So when I was referred to Therapy South for physical therapy for a new set of issues, I had little hope for any success. I WAS SO WRONG. I was assigned to Laura Richardson who has helped me so much that I feel I owe her my life. At Therapy South, everyone is seen EVERY by a physical therapist, not just an assistant. At the location off of Clairmont Avenue, Laura and Emily are both amazing dry needling practitioners. They spend one on one time with you at the table after exercises, guided by them but also with help from their wonderful floor staff. For my injuries, I received soft tissue massages, dry needling, heat ultrasounds, and of course ice and the TENS unit. When you "graduate" from physical therapy, you are allowed to go back and come in for quick appointments just for dry needling. Dry needling sounds horrible, but for me, it has been a miracle treatment to help decrease pain related to my muscle tightness, pain, and/or spasms, TMJ, neck pain, migraines, and cerviogenic headaches. When you walk in, Pam greets you as if you are family. Laura always remembers exactly what I need help with. Emily has such fun energy and has advanced training in TMJ needling. I have never had Leslie for my therapist, but my husband did, and he found her so helpful. The stretches and exercises she showed him have helped him so much he doesn't have to go back. I cannot say enough good things about this practice. Go now! You won't be sorry.

Dr. Mallempati: 5 stars His staff: 1 star…read more We made an appointment to see Dr. Mallempati in the Pell City location, which by the way, is not easy to find. He's only at this location one day a week, I think, and they use another doctor's office/optometrist (?) facility. There's really nothing that tells you he's there and when you're standing in line to sign in, there's a sign for a dermatology office and another for St. Clair Eye. We had to ask, "Are we in the right place?" So they took us back to a room within a few minutes - less than 30 minutes in the waiting area - and then... more waiting. We ended up waiting almost 2 hours and then finally someone came in and they admitted they totally forgot we were there. Ok, fine. They owned up to it and apologized, it's ok - we can move on from that. Dr. Mallempati was great, very thorough, and great bedside manner. He schedules an MRI and wanted us to come back after for a follow up. MRI was done and we return one week later. This time we saw him in his main location and thankfully, wait time was much better. His nurse practitioner saw us first and she was very thorough, but she interrupted us when we tried to tell her something and we had to make her listen. We saw Dr. Mallempati again, and he was great. He wanted us to schedule a nerve block which would be performed at Surgical Institute of Alabama. We immediately scheduled the nerve block for Dec 23rd, 2025 to be done at Surgical Institute, BUT they (Surgical Institute) would call us the day prior to confirm the time. No food or drink the day of the nerve block (prior to). Also, a 3 week follow up post-nerve block would be scheduled with Mallempati. December 22nd comes and by 3:30 p.m., we still had not received confirmation. We call Surgical Institute and the lady who answered the phone said, "What's your name? Oh yes, we have you down for tomorrow and they WILL be confirming this, but we're just really backed up. But you will hear something." We go to bed at 9 pm, still no word. December 23rd comes and we've taken vacation from work and are sitting here, waiting to hear. At 7:30 a.m., I call Surgical Institute and the lady who answered said rather rudely that that she had no idea what we were talking about, no appointment was scheduled for us. We repeated the story about how someone at her office said we WERE on schedule, and she kept repeating, "You need to call Mallempati's office - no one from there has ever sent us anything to do with your information." I called Tracy, Dr. Mallempati's nurse, and left a voice mail to PLEASE call us ASAP. By 9:30 a.m., we gave up hope and decided to eat/drink since obviously the nerve block wasn't happening. It's April 19th, 2026 and Tracy nor anyone else at OrthoAlabama Spine has yet to call us back. We've been completely ghosted by this facility, as if we were never there. We've told everyone we know to avoid this place - which is sad, because Dr. Mallempati is great.

After several sessions (mine being monthly)... I'm feeling completely relieved. Dr. Montgomery is professional but fun and personable. She does a good job of catering to each patient (she doesn't seem to just do the same treatment to everyone). She's fast most of the time and accepts most insurance. Also, her staff assistant is sweet as pie.

Aaron is very thorough and knowledgeable and I've learned a ton from working with him. I started PT with Aaron to work on an issue I've had with my left arm/elbow for as long as I can remember and to continue to help my core get stronger/more stable after an abdominal surgery earlier this year. My elbow wasn't something that regularly caused pain, but it was irritating and limited certain movements in workouts. I did PT elsewhere immediately after surgery and had improved to the point where I didn't have any specific pain related to that during workouts, but I still wasn't back to the strength/stability I had before, making some movements still pretty difficult. Since working with Aaron, I have seen noticeable improvement during workouts in all the things we've been working on during my sessions + the exercises I'm given to do during the week.

Despite multiple attempts, I have been unable to reach the billing department. When I called the office for assistance, they were unable to help and simply transferred me back to billing, where no one answers the phone. To make matters worse, the note on the bill threatened collections. I attempted to pay the balance online, but the Phreesia payment system froze and would not complete the transaction. At this point, I have tried every available option: The billing department does not answer calls. The office staff cannot answer billing questions. Calls are routed back to billing with no resolution. The online payment system is not functioning. The physicians may provide good care, but the administrative and billing experience has been unacceptable. If patients cannot get answers to billing questions or make payments through the available channels, there are serious organizational issues that need to be addressed. Unfortunately, this experience has earned a well-deserved one-star review..
