Scheduling appointments is a nightmare. Twice now we have been scheduled at the Mooresville…read morelocation and the doctor was not even there that day when I arrived with my mom. No apologies. No call backs to explain. Just, "he's not here" one time and "we called you and left voice mail" which was the wrong # so I never got it. It's now been weeks. You get lost in their system. The "central" location doesn't communicate with the satellite locations. And, you cannot call into the satellite sites. Only 1 # for communications. I sought out JWM Neuro help for my elderly mother who suffers with a brain injury and dementia type symptoms. It is not easy to get her to the appointments since she doesn't live with me and is in a wheelchair. I do not appreciate the extra stress JWM puts upon the patients. The one time we did actually speak with the Dr was a good experience. Hopefully, he will be in office this second attempt to hear results and his recommendations. I'm not holding my breath though. I don't see how they get results or actually treat patients. We've been at this for months. I understand that they charge a heavy fee if you are 15+ minutes late. I also want reimbursement for gas and time when the office infrastructure is continuously lousy and lacks communication. If you like the doctors, great. But good luck with the rest.

Many doctors have too many patients to remember them from appointment to appointment, let alone their specific needs. They rely on appointment notes instead of getting to know the patient themselves. They loose test results and don't pay attention to medication dosages. Unfortunately, many patients are just another number and not seen as individuals. I have been dealing with them for over 15 years with my husband, father and now my daughter. If you can find someone outside of the JWM group, I would go with them instead.

However, I was unable to get past the rude receptionist. I had called to see if Dr. Smartt was accepting new patients. The person on the phone indicated that he was taking new patients. She said I needed a referral. I explained that I was currently see a Neurologist however I wanted to see Dr. Smartt instead. She said I needed to have my records sent to the office. I went on line and filled out the documentation, when to the office to take the application along with my insurance card and identification. She stayed on phone after I walked in. Another person came in behind me. She got off the phone, spoke with him for a few moments and then he went to sit in the waiting room. Meanwhile, I am waiting to see if she will address me since I had been waiting for her to get off the phone and to speak with me. Finally, I walked up to her desk and explained I was the person who had called to see if Dr. Smartt was accepting new patients. I told her I had filled out the documentation on line and that I had filled out the request to have my records submitted to Dr. Smartt. She took the paperwork and said she would call after she received the records. A week has past, I had not heard anything from Dr. Smartt's office so I called to see if the person at the front desk had received the documentation, she said she had not received the documentation. I contacted the other office, they indicated they had sent all documentation to Dr. Smartt's office and that they had document to show date and time. I ask if they could resend the documentation. They had no problem resending the documentation. After they sent the documentation they called me back to let me know they had resent all documentation. After two weeks of not hearing anything from Dr. Smartt's office, I called his office to ask if they had received my records from the other office. The person who answered the call asked me for my information of which I gave her. She then placed me on hold for 23 minutes and never returned. I called back, and the answering machine immediately sent me to voice mail. I called back again, this time it gave me a message saying that they could not see me until they had receive all records. The documentation as sent twice as of today (a month later) no follow-up phone call. I also hope that the person who did not follow up has shredded all my PHI as well as the copy of my insurance card and my ID. Needless to say, I never got to meet Dr. Smartt. I will never know if Dr. Smartt was a good as the young lady had indicated. Hopefully, if you want to see Dr. Smartt you will find a way to see him, as I was unable. Good Luck

I forced him to cite his reference to support his conclusions. I asked that the citation be included in the clinical notes. He did not include it. Received a referral from my cardiologist to JWM, and was told they would call to schedule. 2 weeks…read morelater, I called to check on the appointment since I had not heard anything. I left a number for a callback. Nothing. 35 days after the referral I called again, and finally received a return call. The "lady" that called me had a total case of attitude. Before receiving the call, I had researched the practice reviews. I responded to the attitude by explaining that I understand why they have a 1.3 rating out of 5, and had neither the time nor patience for such nonsense, and would seek another practice. I have a very complex medical history and I am new to Indiana. I must say, when it comes to neurology, I am not impressed. Be your own advocate, or have someone knowledgeable advocate for you. But you do NOT need to tolerate this behavior from ANY medical "professional." Too bad ratings do not go below one star. And yes, it was the office staff, not the doctor giving me attitude. I can't speak for others, but can you trust a physician with your healthcare needs who obviously can't even monitor or control the office staff? I can't. I have had extensive experience with neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology, hematology, both vascular and orthopedic surgery in the Cleveland Clinic, OSU, UC, and UWV with top notch treatment across the board from skilled professionals referring me when an issue was outside their scope. Unfortunately not my first rodeo. But there is absolutely no reason for such treatment before ever seeing a physician. If some wannabe office sergeant can't handle a simple referral, what will happen when you really need information relayed to your provider? I didn't request the appointment, myself. My cardiologist sent a referral on my behalf. I will be making certain he reconsiders referring to this office again. All that's really needed to change his mind is to have him read this page.

I was referred by my PCP in February for neurological issues. I finally was able to schedule an…read moreappointment for MAY. I saw the doctor, and he was fine. He ordered an MRI of my brain to rule out any problems. That's where things went south. They referred me to a facility that was out-of-network for my insurance (apparently they couldn't be bothered to check), then dropped the ball. I had to call back, several times in fact, and they gave me the name of another MRI facility to call and the number. So I tried to call -- that number did not exist. I was able to find the correct number and called. Guess what? They had never received the orders from JWM! Apparently JWM staff had faxed it to the wrong number. Who knows where my medical info is now??? Anyway, I called JWM back and left a message (you can never talk to an actual human) with the CORRECT fax number. Several days went by -- crickets from everybody -- so I called the MRI place again and scheduled the appointment, assuming (stupidly) that the paperwork had been faxed. I got a call from the facility the day before the MRI telling me they still hadn't received insurance approval for the scan. I checked my insurance account online and the referral had NEVER been submitted by JWM! I know, shocker, right?? The MRI appointment was canceled, I immediately called JWM and left a message (again, nobody answers the phone) telling them what happened. That was over a week ago and I've heard nothing from JWM. Interestingly, I have a follow-up appointment next week to discuss the results of my MRI. What a joke! You mean the MRI that hasn't happened yet because nobody wants to do their job? What are we supposed to discuss? I've had it and am going somewhere else. I called a new neurologist's office this morning and they asked if I've seen a neurologist before. I relayed this story -- without mentioning any names -- and was told, "I'll bet I can guess where you went." She assured me those things would never happen at their office. So today I have changed the referral with my insurance company, contacted the new doctor's office, and have an appointment. All in the same day! Back in the beginning of this fiasco, I was warned about the office staff and the problems. I'm just sorry I didn't heed the warnings. It's now almost July and I've been waiting nearly five months to find out my issue. I will NEVER go to any of their offices again and will tell everybody I know to steer clear. Too bad, because I liked the doctor and thought he was very knowledgeable and thorough. Something needs to be done.

(Blanket waiver) Billed me for a no show, when that wasn't the case. Medicaid's transport company couldn't find a ride for me that day. A health care provider can't bill a medicaid recipient at all for that, even if I had a ride but just didn't feel like going The transport company called them and explained it to them and they hung up on them. That appointment was over 1.5 yrs ago and they still bill me. They call, send bills in the mail and it's in my chart that I owe them $25 Riding the line: Didn't actually have a neurologist on staff when I asked for one. There was one next door but they didn't accept my insurance. Dr. Kundi's staff said they weren't associated, but was also told Dr. Kundi "isn't that type of neurologist". Unfortunately he's the only doctor they have, so I can't talk to any doctor at all, just NPs. Billed medicaid/Medicare $1400 for a $45 brace that he insisted on. One THEY prescribed. (It took me a long time to correct that after they put it in my chart. I asked them to look in my files to see 1 I was on the drug and 2 that it was them that prescribed it. Then I had to find a medical journal to quote and show them.) They did nothing but scold me and still prescribed my pain medicine as usual. Stay out of this unethical cesspool.

Dr. McCanna is very approachable and easy to talk too. He reviews Xrays and MRI in layman terms and takes the time to answer any and all of my questions. His surgical description is clear and easy to follow. Scheduling me with Dr. Wilson for a nerve block reduced the pain almost immediately until I was ready for surgery and a true blessing. Dr. McCanna is thorough, doesn't take unnecessary risks or rush to surgery if he feels there are unnecesaary risks during or after with healing i.e. postponing my surgery due to a A1c number to high risking my healing process. I was scheduled for surgery to replace my C-6 and C-7 due to degenerative disc disease. The day of surgery went well and I felt I was in excellent hands. I was still nervous but the surgical team did a great job reassuring me. I have to give a huge shout-out to Emma Schulte, Dr. McCanna's Neurosurgical Physician Assistant, who is invaluable, totally accessible and has a fabulous rapport with her patients. She provided follow up calls as promised, interacted with my liver doctors and transplant coordinator and I always felt she was on top of my case. I cannot say enough great things! My four week post op visit went quickly and smoothly. Xrays are done in office 15 minutes prior to physicians appointment by a very nice, friendly tech. The wait time was minimal for all appointments. My scar has healed nicely and is barely noticeable on my neck. Great job and thank you Dr. McCanna! I still have a couple additional follow up appointments until I'm back to 100% but I feel like I'm almost there. Thank you to all who participated in my treatment plan.
