My father was kicked out of this…read morenursing home after only 2 weeks and abandoned at Easley Baptist E.R. at 7:30 a.m. The law in South Carolina is that a family must be given a 30 day warning for discharge and attempts should be made to change meds or behavioral therapy alternatives before discharging, which was never done, even though I requested 3 times for Seroquel to be discontinued. In our case, our father was combative with staff at 7 a.m. because he did not want to get up. He was placed in his wheelchair and transported to the breakfast area where residents were sitting for breakfast. Still angry that he was made to get up, he shook another resident's wheelchair and spat. My father is an invalid and can not propel his own wheelchair. He had his own private room. The wisest solution was to push his wheelchair near the nurses station or keep him in his own room, and NOT NEAR RESIDENTS since the staff already knew he was being combative. The staff was negligent and poorly trained to make this decision, both in placing him at the table and then to call an ambulance to take him away. Our family took him home and have not found placement for him in 6 months. I had to quit my job to handle this situation. We were in Lila Doyle Nursing home for 1 year and 1/2. We were induced to come to Clemson Downs because they said that they knew how to handle patients with Lewy Bodies disease and my mother could live near my father on the same grounds in independent living. Now Lila Doyle nursing home will not take him back. If we had known that we were on a trial basis and could be kicked out in 2 weeks of admission, we would have NEVER come to this nursing home. I would not wish this experience on anyone. I was emotionally traumatized, hearing that my father had been abandoned, without warning, at an E.R., and I had to figure out what to do. There was an indication from Clemson Downs administration that they would take my father back if his medications were changed. Clemson Downs could have changed his medications, without abandoning him to have me figure it out at home. He is still combative occasionally, but I do the smart thing: walk away. If he were to have gone back there, the likelihood is that they would have kicked him out AGAIN! Do not risk your loved one going to this nursing home!

She spent a lot of time with us even after it became apparent that the wait list was too long for our needs. Debra referred us to other facilities in the Asheville area. She talked to us about local resources for folks with Alzheimer'/dementia. She acted more like a social worker than an admissions person. If you want your Senior to be left to care for themselves and to sit and do nothing all day this is your place. Prior to getting there he was a resident at a large national chain of assisted living facilities for about four years. I had no complaints at the previous place but when I got to the Landings of Mills River I saw another level of care. The staff was attentive, caring and on top of my father's needs. They are focused on not only his comfort and his physical health, but also his mental health by engaging him in daily activities, leading to a 'happier dad'. The physical therapist was spectacular, such a kind, patient man. The nurses were beyond good, always focused on the well being of those under their care. The price, compared to the national chain, was much better, in this case I paid less, my father got better care and I slept easier knowing I had found the right place for my dad. ED doesn't seem to care about families and residents once they are paying rent. The other manager up front with the short hair and glasses was so incredibly rude to my daughter when she came to visit my mother and her grandmother. Never felt welcome. The turnover is outrageous. Anyone good is immediately fired and the worst of the worst are hired and kept long term. So many other options out there for places that will actually care for your loved ones. I had a discussion with a former employee who let me know they were all required to leave positive reviews to boost ratings. More than half the reviews below me are fake and created by employees.

The maintenance staff are very helpful, and mounted Mom's TV to the wall, as well as hung her drapes. Fairview appears very clean and well maintained, including the exterior and grounds. Activities are varied and planned each month, with games, shopping, social events, restaurants and outings. Food is varied and quantities are appropriate. Staff and Mgt are friendly with both guests and residents. Many are familiar with Mom, and know to ask about her food choices. The MedTechs and Caregivers are careful with her thin skin, and avoid bruising her when providing injections. They are very watchful, and contact the family any time they note a difference, which is greatly appreciated. Staffers are pleasant and engage easily with the residents, despite being extremely busy. Everyone multitasks! Of note is this all-inclusive rate, so there is extra an level of assistance for a resident when needed. The family is very pleased to have Mom here, and we would recommend to anyone seeking AL care.

This facility has been scandalous in its dealings with our family. In addition to FREQUENTLY either…read morenot dispensing medicines because of "difficulties" with their specific pharmacy, allegedly 'borrowing' medicines from other residents to cover for meds they did not have, and only cleaning the room of our parents 3 times in 3 months while assuring us it was going to be cleaned weekly, this ranks as the worst care experience we have ever heard of. Nearly from the time of arrival, they tried to upsell us or encourage us to split our parents up into two separate rooms.they even tried Suggesting hospice services even though neither of them has ever had a terminal diagnosis because they were lacking in staff to care for them. The list goes on and on, but perhaps the most egregious aspect was that when we finally made arrangements to terminate our relationship with them in writing substantially sooner than required within the contract, and specifically requesting in writing that we not be overcharged for days they would not be living there, they were billed another full month for the two days they were there. When asked about having the excess returned to the card that it was charged on, we were told that they don't do that. They said they mail a check and it can take up to 4-8 weeks to receive it. Well, we are at week 10 and no check and no response to our phone calls except to say that they have been very busy or they are in meetings. We have grown weary of their disingenuous ways and have decided to turn this over to our attorney to pursue further action. I share this here because the brochures promise so much, as do the sales people, but don't fall prey to what our family endured. There are other options. I'd try about anywhere else, and maybe even look into trying a hotel. It would be cheaper, the rooms would be clean, and you wouldn't have the risk of them charging thousands of dollars on your card and holding it for months without interest.
