I am not one for leaving negative online reviews. I am a conscientious person who strongly believes in karma. My experience at Theophany Staffing was not good. From the moment I arrived there, the setup was strange where there's a conjoined round table consisting of all Caucasian women. I came in for my interview on time, but I had to wait until they finished their group discussions about other people that they have interviewed which could have been discussed when I wasn't there. During the hour-long interview, I can't help but notice that this agency is "religion-based" (Evangelical Christian). I am a practicing Catholic, but I felt that we should be focusing more on my skills, professional/educational backgrounds, and potentials. It was so cringy as I felt like I was getting recruited to be a part of a ministry or cult. Also, I felt so uncomfortable getting interviewed while there are several conversations going on in the background. I tried to follow up with two of their associates and I never heard back from them which is a blessing in disguise as I would have not been a good fit and I personally wouldn't be happy in the long run. In all honesty this is not a reputable agency, and the Department of Labor should probably look into their practice. For someone who has a background in Human Resources, in my opinion, an agency should practice fairness and equity and Theophany Staffing missed the mark. read more

Meh. I have interviewed here twice. Once in July of 2012. Lyndee made me feel as though I was perfect for a couple available positions. I followed up but then never heard anything. Oh well. I interviewed here again in May of 2013. They had no record of me or I had been forgotten. This time I interviewed with Joy. Again, she told me about two opportunities that she thought I was perfect. I followed up the next day as she had requested. She never called back. A week after that interview, I received another call asking me to come in and interview. But I interviewed last week? Why can't I just get a follow-up?!?! I'm sure they do great work... If you repeatedly call and bug the crap out of them. I would highly recommend Theophany and have told all my friends about them already. I was looking for a job for over a year with the unreliable help of many recruiting firms in the downtown area. I was very reluctant to add another one to my list cause I was hopeless in search of my first career. Theophany was by far the most professional relationship I had with a recruiting firm. From my first interview with them to my current career, they walked me along the path. Let me tell you it was a breathe of fresh air. I particularly worked with Bridget Neiman and she is Fabulous! Her personality radiates through the phone and I could not be more thankful for all the hard work she went through to really pull through. I've been to Theophany Staffing on two occasions. Joy and Lyndee are professional, friendly, upbeat individuals who made me feel confident I could find a new job. Although I did not get a job through them, they made me feel like I was worth something. Lyndee reviewed several different positions with me on both visits. The first position was an executive assistant position in downtown Chicago. Lyndee contacted the employer, however the employer did not want to interview me as I did not have the exact qualifications they were looking for. Lyndee's communication with me was prompt, courteous and informed. On my second visit, probably about a year later, I applied for a corporate buyer's position in the suburbs. The reception was the same: warm, welcoming, and an overall positive environment. Lyndee told me she would contact the employer, and she also reviewed several other positions with me. Unfortunately, all of the other positions available were paying much less than I was looking for, or even making, at that time. I'd definitely recommend Theophany Staffing to individuals who are currently unemployed. There were a lot of good opportunities available to me, but none fit my criteria at the time. I also followed up with Lyndee via email about 2-3 times, and I received responses each time. When I was just getting out of college I worked with staffing agencies and the experience was horrible. I was blessed enough to start a successful career on my own but now I am looking to change directions and I find myself going through the job search process again. As anyone who is currently in the process of looking for their next position knows, this is not a fun activity. I applied for a job that I was interested in and was called by Theophany Staffing for an interview. I went with low expectations but was absolutely blown away. I had the pleasure of being interviewed and coached by Erika S. She went far beyond the roll of a recruiter and had me extremely well prepared for interviews. She took the time to go over my background and concisely highlight my career path to best speak to the employer I was targeting. She followed up with me often and kept me informed through the entire process. So many people on here say, "I wish I could rate less than one star but they force you to use one." I wish they had a way to rate more than five stars. Erika would deserve an extra star. If you are checking reviews on staffing companies, you are probably job searching. Joy was so enthusiastic in the voicemail she left for me that, despite not wanting to go through a staffing agency during my job search, I opted to return her call and set up an interview. It was a Tuesday and I called her a few hours after I received her voicemail and we set up an interview for early Friday morning. During our very brief phone conversation, she asked me to try to re-arrange some things I had scheduled during the week in order to come in sooner. She asked me to respond to the e-mail confirmation she was going to send me if I were able to re-schedule. On Wednesday, I re-arranged everything with consequence and e-mailed her in the morning per her request to set something up for Thursday instead. I never received a response. Since I hadn't heard from her, I e-mailed again to let her know I wasn't coming in since she never set something up with me. On Thursday evening (I gave her until well after business hours), I e-mailed to tell her I wouldn't be coming in on Friday since I had already re-arranged my schedule as she had asked and was no longer available on Friday. I thought maybe I would hear from her after not showing up for my interview on Friday but that tells me that she was, in fact, receiving and reading my e-mails and was simply not responding. I told her I wasn't coming in so it clearly wasn't a surprise when I didn't. That's when I knew I dodged a bullet because you need to work closely with staffing agencies when you are hired through them. You need to be able to trust that they are going to be communicating with you effectively and not leave you hanging and wondering what is going on. I wouldn't be as perturbed by the lack of response if she hadn't ASKED me to e-mail her. Just no. I waited about 20 minutes for my interview after I filled out extensive paperwork. My interview itself lasted over an hour, they asked me about my very first work experience till present day. It was difficult to keep my train of thought as we were constantly interrupted by phone calls. During my interview, my interviewer took 4 phone calls. Initially, I was not put off by this. I thought if the agency was very busy, then they would have a better chance of finding me a job. However, after being there in total for about an hour and a half, I never received not one follow-up phone call. During my interview I was told about a position that I would be "perfect for." The most frustrating thing is that they just never called. Not to tell me that the opening they had didn't actually fit me, not to tell me that there was something wrong with my application, not to tell me anything. I actually drove past to make sure that they were still there. I felt like after all of the very personal information that I had given them, perhaps it was just a scam. Looking back, it is just unprofessional to take phone calls during an interview. I should've known, don't waste your time. I know when you're looking for a job it can be very stressful, and any bit of help seems helpful, but this isn't the place. read more

Theophany is a total scam. AVOID!!! They pretend they have a wonderful opportunity for a "billion dollar" corporation and tell you that you are perfect and exactly what they are looking for and they say they will follow up with you. Not only do they not follow up but they don't answer phone calls or e-mails when you try to follow up. I have heard many other people say that they have had the same experience. You will see they have posted the same job ad several times because its fake. I highly suggest going through another recruiter. These people were phony and acted as if they really wanted to help. It's a complete waste of time. After the original post - I have seen the SAME 2 ads from this company on CareerBuilder, Indeed, etc. repeatedly posted this year. I worked with Erika and it was definitely the best experience I could ask for. She was very professional, honest, reliable and enthusiastic. She walked me thru the process of finding a job after leaving my previous employer of 10 years. She was very knowledgeable about the companies that I interviewed with and gave some great tips on how to best communicate with each interviewer. I felt very prepared and not pressured into any decision. I ended up with a job offer with a great company, and a salary that is higher than the original job that I applied for. At the beginning of working with this staffing agency they were great. They checked up on me every week I was able to email them about any new job leads and they would give me a vague answer, but I think it was just a polite way of saying no not yet. I went on one interview at a real estate firm and sadly didn't get offered the position, but lucky they found something else for me much close to my house and lo and behold the company cancels my interview with them that day. They had filled the position already and were just waiting for the applicants background check to clear. I was really pissed because they clearly had someone in mind they wanted to hire so why waste my time and get my hopes up. I emailed the my recruiter every week asking about any updates, and she would find a place they thought i would like and be suited for and want to present me and then I would never hear anything from them. This went on about a month and a half. Every 2 weeks they call get my hopes up and I never hear from them. Currently have not spoke to them in 2 months! Just went back to looking at jobs on my own. It felt like if i couldn't get them any business they just dump you on the corner. Overall very disappointed this was my first exp with a staffing agency and now I know what to expect from staffing agency's, They were very nice however never made me feel uncomfortable, kept in close contact with me the first 2 months. Always prepped me before an interview and never felt pressured when I would go through the mock interviews with them. They gave you good ways to answer questions and how to behave around an employer. Only thing I got out of it was just how to interview better. If you plan on going through theophany staffing or any other agency I advise you to know be direct with them tell them what you want and don't want, hassle them about getting jobs very OFTEN and kick butt on your interviews. It's been a bit over a month and I felt that by that time I should of gotten some kind of reply back to see how the process is going. Horrible agency. I have worked with other agencies before and never had this much trouble getting a response back. They called me saying they had a job for me and that they wouldn't waste my time so I went and talked with them and they said they submitted me but I never heard back. I had to call them and ask for an update which they didn't have and then they gave me more job opportunities which was great but again never heard anything back. I emailed bridgette NUMEROUS times and NEVER got a repsonse. I don't know how they stay in business if they don't contact the candidates ever. read more

This place is not worth your time. I applied for a job from an online source and with in hours I got a phone call from this place. They sounded very excited and said I would be perfect for this job. I went in for an interview and the still sounded very excited about me and was SURE I was going to be a perfect fit based on my resume. The interview went pretty well. I talked with Bridget. I left feeling very excited. Feeling wanted. I waited two days and heard nothing. I called on the third day and spoke with Bridget again and she said it takes some time. I understand that and respect that. Its been almost two weeks and I still haven't heard ANYTHING! I don't mind being rejected and told they don't want me, but at least have the courage to tell me they are not interested. Don't piss off peoples time and act like they are perfect for a job. Theophany left me feeling very optimistic after I went in to talk with their staff and I took the time to fill out an application, complete skills tests, and other time consuming things and ended up getting a phone interview with a company. I was very excited and after the phone interview received positive feedback from the recruiter who said I'd be schedule for an in person interview in the coming week. However, I was told the person who would be interviewing me was on vacation, as was I, but there'd be an interview the following week. The next week came and still no interview set up so I continued to call and email asking about an in person interview time, to which I continually got excuses on why there couldn't be an interview scheduled that week. I eventually ended up accepting a position with a different staffing company but I really did not appreciate the lack of communication towards the end. A simple heads-up that I was no longer being considered for whatever reason would've made this a non-issue but I was continually told I'd be called back and never was. Very frustrating. Only giving 2 stars because I got good overall job advice that I could use in other applications. read more
