It didn't really hurt at all due to all of her preparation beforehand and after. She even tweezed loose hairs and offered to do the happy trail, both of which I was not offered at other big chain stores. Her services are so cheap for the level of care and expertise she gives you. Victoria's is still a solid five stars for hair removal!…read more Since my first review over a decade ago, a few things have changed - the studio moved (just a few blocks east, with better parking in my opinion), I've moved (a few times!), I tried laser hair removal (meh), and Dao has upgraded her electrolysis machine (making her process even faster). Through all the changes, my rating and loyalty remains. I can even walk across the street from where I currently live to get waxed instead of driving across the Bay Bridge and halfway across the city to get to Victoria's, but I still prefer Dao! Dao's efficiency, excellent work, affordable prices, and sweet, chatty demeanor keep me coming back. Although my first Brazilian electrolysis session was over 7 years ago, I have only booked/been able to tolerate 30 minute sessions, 1-3x per year. Certain areas of the body have more stubborn hair that requires more sessions, and Dao is very upfront about all of this. A few weeks after each session I notice less and less hair regrowing; there are certain areas where hair has never come back, and the areas that she continues to work on gets smaller and smaller. I look forward to my next session with Dao and I'm thinking I will ask her health/beauty tips, because she doesn't look a day older than the first day I met her!

The nail tech assigned to me didn't even say hello, yet fawned over the "regulars." The actual pedicure was sloppy and unprofessional. The attached photo speaks for itself--uneven shape, sloppy paint job, and a small lint on the right big toe. When I politely asked the nail tech to fix it, she rudely said "I know!" But didn't even fix it in the end. In addition, she did not cap the free edges and the next day, the nail polish chipped on a few nails (not pictured).

I typically pay for the full service and also leave very generous tips--often around 40-45%--because I truly believe in appreciating people who provide excellent service. Unfortunately, despite being a loyal and respectful customer, my overall experience with the business has become increasingly disappointing. The biggest issue is the customer service outside of the actual appointments. Whoever is responsible for responding to client messages and handling appointment scheduling comes across as unprofessional, dismissive, and at times disrespectful. Booking appointments or communicating with the business often feels frustrating rather than welcoming. A business that depends on repeat clients should treat every interaction with professionalism and courtesy, and that has not been my experience. Another concern is the inconsistency in the quality of the lash technicians. While I have had wonderful experiences with a couple of them, several others have been surprisingly rude and lacked the customer service skills I would expect from a luxury beauty business. On two separate occasions, lash technicians pulled on my natural lashes hard enough that it was painful. Instead of apologizing or checking to make sure I was okay, one technician raised her voice and told me not to move--even though I had not moved at all. That interaction left me feeling blamed for something that wasn't my fault and made an already uncomfortable experience much worse. A simple apology and kindness would have gone a long way. I do want to recognize the technicians who consistently provide exceptional service because they deserve the credit. Sophia and Selina are outstanding. They are professional, gentle, highly skilled, and always make me feel comfortable. They take pride in their work, communicate respectfully, and provide the kind of customer experience that keeps clients coming back. If every technician and staff member reflected their level of professionalism, this would easily be a five-star business. This review is not meant to attack anyone personally. It is honest feedback from someone who has invested a lot of time and money into this business and genuinely wanted to continue supporting it. Excellent technical skills are only one part of running a successful beauty business. Respectful communication, professionalism, accountability, and making clients feel valued are just as important. I sincerely hope management takes these concerns seriously because there is tremendous potential here. Improving client communication, providing additional customer service training, and fostering a culture where clients are treated with respect would make a significant difference.

Malie is the ladder, luckily. Malie sent me a professional email to rectify the situation by offering to take a look at my lashes and also offering to pay for a month's supply of Latisse (albeit, this didn't cover the $300+ I paid for the lashes that only lasted less than 2 weeks plus time spent growing back my lashes and time spent having to apply fake lashes daily until my natural lashes grew back to normal, but I took her up on her offer). Malie also reached out to the company of the lash extensions regarding my situation. I didn't feel like she was trying to buy a better review out of me either - it was genuine. And I'm glad to know she didn't cut my lashes. To be fair, my lash hairs were pretty fine (more fine than anyone I've seen) so the extensions could have just been too much for my lashes and now I know. The Latisse has worked phenomenally. It's been almost 1 month and my lashes have definitely grown longer and I think they are a tad thicker. All in all, it'll work out in the end and the way Malie professionally handled this experience shows she really cares about taking care of her clients.
