The facility has tons of equipment, very gym-like. But the therapy equipment is designed specifically for the folks who need some help getting back to "normal" after an orthopedic injury--except for the soccer ball. I'm pretty sure it was just a soccer ball. All the folks there are nice, professional and they really made us feel comfortable. At first I'd go back with my 14-year old daughter and do the "mom thing"--you know, kind of hover. But I really felt okay letting her go back alone. I didn't let her go back alone, but mostly because I enjoyed going back with her. They gave her exercises to do at home and checked her progress. They explained everything to both her and I. Now she's got her mobility and strength back. We will still have to work on the balance, and the goofiness. They can't fix goofy. I secretly think they encouraged it a bit. Awesome place. Also, I found out a great number of other folks in Lakewood use them. Always a plus.

Being warmly welcomed at the front door by Satonia, the receptionist and everything-doer, starts my sessions off to a great start each time. The attentive techs support the physical therapists in their quest to get me rehabbed back to baseline and beyond. I have rehabbed 4 body parts over 2+ years at Vista White Rock and have observed many patients come, go and come back to rehab another body part also! I love the mix of ages and fitness levels present at any given time at the clinic from teenage athletes to middle age weekend warriors to the elderly, grateful to regain mobility and increase strength. The surroundings are bright, open and friendly. Small, as well as the large, victories are celebrated by everyone. After previous poor experiences at four other PT clinics for various rehab needs, I took advantage of Vista's 30 minute free consultation to interview them prior to a major foot surgery. I was extremely impressed and started PT soon after my surgery. I was even more impressed with their techniques, challenges, creativity, the way they listen, and, of course, the outcome! The combination of her personal gifts, professional training, skills, and experience make her an excellent person with whom to work: she is personable, knowledgeable, articulate, and flexible with exercises/treatments as needed. She really listens to clients (more and more a rarity), is attentive to what's going on with one's body during exercises (even when you don't know it) and points out needed improvements in form, placement, etc. One day she noticed that one of my legs looked a little longer than the other when doing an exercise and called me over to do some readjustment movements, something I can do on my own as well. It really helped. The clinic is run efficiently with the engaging and ever efficient Maggie at its helm. It may sound strange to say, but I am sorry when a course of treatment ends! One more thing to say: If you are looking for the big high tech clinics with lots of machines and equipment, this may not be the right place for you. What is of benefit is that every exercise Sylvia taught me in our sessions can easily be reproduced at home with aids that can be acquired from Target or Walmart. From the time you arrive to the time you leave, you know you are in very good hands. Once you arrive, you do not have to wait very long for your therapist to come get you. He/she will help you every step of the way and make you feel very comfortable. The first time I went, I was very nervous because I know my limitations and was afraid they would push me too far. That was not the case at all. They respect what you are telling them and they make extra effort to make sure you are not in danger of harming yourself further by overexerting your limitations. They have aquatic therapy which is what I am currently using. The group that is usually there is small so you really get a lot of personal attention and support. I have a very good feeling that they are going to help me get to where I need to be! I can already tell that I have extra energy. I am excited about the future because they really give me hope!
