We ordered three signs for our business, and the website stated a production time of 2-3 days. However, it took a month for the signs to arrive. When they did, all three signs had small dents, and the hardware (valued at $170.83) was missing from the box. We requested to cancel the hardware order and receive a refund, but we were told only the "CEO" could process this request, and we have yet to receive a response. I was inspired to come to yelp today, just to find this company, so I could remark on its professionalism and generosity. I gotta say I'm quite surprised to see negative reviews. But noticing that all except one are pretty dang old... in this instance Yelp is not offering very relevant feedback. Not to mention that the only recent one is dated 3/20, which as we all know is right smack when the COVID-19 shut-down happened! (and when literally just about everyone's personal as well as work lives turned sideways...) Anyhow I'm here to report that I had really great customer service with this company. Right away I admitted I was not a potential customer, nor was I a former customer, when I emailed. Nonetheless I was requesting technical advice on caring for a pre-existing sign. Kinda ballsy of me, right!?! haha Well anyway, I did it because I appreciated how much really informative info was posted on the company website and just thought perhaps the company would be further generous with their expertise and advise me as to what type of product I should use given my exact situation, knowing full well they might not reply at all. Turned out, the CEO not only replied but gave me the exact step-by-step instructions including a link to the products he recommended I use. Time is the most valuable thing we possess so I really value this good-spirited overture and will absolutely give this company my business the next time I am in the market for signage - because the company just earned it! read more

One of the worst companies I had to deal with. Constant delays and rude staff with deceptive tactics., We still kept on working with them as we were too far in our project to find a new company. Tim, who is the CEO of the company lied to my partner and myself promising that the signs will ship ten days ago. We finally received the "Signs" and they're unusable as he just sent the letters with nothing to mount them on. He claimed that this is what we ordered and if we want something else we need to pay for it. Typical "Bait and Switch" tactic. We had multiple conversations with his "designers" explaining how the signs need to be mounted on the exterior of the building and were assured that it'll be done correctly. Furthermore, when we said we'd like to return what we received as this is unusable he said he isn't taking anything back and that this is our problem and hang up the phone. Placed my order, website doesn't take it. Call to see what is happening, website error, IT guy out of town. My credit card is charged twice, They refund the one charge ask me to send an email, assure me all will be good. Over a month to receive my sign. No frame arrives. Call and am told never ordered a frame - insist I did, just look at the order. Oh yeah, I did, will get a frame to me. Several weeks later frame shows up. Now I am at over two months since my initial order and this frame does not work with my sign. I call in to ask how to put the sign in the frame. They tell me they will have production send me something "when they get a chance." I ask to speak to the manager and am told "no" lol ... NO!? I angrily insist they send instructions via email now, I cannot wait any longer. I receive an email telling me to call the sign maker, ha! I call the sign maker and they tell me go to a local hardware store and buy bolts for the sign. Whaaat???? You sold me something that doesn't come with parts to make it functional? What a laughable and completely ridiculous experience - that 100% satisfaction guarantee is a pile of bologna! As a graphic designer I was trying out a new sign company, holy crap, never again! I dont write many reviews but here it goes. The acrylic letters were sub par as in they were missing terminations from bad routing layout. We received our lettering with stand offs made by cutting the heads off of screws. Stand offs in acrylic lettering have to be uniform or the lettering is not flat, they know this however did it anyway. Had a hard time receiving a call back from customer service after the first call. They have no installation instructions yet sell to consumers who have no idea how to install them. We are sign contractors and by our customer going this route the modifications of their package cost the customer twice as much than it would have been had we just done the whole job. read more

Our quote is FOR DOUBLE SIDED and we paid for it. Then they send us a single sided sign. How are you even in business when you mess up this badly. I am a professional designer and have worked with dozens of online signage and print companies in the past. I would steer clear of this outfit. I submitted a small and very straightforward signage project 2 weeks ago. They said production time for my type of material would be 2 days. I never received any kind of proof, which I thought was odd. Then a full week later I received a call asking me what kind of finish I wanted (which I had already specified in the job order) I told them and then thought we were good to go. Another week goes by and I realized I still haven't received a proof. I go to their online chat number and they tell me someone will contact me right away. They don't. I end up calling them directly 24 hours later. My account rep isn't available and I'm told the job won't be ready until the 18th. Which is 21 days after I submitted it. Again, this is a very small job of 9 dibond 8"x3" signs. The turn around time as listed on their website should have been 2 days and ground shipping is never more than 5-7 days especially for a small job. Basically, they forgot about this job, made no apologies and aren't even willing to send this overnight or 2 day mail to make up for their mistake. Unacceptable and unprofessional. read more

Have to agree with all of the negative reviews here, our experience was sub par as was the product. They sent a version of the sign that was not approved. Although they claim they will provide a sign that is 100% installation ready, we had to hire a local sign person to install it, it was such a mess. He found they had not provided the correct number of spacers and the threaded rods they provided were obviously just screws they had hacked off to inconsistent sizes. They wouldn't return his phone calls and when I wrote to complain to the sales rep, she said she would forward to the CEO.....then nothing. All around poor experience. If you are considering them, please research, wish I would have done a better job of looking at reviews. read more

I will NEVER use this company again! I would give them a NEGATIVE 100 Stars if I could!! My order was printed wrong, they blamed it on me. Okay, maybe it was my screwup so I will take blame for that one. BUT there is a cut, a razor cut, down the middle of the lettering when I open it up. I tell them and their CEO Tim Harrelson tells me he has pictures that there was no cut when they shipped it out but he's a "reasonable guy"! So apparently I'm a liar, he calls me a liar but I'm suppose to work with him?! Nope, not interested in EVER working with this joke of a company! It doesn't look like I'm alone with my poor review... In the beginning, I was happy with the promptness of my quote and urgency to get the job done. The first account manager I worked with (Crystal) was very helpful and assured me I'd get my plaque in time but when issues arose no one was able to help or offer reasonable solutions. In trying to find a resolution, I was shuffled between a couple employees and then ultimately to the CEO who completely ignored my emails until I mentioned writing a review on Yelp....go figure. He said he hopes I don't "embarrass myself" in "slandering his business" by writing a review because it could "backfire." How ridiculous to say something like that!!! It truly shines light on the kind of company he runs: no respect for his customers and very unprofessional. After reading some reviews on Glassdoor, I can see this guy has a bad reputation so now I'm not surprised by his email but I am pretty appalled on behalf of his previous employees. I paid, proofed and approved the plaque design on 9/19 and was promised a ship window of 10/3-10/5 which was perfect as I needed the plaque in my possession on 10/10. Six days after approval on 9/24, I was told production couldn't make the plaque because the text was too small so I'd have to purchase a bigger plaque. This I understand but they should've known and communicated that to me 6 days earlier/when I was comparing quotes elsewhere. I was also told production would be pushed back and they now couldn't hit my deadline which meant I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars in additional freight (to Hawaii). After countless phone calls and back and forth emails, I had no choice but to accept an additional $500 in fees so I could get the plaque to Hawaii in time for the memorial. It was either that or no plaque at all, which wasn't an option. The Sign Chef put me in a really uncomfortable situation, took no accountability and gave no sympathy for how the job had transpired. My initial quote was just shy of $500 and I ended up paying $1,000. The plaque arrived on 10/19 (about 2 weeks late) and they offered $30 off of my order...pathetic. I'm happy with the result of the plaque but for a $1,000 I could've gotten a high quality bronze plaque anywhere and with zero stress or hassle. I wish I'd read these reviews before so if you're reading this, save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. read more

Once again, more issues with this company. Their customer service is possibly the worst I have ever com across for any company. I would highly recommend going elsewhere. They 'forgot' to tell me that my order shipped and 'forgot' to update the tracking number on my order of over 120 signs. I only found out that they were shipped because someone from a completely different company said that our signs were mistakenly delivered to them. I contacted the representative Melissa Morris, who said she forgot to update me and my order even though I specifically asked her to do this because of my past shipping experience. They didn't do anything to help us out. We had to organize with the company and fedex to finally get our order. After we finally unpacked the sings we realized a couple signs were missing. I reported the missing signs and it took nearly 2 MONTHS for them to get back to me. Myself and my coworker called and e-mailed over a dozen times with no response. The owner of the company finally got back to me, after personally ignoring us, and had the gall to insinuate we were lying about the missing signage and refused to take any responsibility. They offered us 50% off a new order. These missing signs were worth $1500 and they thought it was acceptable to make us pay more for them. Overall this company is so incredibly mismanaged I don't even know how they function. The 2 stars from the previous order was from the good quality of our first order we had with them, which we were given free upgrades to our order that we weren't even aware of. No one told us of the free upgrades and it was no where on our order. Although the free upgrade was nice, we were under the impression we were getting the same product for the future orders. Well, I have a really good customer service experience concerning a sign I received that was damaged during shipping. Expecting a problem in having it replaced I was pleased that this wasn't the case. Nothing but accommodation in this matter with a new sign being shipped within a few days. Justin was great in taking care of me and listened to my concerns in how the sign was shipped and remedied the problem from happening again by shipping my sign in a wooden box that should be able to withstand even the grumpiest of Fed-Ex or UPS drivers! My order was botched from the beginning with Sign Chef - ordered one thing and only got a partial of what I ordered. Then was told it would be a few weeks to get the rest - and they came in ONE at a time. Ordering for my client, they didn't want the last two that came in, simply because it took so long for them to get. I was told by the GM that if I wanted a refund for the two (it had been a month since I ordered), that I would have to take it up with their vendor, and they were done. They were done because they didn't sent what they were supposed to - now I'm stuck. I DO NOT recommend The Sign Chef because of the way they treat their customers, not to mention their unresponsiveness. Our business ordered 5 A-frame signs for 95.00 dollars apiece. we placed our order on the phone with a company employee who confirmed our order. We later received 5 blank plastic sheets no A frames. when we called the company they refused to help us order let us return these insanely expensive plastic sheets. Do a search for TheSignChef .com before you deal with them and you will find numerous complaints. Unfortunately, I only discovered these midway through the ordering process. After upcharging my order (which was never completed) my request to cancel was met with tantrum-like responses. Believe me, once they charge your credit card, they'll never willingly let go of your money. (I had to file a complaint with my credit card company.) I have no idea what they mean by "100% satisfaction guarantee". I was met with nothing but flack and refusal to cancel. read more

When I informed her that the quote was way over our $1500 budget, she promptly told me to have a nice holiday and then abruptly hung up on me. No offer to help find a lesser alternative or anything.
