Stopped here to pick up some materials because I did a hand lettering virtual workshop and wanted to give it a shot. They have a ton of stuff in this shop and though I'm not an artist myself, they have a little of everything so you may find what you need. The guy working the store greeted me and let me know to holler for him if I needed help, but otherwise let me alone to wander. They also have a lot of framing options, so if you're looking for a framing job then you could try them out. Parking is street only, and metered. I didn't have any problem finding a parking spot, so hopefully that's the norm around here. read more

I have been buying art supplies from this store for a few years. The service has always been friendly and helpful. This store carries a large assortment of art supplies and fun for adults and children (such as work books and kits). Recently I had a piece of my art framed and I am very happy with the results. The store has a large assortment of frames and options for customizing. The owner knows her business! (Note that this store doesn't carry the supplies for the piece of art shown here that I had framed -- such as embroidery floss/thread and buttons. I purchased these supplies at a sewing store, except for the antique and vintage buttons.) Also, I don't know why Yelp has me living in Skokie. I have never lived there. I love to draw and paint because it makes for fantastic gifts (to give portraits especially). It's wonderfully convenient to have this cute nearby store- where they carry really good products by Golden, Prismacolor, Windsor Newton plus all the tools and trimmings to make something beautiful. It's only a step from Starbucks, Besos Chocolate, Tre Kroner- so if you are stuck waiting for a table you should pop by here and pick up some creative inspiration! They hold classes too- this location is brand spankin' new, so not any classes just yet, but I'm on the mailing list, so you you will see me there soon. Amazing people. Very kind and willing to help you with whatever. I was so angry and frustrated because ups would not allow me to use their tape to fedex my box. I stumbled in this store in hopes to borrow a couple pieces of tape and they actually ended up taping the entire box for me. These ladies were so sweet and gave me some good advice on how to contact ups for unfair treatment. Although I didn't purchase anything on their store, they were kind to do that for me.m which makes me want to patronage them. Sometimes we are so quick to earn a dollar and be rude to people, its surprising how a little humbleness and kindness can go a long way. read more

This is my new place to get supplies! The stock is fantastic and the staff is extremely helpful. This is their second location. In the rare case an item is not on hand, they get it next day from the Lincoln Ave. location. I think they hit a home run with this location as it is conveniently located near North Park and Northeastern Universities. Stop in! read more

Stopped in to get some finger paint for my boy. Staff working was friendly but not very helpful regarding the availability of paint that could do the job. Initially I was told they were sold out before probing on if there was any non-toxic paint that would do the trick in stock. Eventually we found something that would work, so it was a successful outing. I am glad a place like this exists, but would like to see the staff have a little more knowledge of the products they are selling. read more

Theresa was very generous with her space. She let me lay out my projects and frames on her work tables for a long time. I really took my time and she was totally fine with it. I've never left a review on Yelp before but I was so disgusted by Teresa's behavior I decided I had to. Long story short: I ordered a custom frame for a project with a specific timeline months early. When it didn't arrive for a very long time, I told her it was okay because I had planned so far ahead. At every turn, she failed to call and inform me of delays and issues. I kept having to call the store to check. When it did finally arrive, it was damaged, but no one told me. I had to call and find out. She re-ordered it and my deadline approached. After lots of discussion and concern over when the new shipment would arrive, I went to the store. At this point, I hadn't yet decided to take my business elsewhere, but was considering it because it had been so stressful. Teresa pushed me to pick a different frame and start over. When she realized I was considering ordering from somewhere else, she blew up at me. She began by saying I could do what I want, but then proceeded to get emotional and agitated, insinuating that it was unethical of me to choose to cancel the order. That made my decision easy, so I told her I didn't want to argue and please to cancel the order. She yelled at me and told me I was "despicable." She even followed me out to my car to "help" place the paintings in my car and continued to tell me how horrible I was. I recognize that it is difficult to have a financial career in the arts, probably better than most people, and I know canceling my order created a financial burden on what seems to already be a stressed business. But she took something out on me that had less to do with me than something else going on with her. I will not be returning. I hope this review is helpful. read more

Lake View Art Supply on Foster Ave is my go-to place for custom framing and mat cutting. They also have a good selection of readymade frames in a wide range of sizes. Walking here is so much more convenient (and less stressful) than driving to Joanne or Michaels, and it's cheaper than online places like Framebridge. My custom jobs have always been completed very promptly. My husband has also bought crafting supplies and small presents for our nieces and nephews here. The worst experience!!! Is so sad that that kind of person work there. I was so exited for my new project and really wanted to find the right tools. I left early the school so in that way I can arrive on time to this store I was so tired and then I found it and exited what should I buy but everything was so afoul. I just want to say that I work so hard every day and thanks God I don't have the necessity for stealing! She accuse me for no reason. I feel sorry no for me for her. I'm a local Chicago artist so this store is great for me if I don't want to go up to the Blick in Evanston. The prices are fair and although the store isn't as big as some, they have a good selection. A couple times when I needed something they didn't have in stock, they got it for me within a couple days.
