doing this. He's kind of on the cutting edge with this whole improv concept, who would've thought puppetry and unscripted adult comedy would work together this well. The cast wove in some classic material from the earliest Jim Henson days too, and that brought back so much of the whimsy and wonder the puppets are capable of. It felt thoughtful, like they genuinely wanted to honor where this all started, and they even said they felt honored that we were all enjoying it together. What really got me was realizing how much skill is hidden under the "make it look effortless" of it all. They pulled an audience member up for a crash course in puppeteering, just moving the mouth, basic mechanics, and it was clearly so much harder than it looks. That moment really drove home how much technical control these puppeteers have underneath all that improvised chaos. It's a lively, sixteen-and-over show, and that rating is earned, there's plenty of adult language and suggestive content. But if you go in ready for that, it's a genuinely magical, funny night.

It's really cool and a ton of fun! If you're not laughing hysterically from this show then you probably have no sense of humor. I recommend splurging and purchasing the VIP experience tickets since it gives you exposure to the puppeteers before the show and you get to see (up close) famous artifacts/puppets from various Henson productions.....not to mention a Q&A with Brian Henson himself! Very intimate. Not sure how the view is from the sides however. I loved the play. A series of 6 plays is around $235 which is very reasonable. I'll definitely come back! The restrooms are ancient with doors that are wayyy too small, but I guess it's common for a school? Briefly met the artistic director who is clearly passionate about his job and doing his best to keep this theatre alive. I loved that.
