The Caravan Gift Shop is an interesting store located inside of Nickels Arcade in Ann Arbor. Nate…read moreand I stopped in while we were in town last summer and looked around - there are lots of different types of items including kid stuff (clothes, toys, books, etc.), tiny animal figurines, cards, jewelry, art, accessories, home and garden goods, bath and body products, chocolate, decor... quite an interesting mix of items. We ended up buying a Michigan made felted wool cat toy that looked like a mouse. Super cute and durable. The employee ringing us up was very friendly and nice and told us about the cat toy, which was cool. I always appreciate a kind interaction at places like this. I think this would be a great place to shop for someone who's "hard to buy for" since there are so many different types of gifts and products at the Caravan Gift Shop. This place has been open since 1927!

However, for…read moreme, that always calls to mind cheesy Hallmark cards and knick-knacks, and this store is far cooler than that. It's one of several small local retailers located in the nifty walking mall called Nickels Arcade, off S. State Street. They have a variety of items that would make nice gifts, ranging from hand-sewn handbags, kitchenware and old school wooden toys. The staff were nice. They said hello and goodbye with a smile but didn't hover. I always appreciate that.

First time coming here. I wanted to check this store out because it caught my attention. This place…read moreis great, very reminiscent to going to a Hot Rags or Earthbound store. It has a bunch of hippie stuff, incense, even beetles in container. I'm assuming it's real! I definitely love the variety of what this store offers but it's more on the pricey side. Store is very clean, well organized and it'll take you a nice 30 minutes to fully explore the store honestly. Wouldn't mind coming back.

They even have a kid-friendly tufting tool so little ones can make their own mini rugs! It's the perfect place for birthday parties, parent-child bonding time, or a relaxing afternoon of crafting -- and you can even bring your pup along! Chris was a fantastic instructor, patient, encouraging, and great at guiding us through the tutorials and bracelet-making while making sure our rugs turned out perfectly. He even finished them off with backing and glue for us. My child tufted a 12x12 rug in under an hour and loved every minute of it (no complaints at all!). I decided to make my own and we came back to make friendship bracelets. You can even make kits to go as gifts. We'll definitely be back! --- Would you like me to make it a little shorter for Yelp's "readable at a glance" style, or keep it full-length for detail and warmth?

It was both my partner's and my first time ever tufting but it was fairly easy to learn thanks to the instructor. He was very sweet and friendly, making the class enjoyable.
